Attributional biases are a class of cognitive errors triggered by people in evaluating the qualities or dispositions of others based on incomplete evidence. A self serving bias is a cognitive bias that tends to enhance the ego and self confidence of an individual, through different processes. Since everyone wants to be strong and successful individual so most people demonstrate this one way or other. We tend to relate success to our internal attributes (hard work, intelligence, and dedication) and our failures to external attributes. If we are aware of these processes it can help us to evaluate our performance and progress more critically, and learn from our failures.
In the just-world theory people believe that world is just and that the people get what they deserve. They believe that world is fair and they look for ways to explain any injustice. I think the just-world theory can lead people to not look for alternatives and try to overcome real obstacles to difficulties and problems and achieve success in life. We should make a sincere attempt to understand why things happened the way they happened and the self-serving attributes should not interfere with our desire to correct our mistakes and excel. Self-serving attributes might become self- handicapping by preventing a person to feel responsible for his/her failures. We can externalize failures and internalize success if we have self-serving attributional biases.

Self-fulfilling prophecies change our actions and the actual situations get changed. They are kind of predictions which indirectly or directly come true by chance. My self-fulfilling prophecy is my bad driving in a rainy weather, and when it rains and I have to drive, I always mess up. I try to be very careful and end up being late all the time. It starts with a false perception of me going to get involved into an accident and changes my further actions and behavior to make that perception false. Although the self-fulfilling prophecy does not have the ability to change the natural events but our personal attitude may influence everyday situations as how we relate to other people and their response to our behavior. I think the increased awareness of how to avoid the negative effects of self-fulfilling prophecies may be good not only for individuals, but also for the whole society.

Folk wisdoms appear to be so simple but tend to be effective mode of interpersonal mode of communication. These statements are useful guideposts based on a multitude of experiences and observations that are part of everyday life in the family and the workplace. The folk wisdoms originate from one person and then become property of general population. When I see at “out of sight, out of mind” folk wisdom it seems to be true for simple things in my life. I tend to use objects (like TV remote to turn on TV if it is on the table and not to turn it on if the remote is hidden some ware) when the are in sight. Empirical research allows us to test the validity of personal observations and folk wisdom. Social psychology relies on three types of methods, observational, correlation, and experimental in order to provide empirical answers to questions about social behaviors.

Individuals high in private self-consciousness have a tendency to consistently direct attention towards self than individuals low in private self-consciousness. Self-consciousness is expressed in social attitudes, emotions, and behaviors. Private high self-consciousness is associated with high focus on behavior, increased sensitivity to feelings, concerns about how others think about you, and awareness of ones appearance. Compared to people with low private self-consciousness, people with high private self-consciousness show more predictive attitudes and behavior.
High self-consciousness can be good and bad also. It can be good if it is non judgmental self-consciousness and promotes self regulation but it will be bad if it is judgmental and promotes self-criticism and frustration. We should have a balanced level of self-consciousness in such a way that it does not lead to shyness.
