Cal is good at manipulating kids. They are young, rebel against their parents, and who better to have as a friend than someone that really understands what they're going through. He somewhat does know what they are going through though. In fact he is one of the few adults out there that just might really get them. He has changed himself to knowing what is best for him. He sets out to do that with this same idea in mind for all of his kids. Especially with Donny. Cal was focused on changing Donny’s way of thinking to his own. One of the Times when Donny’s mom went over to Cal’s house She heard loud music playing. “Once it was The Who, which Daisy had recognized from the time Donny had borrowed the album”(5). Cal had given Donny a record that he had obviously played enough times for Daisy to know it’s name. He is sharing music tastes that Donny hadn’t previously had. Making more and more of an impact on his life further securing his position with Donny. Not to mention the fact that Donny even began to use phrases Cal likely said himself. “‘You’re just feeling competitive’ he said ‘And controlling’”(5). Donny would never say that to his mom before cal. Not to say he didn’t back talk, but competitive and controlling were words that did not match his personality or way of speaking. They had to come from an outside force. Somebody that had enough of an influence on him to entirely change his manner of speaking. He feels good when he repeats these things that Cal says because it makes him feel more like the very person that is ‘helping’ him. He knows he can’t get in trouble for saying these things because Cal said these to him so how could anybody be mad at him for just reiterating what his tutor said? This is why Donny thinks he can get away with anything.
Cal almost lets Donny do about anything and when it is time to face the school or his his parents he protects him. Shields him from any of the blame and pulls the feelings above all actions card every single time. “I think this kid is hurting, you know?”(4). he begins by being one of the only ones that cares for Donny’s feelings and ends up only caring about Donny’s feelings. He is blinded by the fact that Donny sometimes just does bad things and makes excuses. “‘What was the boy’s name?’ Daisy asked ‘Huh’ ‘Mrs. Cobble, take my word this situation is not so unusual’--’Frankly’ said Cal ‘I wouldn't be too surprised if the school was in on it’”(7). Donny was clearly lying to his mother to Cal to his whole school but nonetheless Cal still fought for him. He never held Donny accountable for his actions meaning there were no consequences for doing anything bad or against the rules. Donny had no reason, no force to will him from acting out in unjust ways. At the end Cal was a practically acting as a lawyer to get him out of anything. I know that these types of people want to defend you after hearing all of the troubling things in your past. Most people pay them a lot of money for them to help them get through their day to day lives. When an opportunity arises for them to help you out they will take it. If not because they care for you than because they want you to feel even more comfortable with them than you already are. Cal needed to stop thinking of Donny’s feelings and the money he could get out of Donny’s parents and teach him that not only he matters, but everybody on this planet does too.

...Corporation “Fighting multinationals was very tough. At first, everyone thought I was crazy. They told me, how will I survive this? True enough, it’s by the grace of God that I’m still here in the toothpaste industry after 20 years. God is good,” – Cecilio K. Pedro Cecilio K. Pedro is another Filipino businessman of Chinese descent but his story is not the typical rags-to-riches tale but about turning adversity into triumph. He earned his business management degree at the Ateneo de Manila University, one of the more prestigious private schools in the Philippines. He once headed Aluminum Container, Inc. which was the major supplier of the collapsible aluminum toothpaste tubes that were formerly used by local manufacturers of Colgate-Palmolive, Procter and Gamble and the Philippine Refining Company (now Unilever). However, technological innovations and the environmental concerns over aluminum materials prompted the multinational companies to make use of the plastic-laminated toothpaste tubes as an alternative. As a result, Cecilio’s aluminum factory closed shop in 1985, but this didn’t stop him from exploring other ways to put his factory equipment into good use. Cecilio K Pedro decided to compete with the multinational giants by producing locally made toothpastes and hit them where it would hurt the most --- the selling price. He founded the Lamoiyan Corporation, which became the manufacturer of the first locally produced toothpastes “Hapee” and “Kutitap” (sparkle)...

...1. Protoboard A breadboard (or protoboard) is usually a construction base for prototyping of electronics. The term "breadboard" is commonly used to refer to a solderless breadboard (plugboard). A breadboard originally was a flat wooden cutting board used to support a loaf of bread (or other foods) while it was being sliced; this original meaning is still in use, but has a new additional meaning as "a base for prototyping". The concept of "breadboarding" as prototyping is not confined to electronic design; "mechanical breadboards" have been and continue to be used by mechanical engineers. Because the solderless breadboard for electronics does not require soldering, it is reusable. This makes it easy to use for creating temporary prototypes and experimenting with circuit design. Older breadboard types did not have this property. A stripboard (veroboard) and similar prototyping printed circuit boards, which are used to build semi-permanent soldered prototypes or one-offs, cannot easily be reused. A variety of electronic systems may be prototyped by using breadboards, from small analog and digital circuits to completecentral processing units (CPUs). URL: (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breadboard ) 2. Resistor A resistor is a passive two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as a circuit element. The current through a resistor is in direct proportion to the voltage across the resistor's terminals. This relationship is represented byOhm's law: where I is...

It is important to note that coercive power is used most effectively in scenarios where the business is in a crisis or is somehow threatened. Coercive power can also be used effectively when attempting to make cuts in personnel as a result of management shifts and transitions. Legitimate Power Legitimate power...

...A1 Unseen Paper 1 Poem- Hello Day – Worldwide This poem is about the poet imitating a radio announcement to express his desire for a worldwide Hello Day to break through social barriers, which exist in daily life. The title of the poem is ambiguous and at first sight absurd and provocative. ‘Hello’ has denotations of greeting and connotations of friendliness. The parenthesis help to establish the setting of the poem, which is possibly a radio station, where an announcement is being made, or this could simply be a part of the poets imagination. ‘World Hello Day’ is possibly a day fabricated by the poet. In the first stanza, distance and unfamiliarity is created with the use of the pronoun ‘their’. A hyperbole is used to describe the hostility that exists in the opposing town, as good morning is considered ‘offensive’. This reveals the poets dissatisfaction towards people in ‘their town’. The poet imitates the people in the other town by inserting sophisticated and aggressive diction, which also portrays the tense atmosphere in the other town. The word ‘unsolicited’ not only highlights coldness and dissociation, but also is suggestive of conventions that exist in modern society. The word ‘provocative’ shows the poets feeling of bewilderment. The use of enjambment here is perhaps imitative of the persuasion of businessmen and lawyers who speak with tone. The tone is uncertain in the first stanza as the poet uses the word ‘maybe’, which indicates his uncertainty for what they...
