Throughout the book “Daniel’s Story” the author writes some of the gut wrenching ways Jews were tortured and killed during the Holocaust. Although every death was dreadful, the one that seemed most atrocious was the death of young Peter. After he Buchenwald is liberated, Daniel, his father, and Peter go on a train to Lodz. During a train stop, four farmer boys start to attack Peter and Daniel, who are too weak to defend themselves against the large boys. The farmer boys beat Peter while he is screaming insults at the farmer boys; Peter does not back down. In the book, the author, “The two who were busy with me go to beat him as he continues to struggle. He is calling them names.” To stop the boys from hurting Peter any further Daniel takes
