Negative Effects of Television

There is no doubt that the media influences us. These influences are known as media effects. Media effects are commonly described along a cognitive-effective behavioral dimension, which marks a distinction between acquisition of knowledge about an action and performance of the action.(Perse 34)When we go to watch an action movie at a theater. You feel like attempting a stunt you saw in the movie. When some people watch a show with their favorite actor or actress, they tend to want to wear what that person is wearing. Television shows are the most popular pastime for the average human-being who are interested in watching it. Women believe that the best way to look is the way they see models walk down a runway. These apply to most people. Furthermore, it is important to dwell on the negative influences of media because these can change the dynamics of the society for the worse.
Television can grow to an addiction. The world's most popular leisure pastime is watching television. The amount of time people spend watching television is astonishing. On average, individuals in the industrialized world devote three hours a day to the pursuit-fully half of their leisure time, and more than on any single activity save work and sleep. At this rate, someone who lives to 75would spend nine years in front of a television. Most make it their own decision to watch TV because they enjoy it.
Most people admit to having a long-hate relationship with it. They complain about the “couch potatoes”, then they settle into their sofas and grab the remote control. Parents commonly fret about their children viewing. Children come to television seeking to satisfy some need. He finds something there, and uses it.(Wilbur 11)Even researchers who study TV for living marvel at the medium's hold in them personally.
