In the 1970s and 1980s they continued to rapidly expand the business by opening Wellby Drug stores which were mostly a part of Shop 'N' Save retail outlets. Hannaford was known for offering market-specific products and services to meet the consumer demand.
Hannaford supermarkets operating 156 stores in different states of U.S took the initiative of partnering with FoodPlay a co-branded nutritionist show associated with healthy communities which proved to be a critical juncture in its success story.
