Over the course of the past several decades the appeal of unions jobs have grew extremely popular, mainly for workers who sought these coveted positions for benefits that these unions offered. Specifically, significant allowances such as job security, competitive wages and benefits, enhanced working conditions, fair and just supervision, as well as the ability for their voices to be heard. In a world where the position and power of the employer trump the hard work of the front end employee’s, organizing unions have given these workers some of the power back. However, this has not always been the case; as in the early nineteen hundreds unions, like many other employers were actually known for the exact opposite.

Hoffa had evaded numerous charges throughout his role with the union. Hoffa had been accused of fraud, stealing money from union funds, jury tampering, and conspiracy which led to his conviction in 1967.
