As a high school student, I had no idea what I wanted to do going into my sophomore year. I thought I had plenty of time to decide. What I did not know was how quickly that decision would find me. I started theater my sophomore year of high school with the musical Young Frankenstein and immediately fell in love. Eventually, I worked up to be the student technical director for one of our fall musicals. I loved every second that I was student technical director, the responsibility, the leadership, the teaching, the visions, the stress, the creation of it all, all of it was incredible. It gave me the opportunity to give others the love I experienced during my first show. I hoped that they would see how incredible theatre was and they would feel …show more content…
In the moment I knew everything that I did to make her dream come true was worth all the blood, sweat, and tears. Her smile was worth it all. That was when I really knew that I wanted to do technical production. Not necessarily for me, but to make other people’s visions come true. The look she had on her face was a look I want to be able to give all the designers I work with and I can accomplish that through theater design and production. As a child anything seemed possible. As I grew up I saw that there is an impossible. Theater allows designers to dream of the impossible and me to make the impossible possible. At UC I feel like I can accomplish that and learn an incredible amount to help me accomplish that even more. Since UC has a graduate program as well as an undergraduate program, I feel like I would be able to learn not only from the teachers, but also a tremendous amount from the older students. I expect to gain knowledge in all fields of the technical theater department and learn new skill with each area. Alongside this I also expect to build a deeper knowledge of areas I already have previous knowledge of, and to learn a different way of running a theater program and the dynamics of different crews within a
