HOLMESVILLE — Residents of Holmesville and beyond are invited to come, enjoy fellowship and help to support the Prairie Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Throughout Saturday, a plethora of events, activities and fundraisers will take place, offering something for everyone of all ages, according to Lt. On Saturday, a chicken barbeque will begin at 9 a.m.and go until all chicken is sold. Throughout the day, various food vendors also will have items for sale.
At least six guns will be raffled off starting at 5 p.m. at the firehouse. For $10…show more content… Raffle prizes include a storage barn, a patio table and six chairs, an oak glider rocker, a Yeti cooler and a gas grill.
Funds generated throughout the weekend will be used to purchase a LUCAS chest compression system, said Bernhart, noting he's hoping to raise the full amount of the $1,600 purchase price.
The device is an automatic CPR machine, which performs chest compressions, allowing for consistent and effective CPR during an emergency. It not only will help to fill gaps when manpower is short, but provides relief to first responders, who can become fatigued while doing chest compressions over a prolonged period of time, said Bernhart.
Throughout the day, members of the department will give demonstrations of the devices at the fire station. There, visitors also can see the department's new emergency squad, which includes a power load cot, which members also will be demonstrating during the day.
Starting at 4 p.m., a community parade will wind its way through town. 4 p.m., stepping off from Stonecraft Industries, along Benton Avenue. All are invited to participate in the parade, to include fire trucks, floats, businesses and area service and youth organizations. Lineup for the parade starts at 2:30
