Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is disorder found in many people who have a mix of past family problems, social problems, or certain personality traits. A person may have an eating disorder especially if they do a sport that requires their body to look a certain way such as ballet or modeling. People who always worry what they look like and try to be perfect may also have an increased risk of having anorexia nervosa. Doctors will diagnose a person with anorexia nervosa after several medical tests. The doctors will first take the patients height, weight, and age. They will then compare those statistics with the average healthy person who contains those traits. The doctor will then check the patients hearts, lungs, skin, blood pressure, hair, and perform blood tests. After the doctor performs these steps they will then ask the patient a series of personal questions. From there it is up to the doctor to diagnose the patient with a disorder if they have one. Anorexia nervosa is most common in young white females. Around 100,000 people in the U.S. have anorexia nervosa. Most of these are young females aged 15-24. Anorexia nervosa is very rare in black females. The effects of anorexia nervosa can be very unhealthy and even lead to death if not treated right away. People will obviously weigh much less than they should. They will be afraid of gaining weight and refuse to stay at a normal weight. People will vomit and also obsess over food. Anorexia nervosa is mostly a mental issue with people. People who think they have anorexia nervosa should talk to a doctor right away. The issue is better to be treated sooner than later. Patients should talk with a counselor on how to eat well and stay healthy. Getting over anorexia nervosa takes a lot of time and commitment and is very easy to fall back

Helpful Hints to Decrease Global Warming

...Helpful Tips to Decrease Global Warming Global warming is impacting the world by increasing the average global temperature and causing many changes that are not visibly noticeable. These changes are costing us our healthy planet and safer world because of the serious effects it has on the climate and our lives. The causes of global warming can be reduced by taking action and altering our life styles in several ways. Taking action to help minimize global warming will have a huge impact on the amount of man-made air pollution that is produced. Global warming is the reason for the warmer climate on Earth. “There are more and more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, more heat is trapped which makes the Earth warmer… known as Global warming” (Greenhouse Effect). Our actions on Earth are one of the variables that contribute to global warming and will affect the Earth if continued at the current rate. It has already shown noticeable consequences to our climate, surroundings and weather. “There has been three periods of global warming since 1850; the most recent warming was originally thought to have been caused by emissions by man of carbon dioxide” (Global Warming Science). Between these three periods the Earth cooled leading to the changes in climate “for the past 11,000 years” according to Global Science. Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect which is the cycle of light, heat of the Earth’s surface and Earth’s atmosphere. “The greenhouse gases reach the Earth’s...

I’ve been a teacher of mathematics at Concord-Carlisle High School in Massachusetts for the past 10 years. Littlefield

...Background In early January 2006, Littlefield Technologies (LT) opened its first and only factory to produce its newly developed Digital Satellite System (DSS) receivers. Littlefield Technologies mainly sells to retailers and small manufacturers using the DSS’s in more complex products. Littlefield Technologies charges a premium and competes by promising to ship a receiver within 24 hours of receiving the order, or the customer will receive a rebate based on the delay. The product lifetime of many high-tech electronic products is short, and the DSS receiver is no exception. LT managers have decided that, after 268 days of operation, the plant will cease producing the DSS receiver, retool the factory, and sell any remaining inventories. As this is a short life-cycle product, managers expect that demand during the 268 day period will grow as customers discover the product, eventually level out, and then decline. In the initial months, demand is expected to grow at a roughly linear rate. Demand is then expected to stabilize. Eventually, demand should begin to decline at a roughly linear rate. Although orders arrive randomly to LT, management expects that, on average, demand will follow the trends outlined above. Management’s main concern is managing the capacity of the factory in response to the complex demand pattern. Delays resulting from insufficient capacity undermine LT’s promised lead times and ultimately force LT to turn away orders. In particular, if an order’s...

The establishment and maintenance of safe and supportive classrooms that contribute to high quality student achievement are critical skills that are rarely taught at the university. Consequently, those skills must be crafted and honed “on the job.” Each school and each classroom presents its own unique challenges, and because every year brings a new group of students, teachers must become lifelong learners. ...if they study ? tudy guides, note-taking, and flashcards have also been helpful to me when it comes to studying. When preparing for a test, I take notes, when completing a study guide, I refer back to my notes that I took to complete the study guide. While completing the study guide, I create flashcards to prepare for memorization and to further understand the test. Rhymes and songs have always been successful to me because it helps me with remembering the material. tudying reassures that when it’s time to take a test you’re going to be successful in completing the material. Note-Taking While reading the material, you’re able to take the time to stop and jot down notes; something like a little summary of the text you just read. In the past, when reading the material, if I didn’t write down notes, I would totally forget what I read. It’s a great way to go back and review the text instead of going back to read the textbook. When preparing for a test, I usually re-read the textbook and read over the notes that I took ,but sometimes if you have good note-taking skills, reviewing your notes would sound like a little summary of the text. Flashcards You’re able to create definitions of the important text that might be on the test. When it’s not the exact words that I’m getting tested on, I usually create important information on a flashcard with a context clue for a hint. A good use of memorization, with a flashcard, you’re able to create the...

...Team Summary: As a group we have discussed how learning about your reasoning skills can help you write a research paper or give a presentation. We also discussed how it can help improve your work environment. The group as a whole agrees that by learning about your reasoning skills you can help to improve the weaknesses and strengthen your skills all together. You can improve these skills in several ways; workshops, classes, and just paying attention to your own habits and focusing on changing them for the better. The career planner tool that we used to figure out what areas needed to be improved also supplies you with helpful hints on how to sharpen our skills. We all agreed that improving these skills is imperative to becoming a more successful student and will add structure to our academic assignments. For example, you can start by applying the skills that you feel most confident with to an assignment to form the foundation to work up from and then try to find ways to utilize the skills that aren’t your strongest to build up the assignment. We agreed that learning about any area that may need improvement is what the academic experience is about so that you come out of it a better version of yourself. The career planner is a great tool because it is like having a personal coach to help you progress through your higher education and apply it to your career in the future. As for how learning your reasoning skills can improve your work environment we agreed that it would definitely...

...the VIE model into the Codification. The beginning of each section of this Roadmap contains quotes from the appropriate Codification paragraphs. In addition, for those of you still trying to find your way through the Codification, we thought it would be helpful for each Codification paragraph to be followed by a reference to the corresponding pre-Codification paragraph from Interpretation 46(R), as amended by Statement 167. Although ASC 810-10-55-37 (paragraph B22 of Interpretation 46(R)1) might not roll off your tongue like “B22 of FIN 46(R)” used to, the Codification is here to stay. However, we suspect that just as there are probably a few accountants who are clinging to their last version of the FASB’s Original Pronouncements (we know you are out there!), there are some that might need a little help finding the new VIE guidance in the Codification. Accordingly, Appendix D of this Roadmap includes a guide that cross-references the paragraphs from ASC 810-10 to the guidance in Interpretation 46(R), as amended by Statement 167. The reference guide also lists the accounting topic and section from the Roadmap that these paragraph references apply to. (We thought a few hints and a little “cheat sheet” among friends might be helpful while we all adjust to the new layout of the...
