There are more benefits from healthful eating that could far outweigh the possible health risk from careless eating habits. The benefits from healthful eating would be to maintain weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease, and feeling better physically and mentally. The risk from careless eating would be heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and obesity. Healthy eating is important to us because, our bodies need the nourishment that we can supply on a daily basis to remain active and achieve our goals.

The goal in this essay is to show a selection of plans for some diet choices with menus. I plan to cover information on diets to help with weight loss or to maintain weight. I will use a variety of well known sources for my information. This information should be easy to follow with some planning ahead for the change to come in your life. Some of the best information would be to try and eat three balanced meals a day. This does not mean that you have to over indulge of course although you should never skip meals.

The first thing is the food pyramid which goes over the food chain. This would be the foods are bodies need on a daily basis to function on normal routines. The pyramid gives us an idea of some foods to choose from. You should have grains, vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy, meat and beans, oils. When you look at the pyramid site you can choose which category of foods you need help in. The site has some areas to help with maintaining weight, losing weight, and gaining weight. The web site is www.mypyramid.gov. This site is a well known used by dietitians and physicians for patients.

The recommended diets for children are found on the pyramid web site. They suggest an 1800 calorie diet depending on the amount of exercise the child gets. If the child is very active the calories are
