Home Of The Brave Research Paper

...Home of the brave, land of the free The biggest sacrifice veterans have to make isn't on the battlefield. The biggest sacrifice they have to make happens right in there own house. Veterans leave their own house, families, and friends to go and fight for our freedom overseas. The only reason we are setting here today, in school, learning with a roof over our head is because of them. Veterans put their life on the line risking everything they have so we can be brave. Veterans go overseas and fight for our freedom and they know when they go over they may not come back. Veterans must be brave, physically strong and most importantly mentally strong. Last year me and my dad were walking into walmart and there was an elderly man sitting in his car...

Oshkosh The Brave Analysis

...This semester’s research topic revolved around the Menominee Native American Chief Oshkosh the Brave, who was appointed leader of the Menominees in 1827. It expanded to include his son Chief Neopit Oshkosh, appointed in 1871, and to his grandson Reginald who was unofficially named as chief in 1913 because I needed to understand the differences in how white Americans remember and revere these individuals compared to how Menominee historians remember them but ended up finding more differences in how different white scholars remember them. Consequently, my historiographical paper is on Reginald Oshkosh (which I believe I will focus on for my Fellowship research), but I foresee my Capstone project needing to be narrowed to only include Chief...

How to Dye Hair Like a Professional

...Senior English Research Paper Which are the screts about hair dying? Writing about this topic would be beneficial to me because I can improve myself in a better way. Learn new techniques to start dying hair. This will also let people know specially woman that you don’t necessarily need to go to an expensive hair salon to do something to your hair, a friend or someone else can do it at home, but that person really needs to know what she’s doing so she or he won’t mess it Up. To some people it will require a lot of experience to learn. Although some people are quick learners like I am, I been experimenting new things all the time, on my own hair my sisters and some friends who are brave enough to let me do their hair. Luckily no one has ever complained on how I do it. That’s the reason why I chose this topic because I know I can learn more by researching on articles, WebPages, and books from professionals. The tips they always give work pretty good. This topic should be pretty interesting and fun to learn about I’m sure that everyone has had some horrible hair dyeing experience and it seems like shaving your hair would be the only solution so that’s why I chose this topic for the people who don’t like to waste money on expensive hair salons can do it now by themselves at home or at a friend’s house. Albanian Women in Their Culture

...September 25, 2015 Abstract This paper examines some over views of the cultural diversity of women in Albania. In Northern Albania there are some women who had decided to take on a gender role of a man. I had some really interesting insight after reading authors’ facts and opinions on a woman’s role in Northern Albania. This paper will explain my insights I have learned from my research about women of Northern Albania. Women in Northern Albania had no liberal rights and were not equal to a man. In particular; what I wrote about in my findings of research was the Albanian women who decided to take on a gender role of a man in their society. Albanian Women in their Culture In this case, my researching of some Albanian women choosing to take the gender role of a man is understandable under their circumstances. I do look at this from a walk-in-my-shoes point of view. The best way to understand is with an open mind and considerate respect of Albanian’s culture. The question in our essay prompt; is can we use a standard “quality of life” evaluating people from their culture? Probably so; but in my research it would be hard not to avoid cultural relativism and or ethnocentrism in examining cultures different from our own. If I were to visit Northern Albania and have the opportunity to meet with these women who decided to take on the gender role of a man; I would not judge their actions of their choices. In amazement I thought how brave they are and strong willed to give up...

A Polar Expedition

...Nansen, a Norwegian explorer, was in of the great Artic explorers of his time and made leaps in the field of Oceanography. “Nansen a well-known athlete, zoologist, and explorer was interested in the currents of the polar seas” (Sverdrup 2014 pg. 14). He was a clear headed man who didn’t let other’s opinions influence him and was willing to take risks in his work. It was his theory that the current would take him to the North Pole and then south toward Greenland (Adams 2014). While his name may never become a common household name without his brave and successful journey the world of oceanography may not be where it is today. All of these combined make him an excellent topic for an oceanography paper. Fridjof Nansen was more however then just an oceanographer. Before the Fram expedition he was already a well-recognized zoologist, and had been made the curator of zoology at eh Bergen Museum. As stated by Harald Sverdrup, “He wrote papers on zoological and histological subjects, illustrated by excellent drawings” (Sverdrup 2013). Shortly after this his interests moved to the physical side of oceanography. He became an oceanography instructor at the University of Kristina and on his two most successful artic expeditions most of the data was collected by Nansen himself (Sverdrup 2013). Before going on his famous expedition to the Arctic Ocean he had already began his work in oceanography by taking a group of five other men to Greenland’s icecaps to gain further knowledge on continental...

Gender & Communication Disney Princesses

...Megan Woodrow December 10, 2012 Human Symbolic Activity Final Paper Gender and Communication: Disney Princesses Evolve Over Time Women have been around since the beginning of time, and have been stereotyped towards having “weaker natures and bodies” and “silly and emotional desires”. The women in the classic Walt Disney films are no exception to this criticism. But there is a saving grace. As women in real life have changed over time, our counterparts in fantasy film animation have also changed. The classic Walt Disney Princesses have therefore evolved through, and with, the media. After thinking back on what made Disney such a huge hit and major part of all of our lives, one answer came to mind: The Disney Princesses. Walt Disney and the Disney Company started out with young and beautiful Snow White, and then eventually moving onto the long line of famous Disney heroines such as Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Mulan, and many more to recent date. There have been so many princesses (and other strong heroines) added to the Disney list, but has anyone ever thought of how these princesses have changed over time, or how they have evolved due to how women in real life are represented in the media today? Before I go into any more on the Princesses themselves, I first need to explain what events and stereotypes have made the basis for the Disney Princesses of the past, and even the for the women of the past, due to how the media and others have portrayed...

Disney Research Paper

...Angel Pelaez Mrs. Larsen AP Language, Period 3 21 November 2014 Disney Research Paper In society, gender roles (a set of social and behavioral norms that are widely considered to be socially appropriate for individuals of a specific sex) are everywhere. For a long time men and women had to do certain things throughout their lives. It was expect that men would be the ones that had to work, while their wives had to stay home to take care of the house, the kids, bills, etc. Over time, these gender roles have changed. Females now take on tasks that only men were supposed to do. Gender roles appear in places that one wouldn’t expect: Disney movies. Disney movies do a great job at showing how gender roles were portrayed at the time the movie came out. Most notably, in these movies, males fulfill a certain appearance stereotype (tall, muscular, handsome, etc.). The same stereotype applies to females as well (makeup, being slim, posture, etc.). In Disney movies, the male protagonist is almost always good-looking, muscular, tall, etc. An example of this is Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid movie. In the movie, he’s tall, light-skinned, muscular, and handsome. He’s almost “perfect”. In the essay ....Happily Ever After (Or What Fairy Tales teach Girls about being Women) Alice Neikirk states “the hero, often a prince, is generally described as brave and handsome.” Over time, the appearance of the male protagonists have changed. For example, Flynn Rider from Tangled is just a slim, not...

New Age Cash Crop

...New Age Cash Crop Imagine you wake up on a Sunday fall morning. America’s economy is back on track, unemployment has dropped considerably, and we pay fewer taxes because the crime rate has gone down and jails aren’t overflowing with prisoners. Regular season NFL games are on today, after a stressful summer with football in a lockout. But first you go through your normal morning routine, go outside to get the paper, come back inside to eat, brush your teeth and what have you. You get in your car, drive to your neighborhood pharmacy, go through the drive through, and get your prescription. You get home and look in your little orange container, which is surprisingly light and quiet. You find three large, green with purple infused, marijuana buds. Right then it hits you, marijuana is illegal, you must be dreaming. But what if that dream could be the reality? Many people believe that the legalizing of marijuana would be good for our economy, good for helping people find jobs, and lowering our country’s crime rate. There will be nothing in the following pages that talks about the medicinal value of marijuana. There is no overwhelming data that shows that getting THC into your blood has a positive medicinal purpose. I, as an endurance athlete, am a firm believer that inhaling smoke is not healthy for you or your body regardless of what cure it may provide.
