Public Speaking
Introduction
I. The Perfect Spiderman, The Best Spiderman, The Second Series Spiderman maybe, ah it’s the Amazing Spiderman. II. This web slinging, woman loving, butt kicking Spiderman is the Amazing Spiderman and is the best movie of all-time III. We all relate to this character because we each of day secretly dream of having super powers and everyone can be the spider behind the mask IV. Both John Belcher and Ethan Seal have been analyzing the plot and watching this movie to give you the best summary outline possible V. The main Points are Peters mysterious past, the Romance in his life, of course the villain, The Lizard.
Main
I. This movie gives us clues to the hidden backstory of Richard Parker's disappearance which adds curiosity. A. A young Peter Parker discovers his father Richard Parker's study has been burgled. Gathering up hidden documents, Peter's parents take him to the home of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben, then mysteriously depart. 1. At home, Peter finds his father's papers and learns he worked with a fellow scientist Dr. Curt Connors at Oscorp. B. His dealing with Oscorp is also peculiar. 1. Fans of the comics understand that not a lot of good things come from this money hungry giant Oscorp, which adds to the Mystery II. Romance with Spiderman has always been a favorite because it adds spice to the mix when a beautiful young lady is involved. A. Years later, a teenaged Peter attends Midtown Science High School, where he is bullied by Flash Thompson and has caught the attention of Gwen Stacey.
1. Emma Stone is the character which plays this role which creates a good acting relationship between her and Andrew Garfield. B. Gwen Stacy is also, of course, in the Oscorp building and her allowance of Spiderman to sneak in causes Peter to enter a lab where a biocable is under development from genetically modified spiders, one of which bites him. 1. On the subway ride home, he discovers that he has developed spider-like abilities. III. Every super needs a villain capable of monstrous destruction which leads us to The Lizard. A. A unique point is the ties that the villain has with the hero. 1. After studying Richard's papers, Peter visits the one-armed Connors, reveals he is Richard Parker's son and gives Connors his father's "decay rate algorithm", the missing piece in Connor's experiments on regenerating limbs. 2. Connors is being pressed by his superior, Dr. Ratha, to devise a cure for the dying head of Oscorp, Norman Osborn. B. Peter does realize it, but eventually he creates the villain by give The Lizard life. 3. The Lizard adds aggression to the Doctor Connors and he tries to turn the whole city into lizards through of a dispersal technology at Oscorp.

C. The Lizard is eventually defeated and Doctor Connors helps save Spiderman. 4. They have a unique relationship which ultimately creates this special unfolding character interaction.
Conclusion
I. We can see that Peters mysterious past, the Romance in his life, and of course the villain, The Lizard, are a wonderful combination to create an Amazing movie. II. As you can see this movie really is The Perfect Spiderman, The Best Spiderman, The Second Series Spiderman, and of course the Amazing Spiderman.

In school, Peter gets into trouble after a basketball challenge with Flash in which Peter accidentally shatters the backboard glass. Uncle Ben changes work shifts to meet with the principal and asks Peter to replace him walking home with Aunt May that night. Peter gets distracted and helps Connors regenerate the limb of a lab mouse. Peter returns home late, having forgotten to pick up Aunt May, leading to an argument with Ben that prompts Peter to storm out. At a nearby deli, a cashier refuses to let Peter buy a chocolate milk since Peter is two cents short, then shortly after a thief robs the store and Peter quietly observes. While searching for Peter, Uncle Ben attempts to stop the thief and is killed when the gun that the thief was holding discharges into his stomach. The thief escapes as Peter finds Ben on the sidewalk.
Afterward, Peter uses his new abilities to hunt criminals matching the killer's description. After a fall lands him inside an abandoned gym, the wrestling poster inspires him to create a mask to hide his identity. He adds a spandex suit and builds mechanical devices to attach to his wrists to shoot a bio cable "web". Peter accepts a dinner invitation from Gwen, where he meets and has a tense conversation with her father, police captain George Stacy, over the masked vigilante's motives. After dinner, Peter reveals his identity to Gwen and they kiss.
Connors refuses to rush the drug-testing procedure and put innocent people at risk. Ratha fires Connors and decides to test Connor's serum at a VA hospital under the disguise of a flu shot. In an act of desperation, Connors tries the formula on himself. After passing out, he awakens to find his arm has regenerated. Discovering that Ratha is on his way to the VA hospital, Connors, whose skin is turning green and scaly, goes to intercept him. By the time he gets to the Williamsburg Bridge Connors has become a violent hybrid of lizard and man, tossing cars, including Ratha's, over the side of the bridge. Peter, now calling himself Spider-Man, snatches each falling car with his web-lines and in the process saves a little boy from a burning car.
Spider-Man suspects Connors is the lizard and unsuccessfully confronts the creature in the sewers. The Lizard learns Spider-Man's real identity from the name on an abandoned Camera and follows Peter to school, bursting up through the toilets. The students and faculty flee the school in terror as Peter and the lizard fight, causing much damage to the school. In response, the police start a manhunt for both Spider-Man and the lizard. The police corner Spider-Man and Captain Stacy discovers that he is really Peter. The lizard plans to make all humans lizard-like by releasing a chemical cloud from Oscorp's tower, to eliminate the weaknesses he believes plagues humanity. Spider-Man confronts and battles the lizard on the roof of Oscorp tower and eventually disperses an antidote cloud instead, restoring Connors and earlier victims to normal, but not before the lizard mortally wounds Captain Stacy. Before his death, Captain Stacy makes Peter vow to keep Gwen safe by leaving her out of it. Peter initially does so by avoiding going to Captain Stacy's funeral. Later at school, Peter sits behind Gwen in class and is told by the teacher not to make promises that can't be kept but he whispers to Gwen that "those are the best kind" and Gwen smiles.

Catcher in the Rye- Ducks

...lagoon in Central Park, down near Central Park South. I was wondering if it would be frozen over when I got home, and if it was, where did the ducks go. I was wondering where the ducks went when the lagoon got all icy and frozen over. I wondered if some guy came in a truck and took them away to a zoo or something. Or if they just flew away. (pg. 13)" Holden Caufield is a 17 year old boy who deals with the issue of growing up. Holden is at his time in age where he is forced to grow up, even though he doesn't want to. Holden has been trying to protect his innocence for quite some time, as he does not like the idea of growing up. Holden’s misunderstanding of the ducks is one example of his innocence. Knowing where ducks go during the winter is a simple fact that young children learn as they grow up. We do not know for sure how much Holden knows about the ducks, but we can conclude that this little fact, which is common knowledge, shows how Holden is protecting his innocence. Holden is trying to prevent himself from growing up by protecting himself from simple childhood facts. ""Hey, listen," I said. "You know those ducks in that lagoon right near Central Park South? That little lake? By any chance, do you happen to know where they go, the ducks, when it gets all frozen over? Do you happen to know, by any chance?" I realized it was only one chance in a million. (pg. 60)" In this scene, Holden is in a taxicab being taken to a hotel. He is thinking about the ducks...

Pedophilia And Abuse In The Media

...it again near the end of his senior year. One advance he frequently made at me was comparing me to a “loli”, a common character trope in anime that involves a young female character or a female character that appears young, frequently being sexualized. A friend of his told me one day that the whole reason Cameron was interested in me was that I looked like one of these lolis. Cameron’s actions make it very clear: the way media treats abuse, pedophilia, and similar topics is very harmful to victims. Cameron is just one of many examples of how the normalization and even romanticizing of abuse and pedophilia enables abusers. Seeing these things in the media makes abusive individuals think that what they’re doing is justified because hey, it...

The Achievement of Desire

...The Achievement of Desire RICHARD RODRIGUEZ Hunger of Memory, the autobiography of Richard Rodriguez and the source of the following selection, set off a storm of controversy in the Chicano community when it appeared in 1981. Some hailed it as an uncompromising portrayal of the difficulties of growing up between two cultures; others condemned it because it seemed to blame Mexican Americans for the difficulties they encountered assimilating into mainstream American society. Rodriguez was born in 1944 into an immigrant family outside San Francisco. Though he was unable to speak English when he entered school, his educational career can only be described as brilliant: undergraduate work at Stanford University, graduate study at Berkeley and Columbia, a Fulbright fellowship to study English literature in London, a subsequent grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. In this selection, Rodriguez analyzes the motives that led him to abandon his study of Renaissance literature and return to live with his parents. He is currently an associate editor with the Pacific News Service in San Francisco, an essayist for the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, and a contributing editor for Harper's magazine and for the Opinion section of the Los Angeles Times. His other books include Mexico's Children (1991) and Days of Obligation: An Argument with My Mexican Father (1993), which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction.
