North Vietnam and the French
“It was patriotism, not communism, that inspired me.” --Ho Chi Minh Ho Chi Minh declared independence from France on September 2 1945 for Vietnam. As a response, France asserted its colonial dominance and this caused a war between them and the Viet Minh. The Viet Minh was a group of nationalists who were communist. By 1954 the Viet Minh almost conquered most areas of Vietnam. The French were defeated and the negotiation of the Geneva Accord stopped the war between the French and the Viet Minh. Vietnam was soon divided into North Vietnam and South Vietnam along the 17th parallel in 1956. While the Viet Minh and the French were fighting, the Cold War between the U.S and the Soviet Union began to take form. The U.S tried to prevent communism from spreading …show more content…
He also stated that South Vietnam did not sign the Geneva Accord as well and therefore was not bound by it. The Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) had to unify the country by force through the Vietnam War. Ho Chi Minh wanted independence from the French and believed in equality. Ho stated “All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”-Ho Chi Minh. The Vietnam War had a large impact on North and South Vietnam. The violent war lasted for 20 years. There was a huge population drop, about 8 million ton of bomb was dropped on Vietnam for 8 years. After the Vietnam war and the fall of Saigon, Vietnam became a unified country. The unified country was led by communist government and renamed the country to Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) in 1976. Saigon was also renamed Ho Chi Minh City. Findings – It was found that SMA and HSM had positive effects on SLO. It was also found that the impact of hedonic motivations on SLO was different between the younger and older, as well as lower and higher income groups of customers. However, no such difference was found between female and male shoppers.
