Provide examples of common obstacles to successful group communication that you have experienced or read about. How did the group work through the challenges? Doctors and nurses, from diverse restraints, who interconnect effectively and work as a single entity, typically increase the quality of care they provide to their patients. There is a uniformity and diligence that can be absent when teamwork is not manifested. In some cases, if the dynamic among health care peers is not tense free, the patient can be affected by the lack of cohesiveness in the service. Patients may be lost in this way. Health Care Communication

...Health Care and Communication Kathy Owen HCS/320 July 15, 2013 Patricia Bird What is communication? “Communication can be defined as the process of sending and receiving messages.” (Cheesebro, O'Conner, & Rios, 2010). Communication in heath care is probably the most important issue that needs to be addressed. Not only does the patient need to communicate all of their issues to the physician, but they also need to make sure that they are addressing them to an extent with the scheduling staff and nurses as well. Also the physicians, nurses, and front end staff need to make sure that they are communicating with the patient so that they understand what it is that they are being told, what they are being scheduled for, tests and such, and even what services they are being or have been billed for. There are a few different methods for communicating. Face to face, phone calls, emails and some even still send an actual letter in the mail. When communicating in any of these methods the way that you state something can come across in different ways depending on tone of voice or even just the proper wording. Hugman (2010). “To be an effective communicator with patients and families, there are several things to keep in mind to help you be more effective and to keep yourself out of trouble.” Good news is always easy to give, but you have to be very careful not to promise something that you cannot guarantee, bad news is both difficult to give and...

Health Care Communication Mehods

...Health Care Communication Methods Morgan Pence HCS/320 June 15, 2013 Luis Marquez As the communication coordinator for a national drug manufacturer, I am here today to discuss with the organization the negative effects that our medication is causing on the public. This meeting will be addressing the news reports and the general public about the situation at hand. Also I will be going over the advantages and disadvantages of using traditional, electronic, and social media with health care communication. The first type of communication that will be discussed is the use of traditional communication. Traditional communication includes the face-to-face method, using the telephone, having a team meeting and using printed newsletters. With using face-to-face communication one of the advantages would be that each person gets to see one another which makes it easier to read their body language and understand better what might be occurring. Another advantage would be the personal relationship that can be built between the people who are communicating. Disadvantages would include not being able to speak what is on ones mind to the person when looking at them. Another would be not being very good at confronting someone who may be of higher authority than them. Next type is the telephone, which has the advantage of still allowing the person to voice what they have to say and be able to adjust their tone when needed. Disadvantage would be that the phone could...

Education: the Good and Bad Draft

...Communication opinion paper Deanejalo white Hcs/320 December 21, 2015 Operative communication involves the rudimentary fundamentals of communication in an appropriate manner. Effective communication must have proper content, which refers to “the five basic elements of communication” and those five elements are the sender, the message, the receiver, the medium and the feedback. In effective communication all of the elements have to be in optimal condition in order to convey information in a proper order.   I ponder that effective communication integrates these expertise since you need to use the correct communication skills in order to be fruitful in the conversation. In the healthcare profession I do not see how the communication in basic elements of effective communication varies since all of the same rules apply. In order for your physician to give you the necessary treatment for an infection or illness, you have to be willing to tell the specialist the whole story and open up to him about your lifecycle. This may include personal details and in order to be able to do that, there has to be a trust that you must have with others just like you would in effective communication. Here are definite methods in which simple fundamentals of actual communication vary after the basic guidelines of health care communication. There are some detailed effects that must be sidestepped when communication contained by the health care profession. It is vital to not use nonsense or...

Nursing Home Administrator

...University of Phoenix Axia HCS/320 Erin Being a nursing home administrator with in a nursing home, excellent communication is a necessity. Communication is how care providers determine the quality of care that is given and needed for the patients. By being a nursing home administrator, it is my job to make sure that the HIPPA rules and regulations are being used by all employees. By making sure that HIPPA rules and regulations are being upheld, the nursing home is providing quality care to the patients. When a change happens at a nursing home there can be confusion and conflict with everyone involved. While following the chain of command can be long and even boring, it is needed to keep the communication process smooth and effective. The chain of command does help reduce the risk of a communication breakdown. If a communication breakdown is developed it can cause commotion in any health care facility which could jeopardize everyone involved. With being the nursing home administrator, the first job that I would need to do is have a full understanding of the new policies and procedures. I would need to know how the policies and procedures were put into place and how exactly this will affect the patient’s in the nursing home. In order to do this I would want to speak with the board members so my concerns could be addressed. In order to address these issues I could meet with the board members face to face, use social media, or by electronic communication. There are advantages...

This information will help facilitate the transfer of those residents here at Shady Pines that no longer fall under the prevue of the new corporate guidelines. As some of the residents have communication issues or have no local family support, we as their caregivers need to ensure that all methods of communication are utilized to ensure a smooth relocation situation. Some of these methods will include the more traditional types, such as letters or phone calls to the guardians of those affected by the relocation (Du Pré, 2005). Other methods available for our use will be electronic in nature. One type of electronic communication is email (Du Pré, 2005). Social media communication types, such as texts to the guardians, will be used when all other types of communication has failed. Each of these types of communication will also be used within the Shady Pines facility, to keep all staff updated on any changes that indubitably occur and to help ease the transition as well. Communication between the staff at Shady Pines and Rolling Hills is vital also, so that any conflicts can be handled efficiently. As I mentioned...
