...Osama Bin Laden’s Death: a Hit or a Miss for the US? A Reaction Paper on the Death of Osama Bin Laden Raquel G. De Leon Philippine Christian University May 28, 2011 Bin Laden’s Death: A Hit or a Miss for the US? The United States caught the world by surprise with its announcement that it finally killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan on May 1, 2011. Following a decade of manhunt and costly war against Iraq and the Taliban, the mastermind of the 11 September 2001 attacks to the US’ economic and military symbols has finally repaid his actions. He was killed in his safe house in Pakistan and was buried to the sea following Islamic burial traditions. The raid, however, was unknown to Pakistani authorities, which could compromise whatever relations the two countries still have. Nonetheless, Osama is dead, and the US can now relax with the thought that its shores are now safe from the claws and pangs of terrorism, or is it so? Bin Laden’s death caused a flurry of reactions from all over the world. Some say that justice to the bombing victims had been served. Others, however, insist that although the US Military annihilated him, he already drained American coffers with trillion in dollars considering the costly wars it waged with the Iraq and the Taliban, as well as the expensive manhunt that lasted for a decade, thus raising the question of the significance of such death. Reactions do vary, with one saying that there is not any single human being, either directly or indirectly;...

...LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL CREATED BY: KRISTYL MAE GEMOTA BSHRM 4C Life is Beautiful opens on a note of hilarity as the protagonist, Guido, and his best friend, Ferruccio, rocket down a country slope, the brakes on their rickety old car having given way. They pass through a parade, and the audience is immediately aware of where we are: the bystanders, believing Guido to be a Fascist leader, all raise their arms in the "Heil Hitler" sign. While Ferruccio attempts to fix the car, Guido happens upon a little farm, where the woman who is to become the love of his life literally falls from the sky into his arms. "Good morning, princess!" he cries, grinning widely. Guido and Ferruccio find lodgings with Guido's uncle, Eliseo, who recently has come under attack by Fascists. Eliseo also helps Guido to get a job as a waiter in a fancy hotel. Guido visits a moneylender in an effort to secure a loan to open up a bookshop, and he soon realizes that the disagreeable man, Amico, who refuses his loan is also the betrothed of the woman who fell into his arms, Dora. The following series of events demonstrates what a truly extraordinary character Guido is: he is uniquely capable of manipulating his surroundings so that events that are "coincidences" take on the aura of genuine magic. ...CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION A NSWERS TO Q UESTIONS 1.1 Computer architecture refers to those attributes of a system visible to a programmer or, put another way, those attributes that have a direct impact on the logical execution of a program. Computer organization refers to the operational units and their interconnections that realize the architectural specifications. Examples of architectural attributes include the instruction set, the number of bits used to represent various data types (e.g., numbers, characters), I/O mechanisms, and techniques for addressing memory. Organizational attributes include those hardware details transparent to the programmer, such as control signals; interfaces between the computer and peripherals; and the memory technology used. 1.2 Computer structure refers to the way in which the components of a computer are interrelated. Computer function refers to the operation of each individual component as part of the structure. 1.3 Data processing; data storage; data movement; and control. 1.4 Central processing unit (CPU): Controls the operation of the computer and performs its data processing functions; often simply referred to as processor. Main memory: Stores data. I/O: Moves data between the computer and its external environment. System interconnection: Some mechanism that provides for communication among CPU, main memory, and I/O. ...not because they will always have in their mind the day that the bomb hit and memories of what they saw and what they had to go through just to recover. They wanted to help a lot of other people who were trapped under houses but they could not because after the fire started to spread rapidly they only could look out for themselves or die trying to help them. The main characters are “Miss Toshiko Sasaki, a clerk in the personnel department of the East Asia Tin Works, Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura, a tailor’s widow, Dr. Masakaza Fujii, a physician at his private hospital, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto, pastor of the Hiroshima Methodist Church, Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, a young member of the surgical staff of the city’s large, modern Red Cross Hospital, and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, a German priest of the Society of Jesus.” Thousands of people were killed by the atomic bomb, and these six were among the survivors. They wondered why they lived through their wounds when so many others died. They lived so many lives and saw more deaths and suffering than they ever thought they would see. Even though they lived they went through a great deal of suffering and sometimes wanted to give up but they hung in there and got through it with a few adjustments to their lives. There are a lot of points in this book because everything just happened at one time but here are just a few. My first point is at the moment when the atomic bomb hit and flashed above. The reason why I consider this a main point is because...

...“To kill a mockingbird” by Harper Lee is based on the central idea that is a sin to kill a mockingbird. Atticus tells Scout this when he gives them guns. After, Atticus tells her it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird. She goes to ask Miss Maudie why it’s a sin. Miss Maudie explains it’s a sin because they don’t do anything but sing their hearts out focus. This refers to the thesis statement because it deals with Miss Maudie, Atticus Finch, and Tom Robinson. Miss Maudie is true friend and she has good moral as Atticus. Miss Maudie implies “Indoors, when Miss Maudie wanted to say something she settled her fingers on her knees and settled her bridgework. Then she did and waited. ‘I simply wanted to tell you that there are some men in...

...Cody Gillman Miss L. Smith English IV Period 1 8th October 2012 One of the most significant experiences that I have gone through was Buckmasters World championship. Buckmasters is a world archery competition in Montgomery, Alabama. It is a 3D pop-up competition, which means that you stand in a stand while deer pop-up controlled by a computer. Some pop-ups move at a rate of 3-5 miles per hour. There is a 6X6 black aluminum pad that you have to hit in order to gain the points for that target. These targets are set at distances up to 0-60 yards. There is a qualifying round and the actual world championship. I had to compete with 80 people at the qualifier and 40 people at the World championship. The coolest experience about this was that I got to meet professional bow hunters and national archer competeters. The most nerve racking part is standing up In front of 500 people with spot lights on you shooting at deer on channel 3 news. It was a great experience because I got to go through all of this with my brother, he was also competing. I got to see famous hunters face to face. It was pretty cool for everybody to sit and watch me shoot on T.V. I was very nervouse because you only get one chance. If you miss a shot then its over, you have to hit every target in order to have a chance to win. The winner of Buckmasters is 25,000 dollars and two Artic cat fourwheelers. It was a very neat experience and glad that I made it! I ended up placing 22nd...

...On Friday January 29, the entirety of the Columbus High School freshman saw the play To Kill a Mockingbird. The Springer Opera House hosted the play for multiple high schools. As the lights dimmed and the stage illuminated, 12-year-old Scout took stage. Throughout the duration of the play, Miss Maudie was the narrator. However, in the wildly famous novel by Harper Lee, grown-up Scout was the narrator. Within the brilliantly-written pages of To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout tells the story as an adult looking back on her childhood. This first person narration gave the reader a view of the mind, opinions, and thought process of a child. The play, lasting 120 minutes, had Miss Maudie as the narrator. Miss Maudie was a neighbor that lived across the...
