...making them mad is to make them talk on the phone for as long as possible. Most people answer the phone and right away when they figure out it’s a telemarketer they hang-up. Well think about it; you just gave them 5 minutes of free time. So now I will show you a few methods of annoying them. 1. The Yes method: This one is pretty simple all you have to do is say yes. So when you answer the phone say “Yes?”. Then they will start talking and then you say “yes” when they ask something or tell you something. The funny part is when they ask you a non-yes or no question such as “what is your social security number” You say yes and it’s hilarious . 2. Dragging it out: Another one is to drag the call out as long as possible. What I mean is, if they inform you of something, wait a couple more sentences and ask about that statement. Then after a long talk tell them that you aren’t interested. 3. Telemarketer in training: This one, unfortunately, I didn’t make up. What you do is repeat everything that they say. When they ask you why you’re doing it you tell them “I’m training to be a telemarketer” and then hang up. Notes: Another thing to do is if they call you any names or swear at you ask them to speak to their supervisor. They will either hang up or pass it on to them. If they do put the...

...1: Answering the Telephone For this project I surveyed and researched the “Telephone Response Violation.” By doing so I would answer my phone and not say a word then I would jot down my observations of the other persons response. However, before I started my violation survey I was really quite worried. It doesn’t matter if you’re in China or America; it’s an impolite behavior to not answer or greet when someone phones you. Perhaps the person calling me might think I accidently hit the wrong button or something, which would potentially lead to them hanging up and redialing me again. I assume if I don’t answer within 5 seconds the person calling me would just hang-up and try again or try text messaging me. The past few days that I have been attempting the survey has been a bit difficult for me because I am use to always answering with “hello.” However, I made a concerted effort and achieved good results for this project. My friend, Savina, and I were planning on hanging out Thursday afternoon. I waited for her to pick me up at the CRCC business building. She called me when she arrived, and I answered her phone call, but didn’t say a word. This (non-conversation) silence lasted for 23 seconds and then she asked “hello Caroline, are you there?” I did not expect this patient reaction from her. After we met, I asked her why she waited on the phone for a whole 23 seconds instead of saying something immediately. Her response to why she didn’t say something sooner and instead waited 23...

...210 Kimberly Werking Students in the 21st Century I made my observation inside a local peter piper pizza Friday night around 9 p.m. I chose this location because I have seen teenage students hang out for hours of the night. Throughout my observation, I noticed that the group of six students. It was evident that they had poor communication skills. Either they were extremely loud and obnoxious shouting, or sitting in a bunch starting into their phones. When there pizzas came, they finally put down their phones and began eating. Never once engaging in conversation. When I was younger, we would go to dinner just to hang out and talk and I noticed these kids hardly spoke. The one time a conversation engaged amongst them, was when one of the students had some sauce on him. Instantly four of the students pulled out there phones and began laughing and taking pictures. They all began to laugh and reenact the situation, taking pictures and making videos on their phone. Throughout my 2-hour period sitting in the table behind them, I did not notice not one time these kids go play video games. It was visible they had no topic of discussion. The main topics were there pictures and sending it to one another on one another’s social network site. I observed the group of kids take up to 45 minutes positioning themselves in preparation of a photo. Once the photo was taken, they all took turns looking at the photo and sharing it with one another. After the picture, the topic...

...power to cause an accident within seconds. The National Safety Council estimates that "1.4 million accidents occur every year due to people using their cell phones. 200,000 of those accidents alone are from texting while driving."(How) The popularity of mobile devices has had some unintended and even dangerous consequences. We now know that mobile communications are linked to a significant increase in distracted driving, resulting in injury and loss of life. With this said some people believe that texting and driving needs to be closely monitored because of the risk it involves. While other people think that it is alright to use the phone while driving as long as we keep glancing at the road while replying to the text. Currently there is no national ban on texting or using a wireless phone while driving, but a number of states have passed laws banning texting or wireless phones or requiring hands-free use of wireless phones while driving. This epidemic negatively affects teens and their society and should be strictly avoided. Using cell phone causes many distractions for our eyes, our mind, and our actions. It is easily possible for our eyes to slip off the road. The Tampa Bay Times claims that it "takes seconds to get eyes off the highway and takes self-control"(Cox). Therefore, instead of our eyes locking in on the phone they should be locked on watching our speed, the road, and traffic. At the same time, while driving our mind can only process so much. According to Goldsborough...

He does this because he is no longer, being able to take on, he wants to go to a quiet place where he is alone and is no longer surrounded by phonies , but forgets that running away from situation won’t always help, but will create even more problems. Secondly, he feels people are isolating him, but its vice-versa. Mostly all the students go to watch the football game while Holden isolates himself and stays back with Ackely the guy who he dislikes instead of connecting with other people. He says Anyway, it was the Saturday of the football game with Saxon Hall….I remember around three o'clock that afternoon I was standing way the hell up on top of Thomsen Hill…. You could see the whole field from there, and you could see the two teams bashing each other all over the place…. Because practically the whole school except I was there (Salinger, 2). This proves that his attitude and ego does not allow him to have friends and the reason behind him feeling isolated. Thirdly, Holden knows that social setting is the best chance...

...When asked, most people would say the book is better than the movie but film brings a clearer image to a story. The Tell Tale Heart is a story about a man who claims he has a disease but implies that because it has not dulled his senses, he cannot be called mad. He also points out his mental disorder actually caused his senses to become more acute. When he claims that he has heard things from heaven and hell, it gives away that his super human sensory is an illusion. He seems insane, he talks about an old man who he loves, but he can’t stand his eye or his heart beat. Before the end of the story he kills the old man. In the film there are characteristics that add to this story. The visualization, since you don’t have to imagine it, gives a greater impact. Film has the ability to add a lot of emphasis that make certain scenes stick out from the rest. This grabs attention. Some elements in film can’t be put into literature, an obvious one is actual sound. There are many different similarities in film and literature adaptions, but film brings unique qualities to a story that literature cannot. Film adaptation provides a physical visual for the events in the story. The film begins with a scene of the killer standing in a dark room while in a straightjacket. It's an erie start for the film. The killer is breathing heavily and opens his eyes slowly. This scene gives evidence that he is mad mentally and emotionally. This also makes it seem like the killer has objective. The killer...

...Just a few decades ago, mobile phones were a luxury that few could afford; large, heavy and awkward devices that were an exclusive form of telephone service, possibly suited for certain industry workers. The mobile phone is now a part of our popular culture. It has vastly changed our lives, and the (now) small, lightweight, highly portable device is viewed as a necessity in most households. One key way mobile phones have had an impact on our lives is in what they were designed for: communication. Mobile phones have allowed us to expand our person-to-person communication from what used to be a simple phone call, to the use of texting, group messaging, video chat, email and social media. But that’s not all they do. Mobile phones allow us to listen to songs, read books, play games, take photos and videos, watch movies, shop online, search for jobs, assist with our banking needs, track our loved ones, look up the closest restaurant to our current location, provide turn-by-turn directions to those restaurants, and so much more! The mobile phone has dramatically changed our culture and continues to do so as the technology evolves. It has freed us from the constraints of a bulky computer, providing information literally at our fingertips (or most recently, on our wrists). Whatever action or knowledge we desire, the mobile phone is most likely capable of providing. Although mobile phones have made our lives easier and more convenient, there are negative aspects associated as...

...Social Consequences of Gaming Addiction Your cell phone starts to ring and you look over to see who's calling. It's your best friend. He probably wants to hang out. After all, it is Friday night. You think about picking up the phone, but you don't. Instead, you tell yourself, "I'll call him as soon as I finish this fight.” You promise yourself that you'll call him because, even though you go to the same school and have most of the same classes, you haven't really hung out in a while. You've just been too busy. So you promise yourself, "as soon as I finish...” People who are addicted to gaming encounter situations like this all the time; situations in which they have to choose whether to interact with the real world or continue living in their virtual one. Sadly, the real world rarely wins. Social consequences are a very real part of gaming addiction. Addicted gamers spend so much time playing that their personal relationships get neglected and sometimes disappear altogether. Among addicted gamers who are married, up to 50 percent report a strain in their marriage as a result of their addiction. A quick search online for information about video game addiction yields multiple stories about detrimental, and potentially harmful, social decisions people have made because gaming takes priority above all else. One such story was about a man who installed an online gaming program onto his laptop so he could play at work, even though he knew that getting caught would mean getting...
