In Guy Vanderhaeghe's short story, "Dancing Bear" he reflects the way self-respect and injustice play a role within the different characters. The author defines both round and flat characters along with flashbacks and the way devaluing another human being can affect another human. With this, Guy shows how different type of characters and stereotypes cause conflict. Mrs. Hax is your stereotypical caregiver where as Mr. Bethge is your stereotypical old man, this is where the theme is put into place and the ways of self-respect and injustice are put into place with resulting in a clear impact on both characters.
