...Answering the questions on the text: "Hard Rock Cafe - Forecasting" 1. Describe three different forecasting applications at Hard Rock. Name three other areas in which you think Hard Rock could use forecasting models. Hard rock café divide the forecast in long term methods where the expectations are to establish a better capacity plan and short term methods where they look for good contracts with suppliers for leather goods (clothes etc.) and definately to be more negotiable with the suppliers of food products. Also hard rock café pays attention to potencial revenues using pricing and costing information of every café. Short term of sales forecasts are calculated each month by every established site. Forecasting models could be useful in other areas like: 1. New food product and its impact. Will they be accepted by the consumers? (Long term,Strategic) 2. Human Resource forecasting. Are they good enough on what they are doing or could it be more efficient in another way? (Medium term,Operating) 3. Forecasting economic information like economic crisis or growth. 4. Opening new establishments. Is the market big enough? (Long term, Strategic) 2. What is the role of the POS system in forecasting at Hard Rock? The Point Of Sale system collects diary data of almost every consumer in every single café. That means huge information if we check out the number of visitors in almost every Hard rock Café. Furthermore this huge information means even...

...Guide to Guys (1995), the introduction of which is included here. Despite its title, "Guys vs. Men" is not a comparative study of these two basic types of males. Men and manhood have been written about far too much already, says Barry. But guys and guyhood are neglected topics, and even though he "can't define exactly what it means to be a guy," Barry's essay lays out "certain guy characteristics" that distinguish his quarry from other warm-blooded animals in the field. This is a book about guys. It's not a book about men. There are already way too many books about men, and most of them are way too serious. Men itself is a serious word, not to mention manhood and manly. Such words make being male sound like a very important activity, as opposed to what it primarily consists of, namely, possessing a set of minor and frequently unreliable organs. But men tend to attach great significance to Manhood. This results in certain characteristically masculine, by which I mean stupid, behavioral patterns that can produce unfortunate results such as violent crime, war, spitting, and ice hockey. These things have given males a bad name. And the "Men's Movement," which is supposed to bring out the more positive aspects of Manliness, seems to be densely populated with loons and goobers. So I'm saying that there's another way to look at males: not as aggressive macho dominators; not as sensitive, liberated, hugging drummers; but as guys. And what, exactly, do I mean by "guys"? I don't...

...My reason for thinking this is that unlike athletes in other sports who only have to prepare and take care of themselves and their equipment, a rodeo athlete has to ensure that himself, his equipment, and his horses are all in good working condition to be a true winner. Normally when a guy loses at a rodeo it is because he hasn’t spent the time in the practice pen that is needed for winning or his equipment failed him from lack of upkeep, but a true winner comes prepared for the day of battle and never loses but only gets beat from time to...

...Dale Peterman Reading response 1 “Guys vs. Men” After reading this I would have to agree with him completely. I think that every scenario he used sounds like something I would do. And I am unfortunately 100% a guy. This was a very interesting article to read. One part that I thought was hilarious was the part when he was talking about running the 40 yard dash in the office and he challenged his co-worker. I can relate to this so much because I have a family full of athletes and we have been challenging each other for years in every category of sports. I want to say first off running a 5.77 is extremely slow at any age. But I can just imagine my family members (which are all guys) challenging me to a foot race and actually going outside and doing it. He said guys will take small challenges and that is extremely true. I and my family will argue about who is the best at video games because that just what guys do. But on the other hand I have a few uncles who would never waste their time to sit down and play a video game. Because that isn’t something that men usually do. He also mention that men are more serious than guys which is very true my uncle usually doesn’t talk but when he does he means business I would categorize my uncle as a man. But when he said that guys cheat I would have to disagree with him on that simply because I feel like I do all the things that he would consider a guys does but at the same time I have never cheated on...

...Manhood and its Manliness vs Your Basic Guy It has been known guys have a different point of view than a girl, but do guys really have to go past the limit of certain things to get through it all? In Dave Barry’s essay he states many things saying guys like neat stuff and like taking on pointless challenges. His tone is also in a joking matter for his essay, meaning not everything he says is serious. It’s probably there for comedy relief. Many of the things he says may be true but this doesn’t account for every guy out there. Though it might have happen sometime in a guy’s life doesn’t really mean it’s every day in their life. In his essay he has it broken down into three sections stating guys like neat stuff, really pointless challenges and do not have a moral code of some sort. Guys liking neat things doesn’t really mean like something that is clean like he states. It’s more mechanical base for most guys but there are some guys fascinated by other things than just cars and technology. Some can be interested in art, food, read and much more. That is a bias thing that most people think that guys find neat. When coming to challenges guys don’t back down from one any matter how stupid or meaningless it is. They like to be first or like to prove they are better than others. Yes, there will be some guys out there doing pointless challenges that make no sense at all. Though there are some challenges out there that guys would take seriously and try their best to do well at. For...

...that two guys would travel round together, that’s uncalled of out here. But after analysing the situation, I realised that they needed each other and their friendship is what many of the people here would admire and perhaps be jealous of. Who am I to judge? George confined me about the troubles he had with Lennie and with the major problems they dealt with in Weed. It was hard to hear about such a terrible occurrence. I felt deep sympathy for George but I knew that Lennie meant no harm. I can tell a bad guy from a mile off. Still, I was to become quite weary of Lennie. His strength was his biggest weakness. He seemed to be unable to control it. But still, the poor guy wanted a pup, so I gave him one of my lasses mutts so that he could have a distraction. I knew he would kill it but the guy just wanted to pet its fur, what harm was that to a runt? We saw Lennie’s full power when he crushed Curley’s hand in the bunkhouse. I’ve never seen something like it! George told Lennie to get him and by god did he ruin that son of a bitch’s hand. He had it comin’ to him, purposely aggravating the poor fella. Lennie knew it was wrong to hurt the guy but stupid Curley carried on until it was inevitable. Even though Lennie was the one who hurt Curley I felt most sympathy for him, that why I told Curley to not tell no one about it as I wanted to protect George and Lennie. They have had too much trouble already. The rest of the guys on the ranch seek my authority. The ranch guys and I took...

...For the guys: So, you like two girls. Maybe more, it sucks, torn between them, not knowing which one to go for, right? The bad idea is to go for both (or in some cases, “all”) of them. What I’m here to do is try to help you narrow down which girl you should go for. Not to be mean or picky, but it’s just sort of a guideline. How do I know which one to chase after? More often than not, each of these girls will be different, both in personality or lifestyle. Maybe from different cliques, different cultures, whatever, but I’ll try to go over what I can. Girl #1 - DGAF Chick This is sort of self explanatory… the DGAF girl doesn’t well… give a fxck. She likes to party, flirts a lot, and has fun being single. There’s a good chance that she drinks, hopefully no drugs, but she’s fun to be around. Usually hangs out with a lot of guys, so that could prove, um, “worrying.” The fact that she hangs out with all these dudes can mean that you’ll get jealous, A LOT, and that you’ll get sort of protective of her. The constant flirting also sends off a lot of mixed messages. Do not go for this girl.Chances are, you’ll be happy that it seems like she’s into you up until you find out she’s like that to almost every guy. You got played, son. Girl #2 - The Shy Girl The Shy Girl is usually really cutesy, and usually hangs out with a lot of other cutesy girls too. Probably a little awkward around guys, but in a good way. They’re usually really nice, and actually pretty...

...2016 Dave Barry's essay “Guys vs. Men” was about how “Men” has more negative qualities unlike “Guy” which shows that a guy can be indulge in stereotypical characterization. He mentions different mindsets between a male “Guy” and “Men”. He talks about how moral battles between women and men. How male “Men” introduced a new stupidity like war, violence, dangerous sports ect. He said that there this book is not about men and manhood, there are too many books already about men, that his book was what its like to be a guy. He states how guys tend to not have deep intimate conversations about their feelings. Also, how guys are simple creatures and not feel the need to live up to this higher expectation of what a man needs to be. His essay basically explained how a guys do things together and then upgrade just to follow the same pattern. “So i'm saying that there is another way to look at males: not as aggressive mach dominators; not sensitive, liberated, hugging drummers; but as guys”(915) I chose this quote because I felt that it was more of a thesis and that it drags the reader to keep reading. Passage #1: “When they are being just plain guys, 1.they aren't so much actively evil as they are lost”(Barry 907) Guys aren't so much actively evil as they are lost, when they are being just plain guys. When guys are being themselves they aren't evil but they are mostly confused as they come off to be. Passage #2 “[…] 1.guys who consider themselves to be...

...Composition February 2, 2008 Summary DAVE BARRY Guys vs. Men Dave Barry’s insight in Guys vs. Men begins to explore the world of the male figure. Barry touches base on a few things that he believes separates guys and men apart. Barry first mentions that “Guys Like Neat Stuff” and begins to explain that guys enjoy things that are unnecessary to have and perhaps a bit over the top but they are things that make them happy and keep them entertained. Barry then moves into talking about how “Guys Like A Really Pointless Challenge”. Barry mentions that guys often engage in activities that are beyond what should be the standard rational of middle aged men. His thoughts on how “Guys Do Not Have A Well-Defined Moral Code” briefly delves into how guys know that they are expected to perform and act a certain way, yet they often completely disregard these ideas held by others on how they should act, not on purpose but just because they are in fact guys. The last thing Barry brings up is that “Guys Are Not Great At Communicating Their Intimate Feelings, Assuming They Have Any”. Barry presents the idea that guys tend to keep personal issues, just that, personal. Guys generally keep answers to questions they don’t want to answer brief at best, and the only time they share how they feel is most often when in the company of another guy friend. Dave Barry’s Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting and seemingly true effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that...

...really in love and care about the other. No one wants to tell their significant other something important and for the other not to listen or remember. It is like a waste of breathe telling someone something so important to you and them not to even care. That is why most couples who are falling in love tend to actually listen to each other’s personal life. They like finding out what they like and what they don’t like, because what if the guy buys a beautiful bouquet of red roses but didn’t know that the girl’s favorite flowers are sunflowers. To the girl that is turn off because she would have rather appreciated receiving her favorite flower other than the red roses. It is important to know what their favorite things are because that shows they are seriously interested in them and not just another person in their lives. In You Just Don’t Understand by Deborah Tannen is about the different ways that men and women communicate with each other and the certain things men don’t find important like “gossip” (97). Only in the beginning of a relationship do guys show...
