Land of the Cyclops

...Narrator: Then we sailed on with aching hearts after the hardest fought war with the Trojans. We may have been victorious but the wrath of the gods, who sailed with the Trojans, kept us from sailing home safely. We lost a lot of people from the war but we also suffered just as much with the perilous journey we have been through. Form the recent land of the Lotus-eaters we now face another adversary, Polyphemus, a son of Poseidon, the sea god from the land of the Cyclopes. S1: Finally! We’ve reached a land. S2: Yeah, it’s really tough being on the sea for a long time. (Looks around) I wonder what kind of place of this? Traveller: Oh, this is certainly rare... are you travellers by any chance? I’m guessing you’re lost. S4: Well, not really, but... yeah we’re kind of lost. Traveller: Hmmm... Don’t get the wrong idea, but this is a place you wouldn’t want to be in. S2: *confused* Huh? What do you mean? Traveller: *clears throat* This is the land of the Cyclopes. They are rude, lawless giants who follow no god. They are their own laws; I heard they themselves don’t get along well with each other, how much more with you? S1: Haha... well at least they don’t eat men, right? S2: Definitely! *laughs* Traveller: *smiles* They do. ... Traveller: If I were you, I’d go and leave this place as soon as possible. I just really needed to get something here *shows bag* otherwise I wouldn’t have even considered going here. It’s safe around the coast but any further would be insanity...

...RA C K : A NA LY ZE TH E O F F ER BT R - CP -C TR -A NA LY ZE O F F ER .M OV Hey guys! In this video, what I’m going to do is I’m going to go over a copy-and-paste campaign that has made me tens of thousands of dollars this year 2012. It’s in a niche that I was not very familiar with – fashion. I’m sure everyone watching this video right now, you’ve seen all sorts of these daily deal sites like Groupon and LivingSocial, etc. coming out. One big thing is daily deal fashion sites. This site, BeyondTheRack.com, is a daily deal fashion site. When I send people to this website right here through my own ads on any social network – PlentyofFish, Facebook, Pinterest or whatever – and they fill out a couple of fields and hit SEE TODAY’S DEALS, boom! I get paid around $3.60 every time that happens. Our goal in this copy paste tutorial is to show you how to target this site to bulls’ eye targeted customers on Facebook and other social networks so you can start generating customers and getting paid however much the CPA, the payout for the offer is. Keep in mind that you can also take everything we do in this video and you can use this same formula to market other fashion websites. I know absolutely nothing about fashion but I do know how to find people that are interested in it. As a marketer, what’s important for us is just knowing who wants what. ...We stopped at Hard Knox Cafe for lunch. If you come here before 3PM, you can still order brunch. We ordered the fried chicken entree and an egg benedict. Both were very delicious and extremely filling. This place is great because who doesn't like brunch and fried chicken at very affordable prices?! If you don't, I also recommend trying Burma Superstar (Tea Leaf Salad!!!) or Koja Kitchen which are both in the area. Our day ended here because we were very tired and full. We went to Boba Guys on Stockton after this and headed home. However, I did have more stops on our itinerary. If you still have the energy and time to explore some more, here are some places I recommend adding to your trip. STOP 7: Clarion Alley An alley in Mission District filled with murals. STOP 8: Boba Guys High quality boba in San Francisco!!! You definitely taste the quality. I recommend the Dirty Horchata (Horchata + Expresso). STOP 9: Basa Seafood Express Would have loved to try anything here because everything looks super delicious. That was all that we had on our itinerary. Hope you enjoyed and go on this adventure yourself or with loved ones! If there is anything you would add to this itinerary and any tips or more must sees and tries, please leave a...

...holiday?". What do you think?”. “Just what we expected”, laughs Jack. “I‘ll see you in a moment“. I walk into the pub and wait at the bar. It’s quite empty in here. There are posters for a band on the wall, who go by the name of The Tonics, a four piece in sharp suits with floppy haircuts, who I decide might be worth checking out later. In a few moments, I’m served, with an ice cold pint of Peroni, and am heading back out onto the street. RINGING IN MY EARS is the unmistakable sound of Hammond organ, which sends a shiver down my back and a buzz into my heart and tells me that the magic carpet ride has just begun. Jack turns, as I rejoin them. “Good time in Ibiza, was it?”, he asks. “Marvellous“. “It’s alright for some”, he says. “Jetting off somewhere hot. Well, you’re looking well on it, I have to say”. “Nice of you to say so”. “Bring me back a tan like that next time you go”. “I’ll see what I can do”. We laugh. It's warm tonight. For England. I stand and sip my lager and survey the scene. Girls are standing, alone and in groups, boys are leaning against the wall, gangs are hanging round, looking for something to take their attention. Some of them are talking on their mobile phones, others are texting. “So what’s been happening here?”,I ask. "You've not missed a lot, if I'm honest. There have been a few parties. Nothing to write home about". "Whose parties?". "A couple of birds had one. Then some bloke who comes in here. They were all right. But tonight should...

J: Yeah great. G: I have Bestel who is interested in investing 4 million dollars in this company, immediately. All we have to do is sign a few papers and we are done. Now the chairman of the board, do you remember Jack Schneider? Do you remember when he came in? J: I do. G: Ok. So I have known him since I was a kid, he’s almost like an uncle to me. Now he said, basically this is a done deal. Now his shareholders, they don’t get together until 2 weeks after the fourth quarter. But that’s not really a problem because I have talked to him, and worked everything out and done everything that he wanted me to do. J: does he have to get the shareholders to approve the deal? G: Well yeah of course. J: Well how is he going to do that if the quarter ends, he can’t legitimately sign the deal before he gets shareholder approval? G: Ok, well technically I know what you’re saying, but I’m telling you I know this guy. He’s like, like at thanksgiving and when I was growing up we would have picnics together, and he’s given me the OK. He says he’s got these shareholders on his side, and then he’ll have this meeting that’s kind of a technical problem but other than that, he said he will do it so it’s really not a problem. J: So if he does that though, are we authorized to go ahead and make this deal. Because obviously...

Poverty

...Ana College October 1, 2015 Throughout history poverty does not cease to exist. It has been a problem and still is a problem as the years go by. When we come to think about those people in poverty it easy for us to blame the ones it for not wanting to change and better their lives. In my opinion it is more than just a personal problem; it is a societal conflict. As I stated poverty is a conflict and the role it plays in the book and modern society is as a form of slavery and injustice to people. In the book Across the Wire by Luis Alberto Urrea, we get brought into the lives of people in Tijuana who live in these horrible conditions where there is really no way out. Just as conflict theorists would argue this is more than just a personal problem among this community. It is a societal problem where people are pretty much forced to live in these types of conditions with no way out. Just as how Mr. Urrea states these people live in dumps. They lack many basic resources. Their homes aren’t really homes. They are made out of scraps and sometimes even cardboard or aluminum. These are not healthy and sanitary for people to live in. Also, they don’t get the medical attention they need. Kids are running around with “scabies.” (Urrea, 1993). Even the basic need of going to the hospital to give labor is horrible. For example, the women would go to the “free clinics,” to give birth to their babies but instead of getting treated with care they would either die or their babies would die...
