...their credit card balance in full; others think making minimum payments is the best solution. The truth is, it doesn’t matter if you are paying in interests or paying in full. Your credit score is based on your credit report and whether you carry a balance or not isn’t noted in your credit report. A high debt-to-credit limit ratio, or utilization, can result in a lower score. According to “Whatsmyscore.org”, a credit score is the numerical value calculated from information in your credit file that is used by lenders and landlords to assess your “credit risk” at that time. A total number of points—a credit score—help to predict how creditworthy you are, that is, how likely you are to repay a loan and make the payments on time. Credit reporting companies calculate scores in different ways, but all use a complex mathematical model to take into account factors like payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, new credit and types of credit, among others. This score changes over time to accurately reflect your current financial behavior. In order to ensure that credit reports are fair for everyone, certain factors are not included in your score. To name just a few, race, religion, national origin, sex, age, salary, and any other information not proven to be predictive of future credit performance are never included in calculating your score. On the other hand, A credit report is a summary of your financial reliability—for the most part, your history of paying debts and...

The animals were punishing the humans for not respecting their right to live along side with them. The Cherokee soon realized that they must perform rituals to avoid the diseases, give thanks to the animals and land for what they used, and that is when they began to understand the importance of respect for all living things and not dominion over them (Perdue, 2007). Cherokee’s today believe that they are one with their environment and what they do has ripple effects across the board. Working in harmony is an important practice for the Cherokee people. They believe that if the balance of nature is upset then trouble will find them. They understand the ramifications of what the loss of balance can cause, such as sickness, bad weather, failed crops, poor hunting, and many other problems. Cherokee people are...

...Optional Take Home Essay The United States of America is a nation with a proud history of change. The changes that have happened over time has defined us as a nation. We have a history of having a multi diverse population. We are now called a “melting pot.” Each different race or religion in our society today has its own unique history. And it all started with the early colonists because of sailor named Christopher Columbus. It started when Christopher Columbus sailed over in search of a quicker route to India in search for gold and spices. Instead he ended up in North America. He was not aware that he was not in India, and called the natives “Indians.” He sailed for gold and spices, but found neither when he landed in the North American area. So instead of admitting to his failed trip he told King Ferdinand II that there was gold growing on trees. This lie ended up costing the natives there land and a lot of their lives due to the disease and famine that the Europeans brought over with them. Not long after that European countries started sending people to colonize the new found land. Fast forwarding to the late 1700’s, is when the conflict between the American colonies and Great Britain started to heat up. The colonists were already annoyed by the way that the British Parliament was running and controlling what happened in the colonies without even being there, there was no balance between the colonies and the government running them. Eventually the continued frustration...

...Sunday 1:45am, September 15, 2008 (“Wikipedia: Lehman Brothers”, July 15, 2013). With a total assets of $639 billion and $619 billion in debts, Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy filing became the largest in history, It’s assets far surpassed those of previous bankrupt giants such as WorldCom and Enron (“IInvestopedia: Case Study", April 02, 2009). The collapse of the Lehman Brothers is contagious and even triggered the Global Financial Crisis. LEHMAN BROTHERS HISTORY Three brothers – Henry Lehman, Emanuel Lehman and Mayer Lehman in 1850, founded Lehman Brothers. Started as a normal dry-goods store, the brothers grew the business by buying and selling cotton to planters living in and around Montgomery, Alabama ("History of Lehman Brothers", n.d). Eventually the brothers built a cotton storage warehouse together with a cotton merchant John Wesley Durr in a brief partnership form. Thereafter in 1858, an office in New York was opened to fulfill the needs of the growing sales and trades. After Civic War, Lehman Brothers who already have a strong pressure in the cotton commodities trading moved their headquarters to New York City. They also did a part in financing Alabama's reconstruction. In 1870, Lehman Brothers together with a group of cotton merchants and traders founded the New York Cotton Exchange, which is still in operating today. Lehman brothers also start to deal with emerging market...

...effects it imposes on both parties involved. The UK taking up its membership into the EU in 1973 following its establishment in 1967 enabled vast benefits of free trade to be shared amongst members of this trading bloc. However, over a quarterly time series from 1999 to 2014 the UK has been noted to have run a relatively large balance of trade deficit in terms of its trade in goods with the EU (see figure 2), and as such lays emphasis on the UK’s lack of competitiveness, specifically in its manufacturing industry. The importance of the EU has increasingly become more significant in terms of the UK’s total economic activity, generated through trade transactions. Figure 1: ONS As seen in figure 1, there has been a downward trend in the transaction with the EU expressed as a percentage of UK GDP, falling by 231.25% from Q1 of 1991 to Q4 of 2014. In relations to the total trade in goods with the EU, there has generally been a deficit, which increased by 874.9% from 1999 to 2014. From figure 2 it can be observed that the largest deficit of -£21500m occurred in Q4 of 2014 and the lowest in Q4 of 1999. Figure 2: ONS The persistent balance of trade deficit seemed to be a result of imports from the EU to the UK exceeding exports. This could be the case as the percentage increase in exports from transactions made by the UK to the EU was only 43.2%, whereas imports rising by 104.92% from 1999 to 2014 were substantially higher. In this instance, figure 2 may be...

These companies have a long-standing tradition in the U.S as manufacturing giants in the automobile industry, since they began here. With these two cooperategiants, I can evaluate and compare both companies financially. My over all preference. was to buy the General Motors line of cars; in doing this project I wanted to know if by researching each company if I would change my mind. Also, this will enable me to draw a conclusion on which company would be a better investment and which company is doing better as a whole. ...credit scoring by FICO include, BEACON score used by Equifax, Experian/Fair Isaac Risk Model used by Experian and EMPIRICA used by TransUnion. The companies do not disclose the exact formulas but as per FICO resources, the following are the things that make up a credit score and also tend to affect the score. * Payment History (35%): The payment history basically consists of all your past accounts and the regularity with which payments have been made. A bad and irregular payment history causes the score to drop down. * Amounts Owed (30%): The total amount of debts owed to other lenders is also an important consideration in the score calculation. The standard equation is, more the amounts owed, less is the credit score. Hence keep the credit history and current liabilities to the bare minimum. * Length of Credit History (15%): The length of the credit history is also considered. Rule of the thumb is that longer the history, lesser is the score. Thus avoid unnecessary borrowings and keep them to the bare minimum. * New Credit (10%): New credit consists of the newly borrowed loans or newly taken up credit cards. Keeping it small always helps, as the lesser the new credit, the better is the credit score. * Types of Credit Used (10%): The types of credit such as credit cards, types of loans and other credits such as buy now pay later, constitute the score. This proportion is applied to get a number on the credit core rating sale, which usually extends from 500 to 850 or in some cases...

...Case Study #1: New Balance Introduction New Balance is a global athletic shoe and apparel company, founded in Boston in 1906 by a waiter named William J. Riley, who made arch supports for people who walked a lot (Veleva, 2010, p. 2). He began designing running shoes for local organizations and in the 1940s, New Balance was making custom shoes for many different sports, including running, basketball, baseball, tennis, and boxing and in the 1960s, started manufacturing shoes in varying widths in larger quantities (Veleva, 2010, p. 2). New Balance experienced enormous growth and its sales increased more than 600% between 1991 and 2008, achieving $1.61 billion in that year (Veleva, 2010, p. 3). The owners, James and Anne Davis had always operated New Balance in a socially responsible way, but did not have a formal CSR department or strategy for the business and did not advertise their CSR activities to the public (Veleva, 2010, p. 5). In 2006, James and Anne Davis formally integrated CSR into New Balance’s mission and values (Veleva, 2010, p. 5).
