Will Grayson, Will Grayson

The novel that I read was titled Will Grayson, Will Grayson. The novels is split up into two different ways. The first Will Grayson lives in uptown Chicago, the author presents his side of the story like a normal book would be written. The other Will Grayson who lives in downtown Chicago, the author presents him by not using any capital letters while writing his side of the story. The first Will Grayson is straight and likes a girls named Jane. Jane likes Will throughout the first half of the book. It isn’t until she gets a boyfriend that Will realizes that he is in love with her. Will best friends name is Tiny, which is ironic because he is the opposite of Tiny. All 3 of them attempt to get into a concert, The Maybe Dead Cats at a 21 and over bar. Of course Will expensive fake I.D. does not fool the bouncer at the door. Will tells Tiny and Jane to go ahead in and to call him when they decide to leave. So Will is stuck wandering around town and decides to go into Frenchys. the other will grayson is gay. he meets a guy online named isaac, they have everything in common and will believes that he is in love with isaac. they finally set a time, date and place to meet up in uptown chicago. once he gets off the train he find the place where they are supposed to meet, frenchys. he doesn’t believe it at first, that isaac wants to meet at frenchys, because frenchys is a porn shop. once inside he finds two guys inside, a pierced guy standing at front who should be i.d.ing people, and an awkward teenager who doesn’t know why he’s there. The gay Will grayson asks the straight Will Grayson. They have a long conversation about how ironic it is. Then they go outside, where the gay Will Grayson gets a phone call from his friend Maura, explaining that she made up the fake profile to find out more about him. He is so mad that he vows never to talk to Maura again. When Tiny comes with Jane to pick up the straight Will Grayson, Tiny and the gay Will Grayson fall in love, and Tiny who has written a musical decides to write him into the musical as his main love interest. While Tiny is talking to the gay Will, the straight Will decides to take Jane for a walk, and when they kiss on the park bench that is when Jane reveals that she has a boyfriend. A few days before the show, Tiny decides that the play is all wrong and that he has to rewrite because all good musicals have a theme. Tiny’s theme is himself. So he rewrites the entire musical and and names it “Hold Me Closer,” and decides that the theme must be love. This novel is fantastic and I recommend that anyone who enjoys real life situation books to read this book. It was a bit diffucult to read in places, if your vocabulary is not up to par.
