In National Jr. Honor Society there are many characteristics that are reflective of students who are in or participate in National Jr. Honor Society. These characteristics would include Scholarship, Participation & Leadership, Citizenship & Character, and Service. Out of these four characteristics I personally believe that I have exhibited at least two of these characteristics. These two characteristics are Scholarship and Service.
Scholarship, I feel is a very important characteristic to have when joining National Jr. Honor Society. “Scholarship” means to demonstrate academic success. It is important to me to have good grades because these good grades can lead to a good education which in return leads to a very good job in the future which is exactly what I want. Honor Society. “Service” means participating in community service activities or other opportunities to help others. This can include activities and other organizations for which a person has volunteered their time to help benefit other people or animals. I have shown willingness to volunteer and to help at the Freeport 5 Mile Walk and Run this spring. I gladly volunteered to help with traffic so that the people who are not participating in it are not in harm's way when a car came driving by. This felt important to me to help my community and my people. Another service that I do for my community is shovel sidewalks during the winter. However I did not accept payment when doing this task. This has benefited my many people in my community who are elderly because I shoveled the their sidewalk since they can not do the task themselves and when they tried to pay me I did not accept any of their money this showed how willing I am to help others. Shoveling has also benefited my community because I would shovel our church’s sidewalk, with no charge, so that handicap and others can get inside the church

...I am very thankful for honor of being considered for acceptance into the National Honor Society. This program is unlike any others we have at West Warwick High School since it strictly accepts students with above average grades, addition to the qualities of character such as leadership and community involvement. At the current time, I am a sophomore here at West Warwick High School, dedicating the majority of my time to school and sports, but using what little time is left for maintaining an active position in the community. I am applying to this program because it is a great opportunity to volunteer in the West Warwick community with other students. Furthermore, the program shapes students to become better individuals, though they already...

...I can to help guide them through it step by step. My grades are my top priority at school because when it comes down to it that is what I will be judged on, not to mention my character. Character is everything. As stated in the dictionary, it is said that character is a “complex of mental and ethical traits“, that those traits, or qualities, are “distinctive to an individual” and that they are “built into an individual’s life.” It is those character qualities, those character traits that determine a person’s response in any given situation. I set goals and put in the time and effort to accomplish them. I believe that NHS does great things overall, and that I can play a part in furthering the impression that is made here. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and commendable characters and I believe that I have both. In conclusion, I hope to be able to use my power to aid in the uplifting of others and prove myself to be a good example and mentor for those who seek help. As I participate in activities where I am the leader, such as a teacher aid, I make sure that I work with my peers and...

National Honor Society Essay Examples

...I am deeply honored to be among the small group of students who are eligible for the National Honor Society. This is something that I have been looking forward to since my Freshman year. Being in all of the clubs and extracurricular activities, I have heard about this organization since I first walked into Waukesha North. Another stronger reinforcer was seeing my sister walk across the stage and seeing how honored she was, made me even more eager to be apart of this prestigious society. I strongly believe that this organization does great things in society, and that I can play a part in furthering its com. I would love to receive this honor because I have worked incredibly hard to get to this point in school and life in general. The National Honor Society is known for recognizing students with outstanding grades and characters, I believe that I have both. Currently, I have a 4.1 cumulative GPA. I have achieved the grades by taking challenging classes and having a lot of GRIT. GRIT is a trait based on an individual's passion for a particular long-term goal, along with a powerful motivation to achieve their respective objective. GRIT is not able to be taught; it is a biological trait that a person gets from their parents, and I believe that I have a lot of it. As for character, I believe that I demonstrate...

...community, done without compensation and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit. Community service is a very important factor when it comes to bettering your society. Through my own experiences and my years in the National Honor Society I have observed and come to support my beliefs of how important Service is. What I have learned about my community is, to give back to those who give or simply just to do something nice for someone else without being told/paid to do. Community service to me is what I would do to help my peers and community enjoy themselves at the cost of making them as well as my self, feel good that someone went out of their way to make their experience(s) fun and enjoyable. I am pleased to say everyone in this room carries the willingness to make a better community. I have gotten to know a better me in how I act towards different people and what I say to them. To me I think this shows an incredible charisma in how a person can change and make a difference so quickly The value and importance of community service in our society shows greatness within the National Honor Society. Without community service in our society many people would not know the meaning, usefulness, or importance of charity. Serving in your community takes away from the problems that exist in your society and in the world as a...

...The National Honor Society, in my opinion, is a great honor nonetheless. Simply having the pleasure of applying with the hope of being able to join is a huge honor. The NHS is something students hear about but don’t quite understand. Most students join simply because their friends are doing it, and don’t want to be left behind, but not me. I have never believed I was meant to be a part of something as much as I am sure I belong in the NHS. The National Honor Society exists in order to separate the kids who are ahead of the rest in their class. Not only is the NHS in place to acknowledge those in front, but also to push those who have the potential make it. In my eyes, the NHS is an extremely prestigious organization that would help me promote...

I sleep no more than six hours a night because of my desire to expertly meet my many commitments. Throughout my life, I have worked as long and as hard as I possibly can to effect beneficial changes in both school and society. During the summer of tenth grade, I took a number theory course at Johns Hopkins University with students from Alaska, California, and Bogota, Colombia. Similarly, during the summer following eleventh grade, I was one of ninety students from New Jersey selected to attend the Governor's School in the Sciences at Drew University. At Drew, I took courses in molecular orbital theory, special relativity, cognitive psychology, and I participated in an astrophysics research project. For my independent research project, I used a telescope to find the angular velocity of Pluto. With the angular velocity determined, I used Einstein's field equations and Kepler's laws to place an upper bound on the magnitude of the cosmological constant, which describes the curvature of space and the rate of the universe's expansion. Beowulf

...courageous and respectable qualities depict the Anglo-Saxon’s view of a hero during that time. In addition, the respect the characters show for their kings illustrate the high esteem in which the Anglo-Saxons held their kings. These examples also show the importance of gaining honor in this culture. The characteristics of Beowulf, the respect held for their kings, and the importance of honor provide a glimpse into the Anglo-Saxon society. One of Beowulf’s characteristics that are shown early on in the poem is his strength. When he arrives in the land of Dane, he is described as having “the strength of thirty in his mighty hand-grip.”1 Beowulf’s first challenge is to rid the land of the monster Grendel. He decides to make it more than just a simple task of slaying the monster when he declares that it will be a hand-to-hand fight. I have heard it said this evil monster in his wild recklessness scorns all weapons. I therefore decline, that Hygelac my lord may be pleased to the heart, to take any sword or broad-braced shield, yellow war-wood, into this combat, but with my own hand-grip I will meet this enemy and fight for life, foe against foe.2 This statement gives multiple insights into Anglo-Saxon society. First, it shows the importance of not only strength but of skill as well. Beowulf must be incredibly strong if he feels that he can defeat the monster with his bare hands. He must also be skilled to have the knowledge to be able to fight with weapons...

Stereotypes In Macbeth

...most parts of the world girls lose something because of society. After that, they are no longer able to feel confident or feel that part that they lost. This quote was incredibly powerful and proves that society has always made men more powerful even from the beginning. Also this metaphor has to do with flying. These boys get to fly while these girls must stay stuck on the ground. This means that women are limited and can only do few things while men have the ability to “fly” and become a doctor or a businessman and these women become nurses and receptionists which is always lower. This quote belongs in this essay about men because these men that have the wings must live up to their word and have to learn how to fly and be excellent at flying. The men in Macbeth had to live up to their word and avenge their families, , avenge father. These men have to also, be a good king ad Also some women explain this in this story to just state what a man must act and be like. Some women believe that they should stay with their family and be loyal, while others believe that they must keep their word and stay loyal....
