...Homo Erectus Through Paper The study of our evolution is very much an open book, which seems to me is having its chapters being written out of order and has no ending. Because we are trying to trace history that there is no history of, it is like we are trying to solve a mystery and the whole world is our crime scene, and oh yeah it's dozens of feet under ground! There seems to be theory after theory and many skeptics, but I believe it to be much simpler than it all seems. The first trace of humanity all comes back to Africa and that is where it all began, as the environment evolved so did we, into different species dependent on natural selection, ultimately ending with us, well for now. If you had what it took you would prevail, if not you died out. Once the woodlands begin to die we traveled to survive. Sure some probably stayed for others emigrated out of Africa to find better food sources. It is true with any animal that you follow the food. The findings at Dmanisi seemed to shake up what we thought was true at one point. Inside of layers of basalt and ash, a team of archaeologists found thousands of stone tools animal fossils and four skulls, two of which were considered "The Old Man and the teenager" (family ties). What was interesting about the findings was, one they seemed to be a hybrid between a Homo habilis and Homo erectus, and two their age! The layers of basalt and ash surrounding the fossils was 1.75 million years old. That's half a million years...

...arrivals of Homo sapiens. Today Homo sapiens are known to be the modern humans. The structure of the Homo sapiens is unique among any other Homo species, because of changes in the brain size and skull. The average cranial capacity of Homo sapiens is about 1,300 cubic centimeters making it the largest brain size from other Homo species. The modern skull has a short base and a high braincase. The Homo sapiens first appeared in Africa about 200,000 to 300,000 years ago and began to migrate all over the globe about 55,000 to 60,000 years ago. In 1967, a team led by Richard Leakey discovered Homo sapiens fossils in the Kibish Formation near the Omo River in southern Ethiopia. In the discovery researchers found bones of two early...

...Question A: Where and when did homo neanderthals live? Homo Neanderthalensis fossils were found all over Europe, and near China, and in the far south of Russia. (O’Neil) A whole skeleton of an H. Neanderthalensis hominid was found in a cave in Neander Valley near Düsseldorf, Germany. (O’Neil) The Homo Neanderthalensis species lived from about 300,000 years ago until 25,000 years ago and lived alongside Homo Sapien Sapiens for as much as 20,000 years. ...Extinction of Homo Neanderthalis: How and Why Did it Happen? One of the debates that has raged among anthropologists for over a century is the issue of Homo neanderthalis – what are the circumstances of the extinction of this species? Over time a variety of hypotheses have been posited; some have been disproven, others remain on the table of debate. Many factors contribute to the unresolved nature of the problem, ranging from limited information, contradictory evidence, and an increasingly curious mystery regarding the gradual decline of the population while temporally coexistent with Homo sapiens. An interesting observation can be made about the peculiar way in which biological anthropologists have considered the development of their own species. The old maxim that it is nearly impossible to turn an objective eye towards one’s self is especially valid, even in this context. Historically, anthropologists have seen the development of Homo sapiens as something gradual and transformative. The presence of Homo neaderthalis throws a wrench into the quaint linearity of this way of thinking. The paleoanthropological record of the Neanderthals continues up to a certain point and their presumed extinction has always been troublesome and anthropologists continue to debate as to why they became extinct. There are several ideas competing for prominence, four of which being the major considerations. The first states that they entered into resource competition with Homo sapiens and lost...

...East Africa. It has to be at least 2.3 million years in the past. Its definatly a lot colder than in the future. The air feels really dry as if there was no moisture. Looking around I see the savanna luscious with vegetation. I spot a man or what looks like a man walking towards a group of trees holding what appears to be some sort of hammer or club. I slowly approach him and start to follow him and I discover a small village of sorts. This must be where the Homo erectus lives. The adults are roughly five to six feet tall but they have narrow hips. However they’re legs were denser. They’re heads have a less spherical and more elongated shape and suggest lower mental capacity. Their weight ranges from 88 to 150 pounds. I have noticed that they also have sweat glands meaning that they are able to cool themselves down in hot weather. They were hunter-gatherers or foragers. They lived in groups and worked together to survive. The males would typically go hunt while the females would gather vegetation like fruits and nuts and would process the meats that were gathered earlier. The females would also take great care in their week and young members. This would ensure optimal survival for their species... They would live in crudely made huts out of large tree branches. Each of the branches would be stuck into the ground and surrounded by rocks to prevent them from moving. Each of these huts were roughly tent shaped... I follow a couple of the males that are going hunting...

...How did we get here? Homo Genus was the first form of human and have been around for about 2 million years. It is believed that humans started off from an ape form similar to a monkey, these apes were the first 2 legged standing apes and these are now considered the first humans. Humans are believed to be first found in warm places such as Africa and parts of Asia and Europe, around 2 million years ago. Humans around these times colonized in small places. Humans did not discover fire and cooking till about 1 million years ago. The modern human or the humans we know abou today didn't show up till around .2 million years ago or 200,000 years ago.Civilizations began to rise a lot around 8000 BCE this is around the same time the wheel was invented. The Egyptians were the first to have a major civilization. They were also the inventors of the wheel, many other inventions such as the wedge and pulley....

...In this paper I am going to talk about the first hominids. These subject attracts me a lot since they are the origin of human beings, that is, us. We may have evolved a lot over the years, but it is clear that we still share very important characteristics with the first hominids. Regarding the theory of the Big Bang, the great explosion that created matter, energy, time and space, therefore, the origin of the universe about 13,500 million years ago; or the formation of the planet Earth about 3.8 billion years ago, the 70,000 years of action of us, the Homo Sapiens, and its development can be considered a really short time. It is likely that the most immediate ancestors of contemporary primates have been a relatively unknown group of insectivores...

...“You only win if you don’t give up. ‘Cause love is war, and war is love.”

...Homo Erectus and Neanderthals. Two very different hominids. But are they really? Our ancestors were very versatile hominids they lived in different places and lived in different ways. They were all special in their own ways. They had similarities and differences that set them apart. They had similarities but the differences helped them survive in different ways. If they hadn’t adapted to how they lived in the future they would have lasted the same time that their ancestors have lived. The Neanderthals lived for an average lifespan 30 years. They had to have some mistake that decreased their lifespan. If the Homo Erectus had done the same there’s a chance that we might not be here right now. Their differences set the future that we live in today....

...but thus far the search for early hominids outside of Africa has been pursed without success. For now we may assume that these early hominids did not stray to any meaningful degree, unlike earlier apes and later hominids. (Finch, 2011) Africa is said to be the motherland of all human beings along with the hominids that were before them. Some believe that as hominids reached the homo erectus stage they begun to populate the rest of the world and formed into homo sapiens through parallel evolution. While on the other hand there is a belief that hominids stayed in Africa up until the homo sapiens stage and populated the rest of the world because they were advanced enough to do so. It is uncountable evidence to support that all human life comes from Africa. The large debate is; the belief that hominids evolved in the continent Africa until they reached the homo sapiens stage versus the belief that hominids left Africa in the homo erects stage and walk out of Africa through parallel evolution and formed into the homo sapiens stage. Evolution took place in Africa for hominids up until the homo sapiens and at that point they were intelligent and well equipped enough to begin to walk out of Africa and populate the rest of the world. (Finch, 2011). There is no doubt that the hominids that existed early in history still exist to this day, but just in a different form. As times changes hominids evolve along with other life forms. Paleoanthropologists have found skulls and other...

...Homo erectus were very successful in creating cultural technologies that allowed them to adapt to new environmental opportunities. They were true pioneers in developing human culture and in expanding their geographic range beyond Africa to populate tropical and subtropical zones elsewhere in the Old World. This territorial expansion most likely began around 1.8-1.7 million years ago, coinciding with progressively cooler global temperatures. Surprisingly, however, Homo erectus remained little changed anatomically until about 800,000 years ago. After that time, there apparently were evolutionary developments in features of the head that would become characteristic of modern humans. By half a million years ago, some Homo erectus were able to move into the seasonally cold temperate zones of Asia and Europe. This migration was made possible by greater intelligence and new cultural technologies, probably including better hunting skills and the ability to create fire. Map of the likely Ultimate Range of Homo erectus with the Lake Turkana Region of East Africa highlighted Evolutionary Relationships The earliest Homo erectus were contemporaries of the late Homo habilis in East Africa for several hundred thousand years. This suggests that the immediate ancestor of Homo erectus was an early Homo habilis or possibly another yet to be discovered species of early humans. Homo erectus was a very successful human species, lasting at least 1.5 million years, though their numbers...
