Ibn Tufyal writes the story of Hayy Ibn Yaqzan explaining the perspective of the soul and it’s connection to god in the religion of Islam. When reading the story, there is a purpose of what Ibn Tufyal is doing to better understand the world around him. He comes to a conclusion that there is in fact a higher being in the world, he discovers that while on an isolated island. Being isolated without any human contact or an idea of how he got there, he decides to go on a quest to find answers.
As Hayy becomes older he begins to question the surrounds and comes to a conclusion. He examined every step he took and realized that there must be some higher being controlling every outcome. The connection between both hayy’s finding and the Islamic teaching is the need to please the perfect creator which is Allah (swt) and to understand how to become the perfect soul.
