...Island Air is a niche player in the interisland market of Hawaii. It has a long history in the market, and its primary revenue source is achieved through selling tickets on its planes that offer transportation among five islands within Hawaii. It currently has a market share of 10% and an average load factor of 54.5% (percent of seats sold on each flight) Its main competitor is Hawaiian Air who has a market share of over 85% and a much higher load factor on their flights (1). Island Air does not have the resources to compete directly with Hawaiian Air for all travelers, rather through effective marketing which is outlined in this plan it will draw away travelers from Hawaiian Air thereby increasing its revenue by approximately 20 million dollars a year, or 30 million during the entirety of the marketing campaign. To achieve this increase in revenue both load factor and market share are going to be increased. The next year is an exciting time for Island Air and presents a great opportunity to implement a marketing plan that will achieve the above revenue growth. Island Air will be receiving brand new highly efficient Bombardier Q-400 planes that will replaced their tired and aging fleet of ATR-72 aircraft. Additionally 2015 will be the 35th anniversary of the airline (2). Both of these events provide synergy for the Ho`olaule`a marketing campaign, which means celebration in Hawaiian. Billboards, market research, twitter and celebratory parties will be utilizing to increase...

...duties each person has, when what is shown on television is not always reality. Take the shows Law and Order: SVU and Hawaii 5-0. These shows reveal the aspects of detectives’ everyday lives inside the job. They have a high tolerance for violence and depict an unrealistic representation of certain occupations. Methodology: Reading two essays, researching television media and genres, observing two shows and participating in a Roundtable Discussion on American Media Images (RDAMI) were the steps I took in putting together my ideas on television media. “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie and “Where Have All the Parents Gone” by Barbara Dafoe Whitehead were the two essays I read for this paper. They develop ideas on what has an impact on American people and culture. I observed two episodes of two different television shows. Law and Order: SVU was one of the shows. Law and Order: SVU is a show about sexually based crimes, SVU meaning “Special Victims Unit”. “Friending Emily” and “Manhattan Vigil” were the two episodes with the main characters being senior detectives Olivia Benson and Odafin “Fin” Tutuola, detectives Nick Amara and Amanda Rollins, Sergeant John Munch and Captain Donald Cragen. Hawaii 5-0 was the other show I observed. Hawaii doesn't have its own state police force but the Governor has set up a special task force, which becomes known as "Five-0", to investigate serious crimes on the islands. “Popilikia”, which stands for misfortune in Hawaiian and...

...1. Introduction In the world people are more conscious and awareness for the environment. Because of technologically world becoming a very fast and life is becoming very easier. But in sense we using technological its manufactures the product and its resources come from our nature and its becoming also polluted. We are using vehicles for our transportation for moving forward easily and very firstly. In the world we have many more automobiles company those are manufactured millions of automobiles. But that’s harmful for our environment because of fuelled are burned and also polluted environment and reduce our natural resources. So, we need to save our planet and by researched we find out Hybrid cars are very effective way to reduce carbon emission. The currently popular paradigm for discussing the environment originated in the 1970s, when the ideas of global warming and finite oil reserves were first proposed (Minton & Rose 1997; Pelletier et al. 1998). While some debate continues on the veracity of these propositions, this thinking has influenced the way people live by increasing their efforts to reduce energy use and to have fewer by-products as a result of consumption. It has been suggested that this type of thinking has led some consumers to prefer products like the Prius (Jansson, Marrell & Nordlund 2009). An area that is related to a consumer’s choice of car is the choice of fuel. Four thousand Swedish drivers were surveyed on their level of eco-sensitivity and the...

Thus it authentically achieves the purpose of ‘monitor anywhere and anytime’. The basic function of sensor network is gathering and sending back the information of the monitoring areas which the relevant sensor nodes are set in. But the sensor network node resources are very limited, which mainly embodies in battery capacity, processing ability, storage capacity, communication bandwidth and so on. Because of the limited monitoring range and reliability of each sensor, we have to make the monitoring areas of the sensor nodes overlapped when they are placed in order to enhance the robustness and accuracy of the information gathered by the entire network. In this case, certain redundancy in the gathered data will be inevitable. On the way of sending monitoring data by multi-hop relay to the sink nodes (or base stations) which are responsible to gather the data. It is necessary to reduce the redundant information by fusion processing. Data fusion is generally defined as a process...

...Management February 2003 Approved Prof. Roberto Pietroforte, Thesis Advisor Prof. Fredrick L. Hart, Head of Department Abstract The objective of the study was to map the structure of the construction engineering and management (CEM) discipline and its contents, trace its evolution, and to identify the most prevailing research areas in the discipline. The study entailed a review of the literature in construction engineering and management as well as two of the leading academic journals in the discipline, particularly a bibliometric study of the contents of the ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering (JME), as a case study of the CEM refereed journals. The JME’s contents were investigated from its onset in 1985 until 2002. The results of the analysis show that 70% of the published papers focused on four main subjects: management and organization of the firm, project management, industry structure and environment, and management of personnel. Considerable changes occurred within the subjects with the emergence of new topics and the decline of others over the eighteen years of publication. The study also analyzed the use of keywords, research methods, and identified authors, and the concentration of knowledge. The JME is mainly concerned with the managerial aspects of engineering, while ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (JCEM) focuses more on construction and technical issues. Additional studies of the JCEM’s contents should be conducted for a complete...

...December 7 1941 Written by Gordon W. Prange, this book gives great details leading up to, during, and just after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Through extensive research Prange was able to give us not only firsthand experiences of the Americans, but he also gives us some from the Japanese men who carried out the attack. During the days leading up to the attack there was lots of activity in Washington related to the Japanese, and what their intentions were. Our leaders were deep into negotiations with the Japanese trying to broker a peace deal. The U.S. fully believed Japan was preparing to strike somewhere, but Pearl Harbor was at the bottom of the list. They were instead focused on the Philippines, Thailand, the East Indies, and Malaya. This was because they believed Japan’s sights were on the Chinese. After reading the book, it seems the Japanese Diplomats in Washington and in Hawaii were unaware of the intentions to attack Pearl Harbor. As the negotiations were still taking place on Saturday December 6th, a task force of Japanese ships was heading to the Hawaiian Islands under the command of Chuichi Nagumo. At this point he already had a telegram confirming the beginning of the war, which was dated December 3rd. It was obvious the Japanese had been planning this attack for several months. It was just another day at Pearl Harbor. There were some readiness exercises and drills, but nothing out of the ordinary. The talk around the base was that Japan was going to strike,...

Key words: clinical telehealth, videoconferencing, literature review, quality of service Introduction Abstract Videoconferencing technologies can vastly expand the reach of healthcare practitioners by providing patients (particularly those in rural/remote areas) with unprecedented access to services. While this represents a fundamental shift in the way that healthcare professionals care for their patients, very little is known about the impact of these technologies on clinical workflow practices and interprofessional collaboration. In order to better understand this, we have conducted a focused literature review, with the aim of providing policymakers, administrators, and healthcare professionals with an evidence-based foundation for decision-making. A total of 397 articles focused on videoconferencing in clinical contexts were retrieved, with 225 used to produce this literature review. Literature in the fields...

...Score Aggregation Techniques in Retrieval Experimentation Sri Devi Ravana Alistair Moffat Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering The University of Melbourne Victoria 3010, Australia {sravana, alistair}@csse.unimelb.edu.au Abstract Comparative evaluations of information retrieval systems are based on a number of key premises, including that representative topic sets can be created, that suitable relevance judgements can be generated, and that systems can be sensibly compared based on their aggregate performance over the selected topic set. This paper considers the role of the third of these assumptions – that the performance of a system on a set of topics can be represented by a single overall performance score such as the average, or some other central statistic. In particular, we experiment with score aggregation techniques including the arithmetic mean, the geometric mean, the harmonic mean, and the median. Using past TREC runs we show that an adjusted geometric mean provides more consistent system rankings than the arithmetic mean when a significant fraction of the individual topic scores are close to zero, and that score standardization (Webber et al., SIGIR 2008) achieves the same outcome in a more consistent manner. Keywords: Retrieval system evaluation, average precision, geometric mean, MAP, GMAP. 1 Introduction (or not) that was obtained relative to other previous techniques.
