I will never forget September 28, 2013. It was a cold night in Harrod, Ohio, as our football team was getting ready to go to battle against the Allen East Mustangs, under the friday night lights. The talk was cheap at school all week about how we were going to crush the Mustangs with ease, but everything changed the instance that first whistle blew.
The first drive of the game seemed like we thought we had already won the game. The Mustangs marched right down the field, and their side of the bleachers erupted with loud, cheering fans. Our strong point was our offense anyways, so we thought that we were fine. Then we got stopped on our first offensive drive, and that’s where the frustration came into play. At the end of the first quarter, we …show more content…
It almost seemed as if it were a routine. Once again we kicked the ball off, and in a ten play, five minute drive, the Mustangs scored. They missed the extra point again making the score 33-21. At this point, there were about eight minutes left in the game, and you could progressively see our bleachers get emptier and emptier. Losing to an 0-6 team wasn’t an option for us. Our next drive was a quick one, a touchdown from five yards out by our running back. This capped it off, making it 33-28. The next drive, our defense was in lockdown. They punted the ball back to us with three minutes left in the game. It was now or never for us. At this point in the game, both teams were tired and exhausted. It simply came down to who put more work into practice and who pushed themselves harder. First down we had an incomplete pass. Second down our quarterback got sacked to make it third down and twenty with two minutes and fifteen seconds left in the game. Coach called timeout to draw up a play to catch them off guard. It seemed liked the perfect play, and it was, but our wide receiver dropped the ball and messed it up. The game came down to a fourth and twenty. Still having to drive eighty yards to score. Coach called another timeout and drew up another play, a simple twenty yard out route by me. This meant our line had to block extra long for this play to work. Our center snapped the ball to the quarterback, and he let it fly through the lights. Then I made a good catch on the sideline to keep the drive alive. Next play, we threw some trickery into the offense. I caught the ball on a ten yard hitch and pitched it to a running back following right behind me for a gain of fifty yards. We called our last time out. This left one last desperation play for us, and once again it was drawn up for me. When coach was

IF TOMORROW COMES by Sidney Sheldon, ©1985 BOOK ONE Chapter 01 New Orleans THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20--- 11:00 P.M. She undressed slowly, dreamily, and when she was naked, she selected a bright red negligee to wear so that the blood would not show. Doris Whitney looked around the bedroom for the last time to make certain that the pleasant room, grown dear over the past thirty years, was neat and tidy. She opened the drawer of the bedside table and carefully removed the gun. It was shiny black, and terrifyingly cold. She placed it next to the telephone and dialed her daughter's number in Philadelphia. She listened to the echo of the distant ringing. And then there was a soft "Hello?" "Tracy... I just felt like hearing the sound of your voice, darling." "What a nice surprise, Mother." "I hope I didn't wake you up." "No. I was reading. Just getting ready to go to sleep. Charles and I were going out for dinner, but the weather's too nasty. It's snowing hard here. What's it doing there?" Dear God, we're talking about the weather, Doris Whitney thought, when there's so much I want to tell her. And can't. "Mother? Are you there?" Doris Whitney stared out the window. "It's raining." And she thought, How melodramatically appropriate. Like an...
