...engine’s technology and business model (History of Search Engines: From 1945 to Google Today). This process involves satisfactory preparation which includes gathering of information that will be relevant to the local culture of the new location, review of Governments laws and restrictions that may apply, and language translation for the host country if it is different from the home country's language (History of Search Engines: From 1945 to Google Today) . Google was viewed by many countries as a threat because they believed Google was threatening their cultural values and norms leading to Google running into many issues in trying to expand itself internationally. Many people felt that by allowing Google to have free reign in their countries it would have allowed them to impose the Anglo-Saxon outlook in a variety of different topics, like history, pop-culture, and even fashion. Many European and Asian countries opposed Google a few different ways to ensure that their culture was not diluted by American society. The most popular has been the creation of a local search engine within the country, many times funded by the local government which controls and regulates the search engine as it sees necessary (History of Search Engines: From 1945 to Google Today). In France, they attempted to set up a local search engine called “Quaero”, meaning “I seek” in Latin, in conjunction with Germany in order to prevent people from using Google....

...soon joined by Sergey Brin, two Ph.D. students at Stanford University, California. This search engine was named “BackRub,” and it was the beginning of a new era. The name of this website was changed afterward to what we know now as “Google.” I have been studying the business case of Google in one of my MIS classes and using the information I gained from that course, I am able to talk about Google. Since my audience is the instructor and my classmates, Google helps you find information that you need for your daily life in college. I want my audience to know by the end of my speech about Google //what is the history of Google, /what makes it special, //and lessons to learn from the experience of Google’s founders. First of all, where does the word “Google” come from? The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of "googol,” which refers to 10100, the number represented by a 1 followed by one hundred zeros. It found its way to the English language, now the verb "Google", was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2006, meaning, "to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet." Their search engine was originally nicknamed "BackRub" because the system checked back links to estimate a site's importance. /// The start of Google was pretty much like the start of every website. It was a research project to these two Ph.D. Students where they hypothesized that a search engine that analyzed the relationships between websites would produce better ranking of results...

We will also see where the two companies are very similar and where they are complete opposites. Both companies will stand out in two different ways. The report will show a company that shows potential growth, while the other shows issues and different path for their business. In the history aspect of our decision, we want to remind you that it may be completely different from what is found in the financial analysis. The background information on what is happening behind closed doors may be very useful. The beginning of Google started in 1995 with Sergey Brin, 21, giving Larry Page, 22, a tour of the Michigan University campus. A year later BackRub was started as a search engine running on Stanford servers but shortly became over powering. In 1997, BackRub was changed to Google. Brin and Page wanted to name their company that would be based off the word “Googol”. Googol is a mathematical term for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. (Google) This was their motto word to show their goal of having on going information available on the web. Google became a company on September 27, 1998 shortly after receiving a $100,000 check from Andy Bechtolsheim. (Google) Brin and Page used this money to hire their first employee and build what is known today has the most popular search engine. Google planned to expand their company providing...

...and researchers scour its history and its works on, hoping to distil general lessons for different firms to duplicate. “The superior results delivered by Google quickly drew the attention of Web surfers, and in short order it became the dominant search engine. But serving up free search results is not, in itself, much of a business model. And that brings us to the second critical innovation: the development of an auction to sell ads linked to search results” (Carr, 2007). Google is broadly known for its working environment inventiveness and advancement inside of the innovation field. Its web crawler is the most broadly utilized inquiry device as a part of the world, its information investigation are progressive, and it keeps on increasing present expectations for advancement and outline with Google Glass, brilliant watches, and cell telephones. ...thinking. This article analyzed that how Google applies paradoxical thinking in their interface, products and '20 percent program'. Then the article indicated that the key to learn paradoxical thinking is open in mind. Paradoxical Thinking Introduction Before we get started, we need to know what is paradoxical thinking. A paradox is a group of statements that are contradictory. And paradoxical thinking is looking at a problem or a situation from different or even opposite perspectives, and finding the same thing which is deep down in two opposite perspectives. (Westenholz, 1993) For example, in the 1830's, Faraday had observed that a current of electricity passing through a wire could cause the magnetized needle, which was located close to the wire, to move in a rotational direction. This was the basis of his electric motor. But he didn't stop with this. He twist his mind and found that moving magnets can cause electricity to flow. This is one of the most brilliant application of paradoxical thinking. Paradoxical thinking has helped plenty of companies to be successful. The following research on Google is trying to find out how they practice paradoxical thinking. Research on Google Company History Google Inc. is an American corporation which provides internet-related products and services. It has the dominant position in this field. Google Inc. was founded in 1998 and set up the workspace in a garage. At the end of 1998, Google was recognized as the search engine of...

...The race for SMS location sharing started long before Foursquare. Before Foursquare there was Dodgeball the brainchild of Dennis Crowley and partner Alex Rainert. Rainert and Crowley worked together on the predecessor of Foursquare before selling to Google in 2005. After selling to Google the Dodgeball founders worked for the technology monolith until 2007. (Burns, 2010.) Cromley cited the departure from Google to be lack of support as he detailed on his Flickr picture (shown right) “It's no real secret that Google wasn't supporting dodgeball the way we expected. The whole experience was incredibly frustrating for us - especially as we couldn't convince them that dodgeball was worth engineering resources, leaving us to watch as other startups got to innovate in the mobile + social space. And while it was a tough decision (and really disappointing) to walk away from dodgeball, I'm actually looking forward to getting to work on other projects again. “(Crowley, 2007). After Dodgeball came Foursquare, the forerunner in SMS location sharing. Foursquare was born in coffee shops and bars in the silicon alley in New York City. Dennis Crowley, former founder of Dodgeball, and Naveen Selvadurai founded the start-up after meeting in 2007. Alex Rainert, of Dodgeball fame, was a seed investor and is now on staff with Foursquare. (Burns, 2010). Foursquare was launched at the South by Southwest festival in 2007 and quickly became the tech world’s new darling. As with any new technology...
