CONTEMPORARY HATE GROUPS
Name:
Institution:
Date:

The white order of Thule (WOT).
A Brief Introduction.
WOT was formed around 1994. Its main goal was to work towards revival of the European’s culture and soul. However, the southern Poverty Law centre described this group as racist. The group appeared to have collapsed in 2000 following the group’s announcement that it had disbanded. However, an internet blog was formed in 2005 which reposted the original materials of the group and continues to post new materials to date.
Justification.
The group justifies itself that it adheres to European paganism. It also claims that its activities are spiritual.
Recruitment strategies.
The group teaches its members through educational programmes. The programmes include; occultism, Jungal and Hermetic psychology, Achetype pathworking and folkish hygiene. It also has books that it uses to train its followers. The books include Might is Right, Revolt against the modern world and the decline of the western people.
Membership.
The activities of the group do not discriminate against women and children. However, the members are limited people of the European origin. Each member has to be 18 years and above. The group is so engrossed in its obligations that it becomes difficult to describe the place of women and children in the group. This is because, no materials printed by the group addresses the issue of women and children, unlike the National alliance.

The National Alliance.
A Brief History.
The leader of National Alliance is Erich Gliebe although the group was founded by William Pierce in 1974. Pierce died in 2002. The headquarters of the Group is in West Virginia.
The contemporary Target for the group.
The group positively targets and supports the Aryan race viewing it as a superior race. It negatively targets both blacks and Jews whom it depicts as a threat to the Aryan culture. “Jews are considered as a menace to the survival of the whites” (Gliebe, 2008). The groups racist attacks have extended to the government. This is because the government supports the women. “Mass democracy has grown in the government. They have included women and non whites in the government” (Gliebe, 2008)
Justification of its action.
Claims that the world is hierarchical and therefore, the Aryan race possesses higher qualities than the other races. It also claims that its cosmotheism ideology seeks to unify the white race with the nature.
Recruitment strategies.
In the earlier years, the group held weekly meetings in Washington D.C. The group has also posted its ideologies through the media in its effort to attract new members. The group is also associated with recruiting college students.
Place of women and Children.
The group detests women and children in the society. One of its publication states, “ NA is eager to erase advancement made by women in the last century because feminism is threatening our race” (Haskell, 2002).

The Hammerskin Nation.
Brief introduction.
This is the most violent racist neo-Nazi hate group in the United States. Many of its members have been convicted of assault and murder of the minorities. The group is still active and dangerous.
Contemporary targets.
The group targets the minorities in the United States. The Group is reported to have beaten blacks and Hispanics in Dallas. They also vandalized a synagogue targeting the Jews by shooting and smashing windows and doors of the synagogue.
Justification.
The group claims to be seeking ways and answers of the self identity. It claims to be safeguarding the whites against the likelihood of being deemed as outcasts or minorities. They therefore, assert to be taking hold of the racist minorities and welcoming them to the movement.
Recruitment Strategies The group targets the “disillusioned” young people. Many of the group’s contact points are maintained by hate rock bands. The group is very selective to whom is joining them, asking for proves from the prospective members.
Place of Women and Children in the Group.
No reports showing that the group discriminates against women and children. Its members are composed of both women and men.

Hate Group Synthesis Essay

...The KKK, the Nazis, Westboro Church and ISIS were all awful hate groups who used religion and racial or sexual prejudice to defend their actions. “Prominent religions worldwide preach many similar ideals, some of which include exhibiting kindness to others and living a peaceful life. Although these religions have vastly different teachings, they generally urge followers to be good and fair to one another. However, religious extremist groups claiming to adhere to certain religious ideals often distort the teachings of their faith in order to justify violent acts (Marisa Marstek).” The KKK is a racist group for segregation and black rights. The Nazis were during Hitler’s Germany, they tried to eliminate all Jewish people in the world by sending...

Hate Groups in America

...Hate Groups in America Abstract This essay will be exploring hate groups that exist in America, and some of the victims that have been a target from these groups. Hate groups commit violent crimes against people because of their demographics or the organizations that they represent. A hate crime is a violent criminal act that is not justified; it is committed to inflict pain and suffering. While hate groups exist in America, the crimes that are committed are not acceptable, and could be solved with communication. “We hate some persons because we do not know them, and we will not know them because we hate them”-Charles Caleb Colston Hate Groups in America Hate Groups have been increasing in America, and they are surged by a feeling of hate toward another group because of their race, national religion, sexual orientation, status and anything that one will find to hate another. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances” http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendment. Americans have freedoms to form groups that they want to and if it violates the law it will be looked into, and although the crimes that these groups commit against others is wrong, the hate groups that have formed are not illegal, and are growing in numbers...

In Virginia, The Ku Klux Klan has just started to reemerge itself into areas where they feel their work will most likely be appreciated, with of hopes of recruiting new members who like themselves are tired of the government and their changes. Hate Group

...Every day we hear people commenting that they hate someone or something. In school we are taught to except everyone for who they are, regardless of what they look like or how they talk. However, today in the state of Kentucky, there are sixteen hate groups. Groups in which they single out specific people and bring hatred against them. Hate groups from Neo-Nazi’s, Skinheads, Neo-Confederates, White Nationalists and one that is most common, the Ku Klux Klan. One group that I want to speak about is the Ku Klux Klan. In the past couple months, I have personally seen member of the Klan stand outside of busy intersections with signs displaying their beliefs and protesting what they believe. All the while, passerby’s are honking their horns and screaming profanities at them. From this, you can clearly see that this hate group is one not well liked and one most wish not to see. The Ku Klux Klan was founded between December 1865 and the summer of 1866 in Tennessee. The second largest groups in Kentucky is the Imperial Klans of America. They are located in Dawson Springs, Kentucky under the leadership of Ron Edwards. The Imperial Klans of America was started by Edwards in 1996 when his previous organization fell apart in 1995. The history of hate crimes shows us that we as Individuals have always had differences, and with the differences came crimes against others, murders, rapes and even loitering against those we did not feel were equal to us. Hate Group

...Hate Group Paper Nykia Banks Prof. R. Greenwood CJHS 430 March 23, 2015 1 Intro Six college students founded the Ku Klux Klan between December 1865 and the summer of 1866 in the town of Pulaski, Tennessee. Former Confederate officers, the six young men organized as a social club or fraternity and spent their time in horseplay of various types, including wearing disguises and galloping about town after dark. They were surprised to learn that their nightly appearances were causing fear, particularly among former slaves in the area. They quickly took advantage of this effect and the group began a rapid expansion. Various factions formed in different towns, which led to a meeting in April 1867 to codify rules and organizational structure. (http://archive.adl.org/learn/ext_us/kkk/history.html?LEARN_Cat=ExtremismLEARN_SubCat=Extremism_in_Americaxpicked=4item=kkk) At this meeting, former Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest was elected Grand Wizard, or supreme leader, of all the Klan. The organization was divided into a number of realms, dominions, provinces and dens, which were in turn led by Grand Dragons, Titans, Giants and Cyclopes. The policies of Reconstruction -- aiming to extend the rights of Southern blacks -- had the unintended effect of pushing hundreds of resentful and anxious veterans into the Klan, which soon began instituting a systematic policy of violence in opposition to the new social...

...8 Things That Anonymous, The Hacker 'Terrorist' Group, Has Done For Good It's easy to think of the hacking group Anonymous as a group of punk troublemakers, raising hell online. Some have even debated whether their extra-legal protests should be labeled terrorist acts. But that would overlook some of the genuinely good deeds the group — whose members identify themselves with the Vendetta mask — has done. Whether it's retaliating against kiddie porn sites, helping to identify Chinese military cyber-attacks, or targeting the digital properties of various hate groups, Anonymous can sometimes be a force for good. 8. In December 2006, Anonymous took down the website of white supremacist radio show host Hal Turner. The attack ended up with Turner paying some very expensive bandwidth bills and dropping a lawsuit a year later. 7. Beginning in January 2008, Anonymous kicked off "Project Chanology," its attack on the Church of Scientology, a cult-like religion which allegedly imprisons its dissident members. They launched denial of service attacks against the organization's websites, gamed the link-sharing site Digg to more prominently display anti-Scientology pages, and even physically protested — showing up in person — many church events. 6. Anonymous released user information from a major hacking forum in February 2011, and security firm Mandiant was able to use this data to link the Chinese military to cyber-attacks against the U.S. this year. 5. The Westboro Baptist...

Why Racism Exists

...Ergi Omeri HSB4U1-11 Mr.Drummond September 10, 2013 American History X is a reflective and inspiring drama about the consequences of urban racism as it portrays the way a family can be torn apart by hate. A very graphic examination of extremism in America, the film shows neo-nazi/skinhead activist, Derek, trying to reform himself and save his brother after living a life consumed by violence and bigotry. The story unfolds through the eyes of Danny Vineyard (Edward Furlong), who idolizes his older brother Derek (Edward Norton). Raging for revenge over the murder of their firefighter father, Derek ends up finding himself transformed by a philosophy of hate. His incendiary actions ultimately lead to a murder and a prison sentence for himself. Racism, prevalent throughout the world and of course, the film American History X, affects the way one thinks about others. A key element of this film, other than racism of course, is that the activist Majorities can never be trusted. A lot of ruthless scenes of violence were included in the film, which for some may have increased its effectualness and made it appear more real. Manipulation is also key in American History X where the main characters in this film are young, bright, and filled with potential, yet they still somehow manage to be recruited into the neo-nazi/skinhead movement. The message is that any person, no matter how normal, can quickly cross the line from being civil into being consumed by racial fanaticism, violence...

Hate Groups in Civil Rights Movements

...Hate Groups and the Civil Rights Movement Hate groups have existed for centuries and transformed radically over the years. Hate groups have appeared in America at times of social liberation time and time again. After the emancipation of the slaves in America, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was formed. This hate group committed heinous murders and other acts of defiance against the equality with African Americans that threatened their social and economic standings. KKK membership has fluctuated since they were formed, but; they reached two main membership peaks: in the 1920s with the red scare after World War I and in the 1960s during the civil rights movement. Both of these were times when minority groups fought for recognition. The civil rights movement also brought hate groups of African Americans. Groups like the Black Panther Party and Black Nationalists opposed the oppression they faced and fought it violently. Today, there is a modern civil rights movement happening and there has been a recent rise in hate group activity. Movements such as anti-racism and gay-rights have raised attention and faced opposition. In modern times, hate groups are less tangible. While there may not be groups with national committees holding meetings to oppose these civil rights, there are groups that have these common hatreds: religious groups, political parties, and certain demographic areas are just a few. Hate groups have left huge impacts on society during periods of social liberation, whether for...

Dealing with Racism

...Modern Day Racism Growing up in a diverse environment with my mom encouraging interaction between every race and social class of kid imaginable, I was taught that all people was treated equally. Being sent to a variety of summer camps and helping out in the community through homeless shelters showed me that everyone, no matter their social class or skin color was essentially the same. I had read about racism in my history textbook, but never thought that discrimination was still present in society today. I found out with a shock that this was not the case when my family went to visit some of our more distant cousins in Indiana only a few years ago. On my first and only trip there, when I was around 12 years old, was excited to meet these new cousins whom I’d never seen before. I had been to Indiana before, so its farm filled country side intermixed with small towns and numerous churches here and there were no new sight to me. The deeper we traveled into the state I do distinctly remember occasionally passing churches with huge white crosses either in the front or off to the sides. At the time these crosses had no meaning to me but my sister had read about them in school and began talking to my parents about the KKK. Not connecting the dots, I proceeded to simply watch the cows meander around in their fields until finally we arrived at our destination; a large farm with a huge oak tree guarding a cute, little house. The cousins were quite hospitable and conversation came easily...

The Pit and the Pendulum.

...that was about to die and was perplexed about how he should die but still had the will to survive. He goes through many difficulties in his bid to survive. Many very fascinating ideas strike him and he manages to pull things that he would not have dreamed. For instance, when he puts a mark on the wall to make sure he is not going round and round when he could touch the walls. He had the presence of mind to know that he will go round and round till infinity if the pit was circular and he hence left a mark on the wall. He similarly decided to jump off the pit than being squashed to death. That as a choice he would have never had to make in any other circumstance. In this story, Poe shows an irony- an irony where a person becomes that what he hate the most. The captors of the narrator were the Spanish and in the time of the Spanish inquisition the church was against science and hence no scientific activities were tolerated. The main reason of the Spanish inquisition was to make sure science does not get over the church and the church maintains its respect and authority. Through the passage of the story however, the way they treat the narrator is very much similar to a scientific experiment. Throughout the time frame that he is captured; there has always been a way for him to get out. He is firstly given food. Even though...

Claude Mckay

...the speaker’s love-hate relationship with America. McKay considers the country to be “a cultured hell,” and yet he admits that he also can’t help loving and admiring the country. These two intense emotions come from two of the completely contradictory aspects of American culture that are most well known: oppression and freedom.   One Harlem Renaissance theme in this poem is “determination to fight oppression.” Lines like “as a rebel fronts a king in state, / I stand within her walls with not a shred / Of terror, malice, not a word of jeer” show that although American culture is deeply rooted in racism, it wont always be that way. Equality is something worth fighting for, and African Americans are not just going to stand the hatred from racist whites. This poem reflects the hope and excitement of the Harlem Renaissance mixed with the equally important pain and struggle that was also going on.   McKay uses personification to compare America to a female, perhaps a mother or even a romantic interest; someone who he theoretically despises, but can’t help depend on. Although she has wronged him and hurt him deeply, “Her vigor flows like tides into [his] blood.” She gives him the strength he needs to fight against her oppression. American culture is founded on racism and oppression, but also values freedom and equality, allowing the oppressed to fight back and win against inequality.   I chose this poem because I relate to it so much; I truly love and hate this country. Although...

Short Stories

...of being acquainted with only a few hundred people, and out of the few hundred that there are but a dozen or less whom he knows intimately, and out of the dozen, one or two friends at most, it will easily be seen, when we remember the number of millions who inhabit this world, that probably, since the earth was created, the right man has never yet met the right woman. The mathematical chances are all against such a meeting, and this is the reason that divorce courts exist. Marriage at best is but a compromise, and if two people happen to be united who are of an uncompromising nature there is trouble. In the lives of these two young people there was no middle distance. The result was bound to be either love or hate, and in the case of Mr. and Mrs. Bodman it was hate of the most bitter and arrogant kind. In some parts of the world incompatibility of temper is considered a just cause for obtaining a divorce, but in England no such subtle distinction is made, and so until the wife became criminal, or the man became both criminal and cruel, these two were linked together by a bond that only death could sever. Nothing can be worse than this state of things, and the matter was only made the more hopeless by the fact that Mrs. Bodman lived a blameless life, and her husband was no worse, but rather better, than the majority of men. Perhaps, however, that statement held only up to a certain point, for John Bodman had...
