The Impact of Obamacare on the Econmy

...Cost and Economic Analysis 23 April 2013 Abstract In 2010, there were approximately 50 million uninsured Americans. In March 2010, President Obama signed into law a piece of legislation that reformed American’s healthcare industry. The legislation is coined as “Obamacare.” Supporters argue Obamacare provides coverage for our nation’s uninsured while boosting economy. Opponents argue Obamacare will increase healthcare costs and in turn, add to the deficit. The research supports the belief that improving the health status of the American citizens does result in economic expenditures for the United States. There is a relationship between affordable healthcare and the economy. The impact Obamacare has on the economy can be viewed through a simple math equation, a return on investment analysis. The return on investment analysis revealed a positive return on investment. The results suggest American has invested wisely. Investing in the healthcare of the American citizens will improve productivity, is cost effective, and reduces healthcare care costs. Strategic Management

...Organization Executive Summary and Situation Analysis Working for the Managed Care Organization of America, the ultimate goal would be to ensure cooperation in the understanding, agreement, and commitment between all divisions and units. One of the problems at the Managed Care Organization of America is that the healthcare professionals are put in a position where they are inhibited in their involvement over the communication and networking systems between the Nursing Administration, the head of each nursing unit or the RN or LVN in charge, and the certified nursing aids. This executive summary takes a brief look at designing and developing a contract process program that integrates cooperation and communication systems between the Nursing Administration, the head of each nursing unit or the RN or LVN in charge, and the certified nursing aids. Another challenge for the Managed Care Organization of America is the unclear policies in the Hospital Equipment Management Program. This executive summary offers a proposal whereby the healthcare professionals would develop and monitor a two-way communication channel and incorporate it into the Hospital Equipment Management Program, hold related workshops that can be attended by the Director of Hospital Operations and the division managers, build a cooperation team that unites operational goals and develop systems that evaluate whether these operational goals are being met and implemented with success. Head Start or False Start

...| | | December 21,2013 | [Head Start or false start] | A strategy to adequately plan projects in the intense and rapid changing healthcare setting of today is imperative to implementing successful projects. | Executive Summary Currently, healthcare is one of the leading topics across the nation ranging from quality improvements to cost reductions. No matter the public focus, projects have become a major part of health systems large and small. As complex projects trend upward in the healthcare industries, the implementation for project management best practices has become a necessity. Many organizations lack experienced project management methods and may even neglect to see the importance of such principles. These factors along with the extreme pressures to execute projects quickly and effectively has given light to increased project false starts. A project false start negatively impacts the project, the organization morale, and ultimately the company’s bottom line. Causes can range from lack of project management knowledge, simple neglect, or tight deadlines. Whatever the cause, there are preventive measures available. In elementary terms, the best defense is to PLAN first. But, even more so, your organization must complete proper project selection and initiation phases before progressing into the next phases of the project lifecycle. Introduction New ideas often bring excitement and momentum; however, rushing into project execution may actually increase the likelihood...

Cultural Analysis on the Country of Mexico

...Cultural Analysis The marketer needs basic information to evaluate a country market’s potential, identify problems that would eliminate a country from further consideration, identify aspects of a country’s environment for possible adaptation, and develop a strategic market approach. One further use of the information collected in the preliminary analysis (cultural analysis) is as a basis for country notebook. A country notebook includes a Cultural Analysis, Economic Analysis, Market Audit and Competitive Market Analysis. The data suggested in the cultural analysis includes information that helps the marketer make market-planning decisions. However, its application extends beyond product and market analysis to being an important source of information for someone interested in understanding business customs and other important cultural features of the country. The information in this analysis must be more than a collection of facts. You need to interpret the meaning of cultural information. That is, how does the information help in understanding the effect on the market? For example, the fact that almost all the populations of Italy and Mexico are Catholic is an interesting statistic but not nearly as useful as understanding the effect of Catholicism on values, beliefs, and other aspects of market behavior. Furthermore, even though both countries are predominantly Catholic, the influence of their individual and unique interpretation and practice of Catholicism can result in important...

Understanding Your Ethical Responsibilities

...Excerpted from The Tracks We Leave: Ethical and Management Dilemmas in Healthcare, Second Edition, by Frankie Perry, RN, LFACHE (Health Administration Press, 2013) CHAPTER 1 Understanding Your Ethical Responsibilities Hea lt h c a re l eader s and those aspiring to be leaders must recognize first and foremost that character and integrity constitute the very cornerstone of leadership. Organizations have failed and promising careers have been derailed when ethics have been relegated to secondary importance or, worse yet, ignored in the pursuit of more bottom-line considerations. Healthcare managers must understand their role and responsibility in creating an ethical healthcare environment that is honest, just, and always in the best interests of those being served. Whether you are the CEO, an assistant administrator, a department head, a program manager, or a clinician, if you are “in charge,” you have the ultimate responsibility for establishing the culture and setting the standards of conduct in your sphere of influence. This task is not always an easy one. Nor is it easy for well-intentioned managers to always make ethical decisions themselves. BARRIERS TO ETH ICAL D ECIS I O N M A K I NG In our book Healthcare Leadership Excellence: Creating a Career of Impact, James Rice and I identify some of the common barriers to ethical decision making and seven pitfalls for managers to avoid (Rice and Perry 2013, 29–37).
