...Jordan English Language September 15, 2015 The fiery red velvet flames came bursting in full effect all of a sudden catching each person off guard. The dark cloudy sky raced into the city showing no mercy, leaving each person clueless, stranded with no where to run. Had we known this fire was coming our way, we would’ve made other plans. July 8, 2013 was the day my family lost one of our prized possessions. We were on our way to the movies, eager awaiting for the time to arrive. As we drove to the movies it became hot, hotter and extremely hot. Even with the air conditioning on there was a massive heat wave spreading in the air, as the sweat drained down each of our faces. We finally entered the movie theatre and shouted, “Hooray” and started jumping up and down, simultaneously hitting our hands against each other. My family consisting of 4 members tried to enjoy the movie, but found it difficult because of the oppressive heat in the miniature room. When the movie finished, we raced outside to catch some fresh air, but we were surprised by the fiery red flames in the cloudy jet black sky. We had no idea what to do but run to our vehicle. There was one huge problem the fire blasted into flames by the parking lot. We all panicked and followed the crowd. They then led us towards the mall’s entrance. We stood there until the massive fire had been extinguished. In conclusion, this was the first fire experience my family and I experienced. It gave us quite a scare...

...It is always a constant battle between whether designer babies are ethically and morally correct or wrong. Another argument against designer babies is that they would it would lead to an uncontrollable imbalance between the rich and the poor. Ronald Bailey describes the cost of advanced reproductive technologies in an article he titled “Hooray for Designer Babies.” According to Bailey, IVF will run a couple about $7,500 due to the medical and lab staff needed to perform the procedure. Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis will cost an additional $2,500 (Bailey par. 4). To most that is an extremely large amount of money and to others it is pocket change lying around. There is a possibility that the rich will get richer, and the poor will continue to get poorer. As of now, it is not possible to genetically enhance physical or physiological traits, but in the future it may be possible. Parents, in the future, may be able to designate the intelligence, athletic ability, musical talent, and even personality type of their children. The parents who are wealthy and fortunate enough to be...

...Let’s skip ahead to when you finally finish school. Hooray! Now it’s time to get a job. This chapter is all about helping you get your dream job. There is no way for me to see all your skills and experiences just by looking at you. Sure I could google your name, search for your facebook profile, or call around to ask about you, but that would take up far too much time (and time is money to your possible employer). If you told me everything about yourself, I would only remember a quarter of it (and probably not the quarter that would get you the job). You need to put it all together on a very special piece of paper called a Resume. There are many ways to design your resume, but to get that dream job, you should follow some simple rules. 1. No matter how much you want to say, it must all fit on one page two sided and cannot be crowded. Extra pages will get lost. 2. Have your name in a large font at the top of the first page so there is no mistake about whose resume this is. 3. Include your contact information right after your name. Be sure to get the correct information here. You don’t want them to call someone else with a job offer. 4. It is a good idea to have a goal or purpose that describes what you want from this job. For example, you might be after summer time work or looking for a career to last you a life time. 5. Include a list of your skills. This is no time to be modest. 6. Next you will describe your educational background. This includes any certificates...

...Andrew Jackson was elected by popular vote, as president, he sought to act as a beacon for the common man. On the day of his inaugural speech more than fifteen thousand people were cheering for Andrew Jackson, his words were “I will not fail you” when he said this an uproar of hoorays arose out of that cold winter. Andrew Jackson’s presidency was also very controversial; this was because of a certain act known as The Indian Removal Act of 1830 not only did this violate a whole bunch of treaties with the Native American tribes, Andrew Jackson thought that Natives would not be able to coexist with American people and so he received yeses from both the House and Senate. Therefore during the next few months all Natives, including a rebellious...

...Jury Trial Analysis Alex G Neville CJA/364 11/30/2014 Jonathan Sperling Jury Trial Analysis The process of the courtroom trial serves as the backbone of the criminal justice system. With its various processes and integral steps to ensure that justice is carried out and the truth is finally founded in an open courtroom. It is also pivotal to the maintenance of the order and structure of not only the criminal justice system, but society itself. Opening Statements Opening statements are an introductory statement made by attorneys for each side at the start of a trial. The statement while not mandatory is seldom waived, due to its invaluable opportunity to provide an overview of the case to the jury and to explain the anticipated proof that will be presented during the trial. It is also an excellent opportunity to also gain a foothold within the jury to either establish the defendant’s guilt or innocence, or to establish reasonable doubt within the minds of the jury. Presentation of the Case Witness Examination is the process the immediately follows the opening statement. The prosecutor begins examination of their witnesses. This is the prosecutor’s, initial step in attempting to prove its case. The amount of time during this process varies greatly. During this the prosecution can introduce evidence from the crime scene. Following the prosecutions examination of its witnesses, the defense has the opportunity to cross examine or question the same witness. The...

...revolver, blearily; - Didn't appear to know a war was on, Or see the blasted trench at which he stared. "I'll do 'em in," he whined, "If this hand's spared, I'll murder them, I will." A low voice said, "It's Blighty, p'raps, he sees; his pluck's all gone, Dreaming of all the valiant, that AREN'T dead: Bold uncles, smiling ministerially; Maybe his brave young wife, getting her fun In some new home, improved materially. It's not these stiffs have crazed him; nor the Hun." We sent him down at last, out of the way. Unwounded; - stout lad, too, before that strafe. Malingering? Stretcher-bearers winked, "Not half!" Next day I heard the Doc.'s well-whiskied laugh: "That scum you sent last night soon died. Hooray!" The Send-off Down the close, darkening lanes they sang their way To the siding-shed, And lined the train with faces grimly gay. Their breasts were stuck all white with wreath and spray As men's are, dead. Dull porters watched them, and a casual tramp Stood staring hard, Sorry to miss them from the upland camp. Then, unmoved, signals nodded, and a lamp Winked to the guard. So secretly, like wrongs hushed-up, they went. They were not ours: We never heard to which front these were sent. Nor there if they yet mock what women meant Who gave them flowers. Shall they return to beatings of great bells In wild trainloads? A few, a few, too few for drums and yells, May creep back, silent, to still village wells Up half-known...

...Good for your ears, the purpose of life Good Ear (The Organ columnist) Did you hear something? Maybe the sound you heard was a humming bird singing a tune. Or maybe it was loud, like a drummer banging to the beat. The magnificent sounds of life are wonderful at least for now. I can hear everything around me since my name is Mr. Good Ears. With all of this being said, I am outraged by the way you young rock stars take me for granted. Just because I am small in size and appear to sit around all day doing nothing doesn’t mean I have no purpose in life. You see, for the last 14 years, I have been on your left and right side of your face. Every day of my life that I can remember, I’ve had to sit through all the physical and verbal abuse that you jerk like to call music. I just want to tell you that as an ear; I do have many purposes in life. In case you guys don’t know, sounds are everywhere, and you jerks have two cool parts on your body that let you hear them all: me, your ears? I am made up of three different parts: the outer ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear. I am in charge of collecting sounds, processing them, and even sending the sound waves to my neighbor your brain. My outer ear called the pinna is the part of me that people can see. It’s the part that you rock stars use to put holes in me. Another words, it’s what people pierce to wear earrings and what your friend whispers into when it’s time for a secret. Eyeglasses also...

...Case #186 Beep! Beep! Ah a new text from the headquarters. Hooray! I am getting transferred to Las Vegas. By the way I’m Jacky Serov, oh Inspector Jacky Serov. I’m a cop in Los Angles, and I’m getting promoted to Las Vegas as an assistant commissioner. We finally landed in McCarran international airport. Soon we left for the headquarters. I rushed to the commissioner’s room and stopped. I sighed and went in. Hmm, he looked strict. His name was Commissioner Vince McMahon. I saluted him and sat. “Welcome aboard officer” he said. Then took a minute and said “186”. Excuse me sir I said. “Your room number, 186” he replied. Here we go to room number 186. I went in and sat right on my chair. I wandered and looked around for a second. Then took the cases file and studied it for some time. I was about to close the file when I noticed Case #186, I opened it and it wasn’t complete. I picked up the telephone and called an officer. After a minute he came in and said “Yes sir”. I told him about the file, and he told me the whole story. The case was about a robbery in a jewelry store owned by Mr. Crabs Smiler. The suspect was James Leone, son of Mr. Leone, a famous business tycoon. James was drunk that night after he stole some wine, from the local liquor store owed by Mr. Sammy Sterell. Then I told him to get all the files of the case, and after he got them I went to the commissioner. Without knocking, I went right in. He gave me a very disgusting look. Then I quietly sat, then said...

...once I am back home. Hello Everybody, today I am going to talk about the topic, If I knew I couldn’t fail, what would I do .I would like to tell you all a story of two small boys like me. In a far away land there were two friends, boys of age 10 and 7. They played amongst themselves and on a bright spring day, they start flying their kites and wander off a little far away from their home. The boys in their excitement didn’t see an open hole or well with water. The 10 year old boys slips in to it. Now the 7 year old boy screams for help but no one there. He sees a bucket with a rope and instantly drops it in and the older boy holds on to it, this fragile younger boy, pulls it and pulls it and after sometime his friend crawls back. Hooray, both of them run back to their homes. The parents listen to their stories and feel they are making it up, how can a small 7 year old boy pull out a 10 year old boy ? But only one man believes them, so the friends are happy. The younger boys father is little angry that one of the neighbours is believing this story and asks him how is it possible. The neighbor replies, “Well no one told the boy that he will fail. He never had the thought “What if I fail”, all that young boy knew and wanted was to bring his friend back to safety” So friends, we have to decide whether we are going to be afraid of failure and use it as an excuse for not doing something or we are going to go all out and do it. The students of Georgia from third grade have...

She had prepared a very long message for her. 15 THINGS I LOVE AND HATE ABOUT YOU AT THE SAME TIME is the starter of her message. And she began typing and while she did so, she can’t help but smile. A sweet smile if it’s possible knowing such gesture in the lips is sweet. Is it because I’m too weak to defend myself? I know you could help me all the time and with that, thank you. I love you for being there with me when I cried at my special day because someone at school bullied me. Thank you for making my day blissful in the end. Though, I hate you that time too for I thought you won’t be there for me, well maybe I’m wrong, I’ve always been anyway about you. I love you for always creating such wonderful memories I’ll sure treasure in the future. Though I hate you for being mean to me sometimes and sometimes ignoring me for your other peers but I understand. Anyway, I have an assured spot in your heart right?
