...Reflection Going through the English 102 has taught me so much more than stuff about writing in the discipline. I have learned here how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find the answers to the things that I don't know. Most importantly I have learned how important writing is. In most of my classes I did read, explain, and write papers; however, I quickly found out that there was so much more to it. One specific experience I had was being able to write an effective paragraph. English 102 also taught me how powerful the written word and language can be. It’s either you want to impress or express. Words tell so much. I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge has grown stronger. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to assignments. I can remember being told numerous times by my teacher, Ms. Dannilyn Macato to "organize your thoughts" or "provide more support and examples". These are the things that I have worked on and improved over this semester and I feel that my work shows this. The papers I wrote when I first started with this subject were bland and short. In these early papers, I would just write about certain things that were not so organized. Writing in the discipline really helped me shed that bad habit and write better papers with better ideas. I have learned how to write various styles of papers in different forms and different fields...

... “Hazel Tells LaVerne” The poem “Hazel Tells LaVerne” by Katharyn Machan has to do with The Princess and the frog story. The poem is suggesting that most women stay in the bathroom mirror to make sure they are looking good at all times. Although the narrative is simply told, the woman is simply speaking to the frog about how beautiful she is. This poem is taken place at night in a Howard Johnson Hotel, which means this woman is on vacation and she is staying there for at least a week because she is cleaning her own bathroom. Hazel uses the word flushm down the toilet, which means she must be a girl that grew up in the country because she has a country accent. This all took place in 1976 and during this time women did a lot of cleaning and men did most of the outside work. In this day and time both men and women do the inside and outside work. Hazel also says for God to help her, which means she must be a Christian because she asks him to help her. The rest of the story is referring back to the story of the Princess and the Frog. This is where the grog pops up and asks her to kiss him so that he can be made into man. This symbolizes the fiction of the poem because a frog can’t talk but the author placed that in the poem so that we could see that if you can’t see the beauty within yourself than no one else can. The golden ball symbolizes the crystal ball that you rub to see what the Fairy God mother thought about how you looked in the mirror. In the end Hazel says that...

...Hazel Dogs are man’s best friend, and sometimes his only. My dog, Hazel was the best thing that ever happened to me. Even though she was an elderly dog, you could often find her acting like a young puppy. She was a beagle/pointer mix and had short, brown, grey, and white hair. If anyone were to be near her, she would lick them until they were drenched in slobber. She could listen and was the best friend anyone could ask for. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I’ve ever have to do. There were many amazing memories with Eloise. For example, when we first took her home, she got into the neighbor's backyard. Then, it took us the whole day to decide on another name for Eloise. After spending a lot of time cooped up in the laundry room talking, my family and I decided on Hazel. Hazel was the best. One winter, we took Hazel with us to cut down a Christmas tree. When we got out of the car and into the snow, she started running around all over the place. After a couple minutes, she was covered in snow and miserably cold. Then, several months later, we got chickens. It only took a couple months for her to figure out how to get inside, and once she did, she killed almost all of them, bringing their dead bodies back...

...There are many differences between the movie and the book The Fault in our Stars. One of the main reasons for this is that they have to summarize or change some of the meaningless details of the book because there is not enough time in the movie for all of them. One difference from the book and the movie is the omission of two characters in the movie that appear in the book. In the book, Hazel has a really good friend from when she was still attending to the high school. Her name is Kaitlin. In the book, they talk about many things, about Augustus, and they even hang out in the mall and go shopping together. In the movie, there is no reference to this character. Hazel seems to have no friends at all in the beginning of the movie. Another omitted...

...of Hazel's Work operation management if an ordinance is passed... Should hazel send that student a check for the idea? Group 5 trade-offs In what ways are Hazel's customer most likely to judge the quality of her lawn care service? Hazel's Case 4. The town is considering an ordinance that would prohibit putting grass clippings at the curb for pick up because local land fills cannot handle the volume. What options might hazel consider if the ordinance is passed? If this law would be passed it would be both a benefit and a loss for hazel. Name 2 advantages and drawbacks of each option Advantages: As we have researched grass clippings are said to be fertilizers. After mowing the lawn you do not need to sweep it any more leave it and it would breakdown on its own. It would be less effort for hazel and less cost for the fertilizer and trash bag. Plus hazel would also help the environment. Disadvantages: We are not sure if customers would like that grass clippings would be left on their backyards. 5. Hazel decided to offer the students who work for her a bonus of $25 for ideas on how to improve the business, and they provided several good ideas one idea that she initially rejected now appears to hold great promise. The students who proposed the idea has left, and is currently working for a competitor. Should hazel send that student a check for the idea?what are the possible trade offs. We think Hazel should not send the student a check because the student is currently working...

...The haunting behavior Flannery O’ Connor creates a fictional world in need of faith. In the book Wise Blood by Flannery O’Connor, Hazel (Haze) Motes is a young man that is driven to find Christ in the city of Taulkinham. Who I considerably believe him to be naïve person, because of his innocent, ignorant, and impulsive behavior. Flannery O’ Connor character is spiritual lean and hungry figures that reject lip services to Christianity and the insipid certainty of rationalism in the pursuit of salvation and portrays the moment of grace as an encounter with holiness and as a moment of epiphany and physical and emotional violence as an essential part of one’s transformation and growth. Hazel Motes is usually deprived economically, emotionally, or both and is dwell in a world which, in Flannery O’ Connor’s words, “the good is under construction”. Hazel is someone who dares to dream but shows no remorse towards the faith and belief that other people may have upon Jesus. Nobody seems to be impressed by the power of his words when Hazel Motes says, “Do you think I believe in Jesus?”… “Well I wouldn’t even if he existed, Even if he was on this train” (7). Hazel speaks to Mrs. Hitchcock in the train letting her know, he would never want to be redeemed; “If you’ve been redeemed, then I wouldn’t want to be” (7). His ignorant and stubbornly attitude is always against Jesus that even if he existed and had him in front of him, he still would refuse to believe. His ignorant attitude is...

...the United States Handicapper General. Some things about living still weren’t quite right, though. April, for instance, still drove people crazy by not being springtime. And it was in that clammy month that the H-G men took George and Hazel Bergeron’s fourteen-year-old son, Harrison, away. It was tragic, all right, but George and Hazel couldn’t think about it very hard. Hazel had a perfectly average intelligence, which meant she couldn’t think about anything except in short bursts. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains. George and Hazel were watching television. There were tears on Hazel’s cheeks, but she’d forgotten for the moment what they were about. On the television screen were ballerinas. A buzzer sounded in George’s head. His thoughts fled in panic, like bandits from a burglar alarm. “That was a real pretty dance, that dance they just did,” said Hazel. “Huh?” said George. “That dance – it was nice,” said Hazel. “Yup,” said George. He tried to think a little about the ballerinas. They weren’t really very good – no better than anybody else would have been, anyway. They were burdened with...
