With the team’s star player not returning, there are many opinions and suggestions being made as to how the Hickory Huskers should be coached. George Walker, who is the obvious leader of the concerned townspeople, decides that he will step in and become the assistant coach. After an unsuccessful first part of the season, there is a community wide petition being passed around with a referendum to remove him as coach. At this meeting it was almost certain that the coach would be fired until Jimmy showed up.
