...The Time to Legalize is now It seems that every new group of youth turning mature fights for some type of right. That being said, I believe this generation’s fight has been for the legalization of Marijuana. Although this has been a controversy for many years now, in the more recent past there have been great strides toward legalization. The first great step was making marijuana legal for medical use, making marijuana legal for the first time since the early 1900’s. In the last year two states, Colorado and Washington, have completely legalized the drug. Marijuana should be legal because it is not harmful but helpful, could help boost the United States economy greatly, and is a very resourceful plant in multiple ways. Among the people in the United States there is a misconception that marijuana kills brain cells. A documentary called “The Union” goes into detail about how there has only been one experiment, done by the Untied State Government, which results made people conclude the drug indeed kills brain cells. They explained that in 1974 before the actual experiment was released to the public, it was said the scientist were giving the monkeys thirty marijuana joints a day, and after ninety days the monkeys died from severe brain damage. The actual experiment was not released to the public until six years later. When the real experiment was finally released it was found that scientists were actually pumping sixty-three extremely potent marijuana joints into the monkeys...

...Synthesis This part of the research provides different facts and studies that will help the research be more informative and truthful. This part was laid by different people who had undergone a related study. Filipinos are very much aware of the negative traits that were passed on by our folks. It is the students who are the affected and influenced on their studies. It is so hard for us to take away the traits we have since birth because it is already running through our blood. Mañana Habit First let us define what Mañana Habit is..Mañana is a Spanish word meaning “Tomorrow” or “At an specified future time”. In short, it is exactly described as “Procrastination”. In Filipino terms, Mañana Habit means “Mamayana” or “Do it Later”. Which results in a very unorganized way of doing things, specifically for office tasks because it affects the overall performance of an employee. Skipping deadlines, stress and anxiety are just some effects of that habit. Why am I sharing this? Simply because I couldn’t get rid of that problem. I’ve realized that this malpractice is hard to remove. Based from my experience, this really affects my overall performance in work. Many of my colleagues says “magalingkakwing, tamadkalang”, meaning I’ve got a talent but it’s just I’m too lazy to do things. Why? Simply because I am easily distracted by my surroundings, events, ideas that pops out of my mind. Leaving the work pending and my mind is wandering all over. The sad part is, you can prolong...

...English: “… but if you go to an interview and you can't shake hands, look someone in the eye and speak in the appropriate register, you are not going to get the job or place at university”. Sheffield Spring academy advises its pupils to avoid the use of informal words such as “hiya” and “ta” when they’re in school. The teachers will try to learn the pupils when to use Standard English and when to use colloquial language. Kathy August from The United Learning Trust (ULT) says that by doing this they will enhance their prospects of getting a job or a place at the university; so basically the reason is that you won’t be declined because of your accent. The thing about slang is that it is very appealing to children and adolescents. Slang is part of Black English. Maria Manning researched how it was used in a school and saw to her big surprise that many children of different ethnic backgrounds used slang. The main reason was that they wanted to rebel against a culture that had nothing to offer them. Both white and black pupils, who are from the most deprived parts of England as Sheffield Spring, feel excluded from the “British culture” which represents Standard English. This could be a reason why the “slang prohibition” won’t work. Maybe it will just make them more belligerent against the culture. According to the text “Standard English and Received Pronunciation” some people think that the link between accent and social status is weakening. On the other hand we have some...

...Current Management Situation (A Profile of Philippine Management) Management activities as planning, organizing and decision-making are cocoons until the leadership triggers the power of motivation in people and guides them towards goals. The primary public service that any business can render is its own economic success, its ability to harness science and technology to the production of better goods and services that increase employment and raise our standard of living. The job of professional management is to conduct the affairs of the enterprise in such a way as to maintain an equitable and workable balance among the claims of the various directly interested groups-stockholders, employees, customers, and the public at large. The origins of Filipino managers Filipino managers are predominantly of indigenous Philippine racial stock although a significant number are of foreign origin, primarily Chinese, Spanish, and American. Filipino managers have come mostly from the higher socio-economic strata of Philippine society. They are composed largely of individuals from outside the metropolitan area, belonging to families with above-average landholdings. Invariably, their career paths were paved by family ties or consanguinity. Thus, Filipino managers are strongly oriented to their families of origin. The breadwinner in their family (usually the father) has an occupation that is either of the independent, upper white-collar or professional categories and whose position...

...Filipino Management Styles Management style tends towards the paternalistic as is often found in strongly hierarchical cultures. However, managers need to be aware of certain strong Filipino characteristics, which underpin personal relationships within the country. Firstly, people are extremely careful to ensure that others do not suffer embarrassment or any sense of shame (hiya) as a result of their own actions or their inability to meet the expectations of others. It is considered to be very bad behavior to criticize another in public, as this is the greatest insult that can be given. To be openly criticized in public results in a loss of self-esteem and personal dignity. Any attack on an individual's self-esteem may have to be revenged. Therefore, managers are keen to treat subordinates with respect whilst, at the same time, maintaining the dignity of the position of boss. Instructions will be given clearly and precisely and subordinates will be expected to follow those instructions with little or no discussion. Secondly, relationship bonds run deep in Filipino culture and the manager expects loyalty. In return for this loyalty the boss will look after the interests of those subordinates. It is very much a reciprocal arrangement. ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLE, THERE ARE DIFERENT APPROACHES AS TO HOW THE MANAGEMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES IS BEING DONE. Weaknesses of Pinoy Workers: 1. Walang bilib sa sarili (No confidence in oneself) 2.
