Buying a hot tub is a major investment, and you need to maintain that investment carefully. A hot tub that is properly maintained and well-cared for can provide many years of trouble-free service, but a neglected hot tub could fail in just a few years.
Hot tub repairs can be rather expensive, but you can avoid many of those costs with a simple maintenance routine. Checking the water chemistry in your hot tub once a month and every time you add water is perhaps the best way to ensure trouble-free operation. Here are some additional maintenance tips to keep your hot tub running like new.
Check the pH at least once a month. Low pH can cause a number of problems for hot tub owners, including costly issues like heater failure. Allowing the pH …show more content…
If the pump seal fails in your hot tub, the most obvious sign will be a small puddle of water around the equipment area. If you notice this early warning sign, you need to contact your hot tub dealer for professional service.
Remove accumulated dirt with a mild non-abrasive cleaner. Use a cleanser that does not produce suds and a nylon scrubber to gently remove the dirt. You can clean small stains with baking soda.
To clean the hot tub cover, carefully remove it and spray the entire thing with a garden hose. Mix a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and two gallons of water and scrub the cover with a circular motion.
Check the cover frequently for signs of damage. Normal wear and tear is nothing to worry about, but the cover should be replaced if there are large tears or holes.
Recheck the water chemistry every time you fill up your hot tub. Some evaporation is normal, and adding water is a part of hot tub maintenance. Adding water without addressing water chemistry could throw off the balance in the hot tub and cause components to degrade and corrode.
Remove snow and ice promptly from the hot tub cover. Use warm water from the hot tub to melt ice that accumulates along the cover and around the

...Hot tubs enhance many homes across America, yet some people remain hesitant to purchase a unit of this type. They recognize a hot tub can be a great way to relax after a hard day at work and spend quality time with friends and family. Others understand these devices can be of great help in reducing pain and discomfort, and some find they sleep better after a session in a hot tub. Many homeowners opt for a stationary hot tub, one that may be set up and left in place permanently. One option to consider, however, is a plug and play unit. Many of these units can now be moved from location to location, depending on the size and water capacity. They tend to be smaller than their stationary counterparts and, again depending on the size and water...

Autism

...THE AUTISM EPIDEMIC By ENGL 135 December 9, 2008 The Autism Epidemic For many adults one of the happiest days of their lives is when they see their children being born. Sometime between the two and four age some parents begin to realize that their child’s behavior is a bit abnormal. At first they chalk it up to just children being children and ignore what is happening with their behavior. It gets to a point and the parents realize that they should go see the child’s pediatrician concerning the abnormal behavior. The doctor runs tests and comes back with a scary diagnosis: Autism. Autism, a lifelong disorder, is defined as a behavioral and neurological disorder affecting physical, language, and social skills1. Autism is a common condition among children that begins within the first two and a half years of life, although it may not be evident until three or four years of age. Autism is a mental behavior that causes children to experience the world differently than normal kids. Autism impairs behavioral skills and development from early on and into adulthood. Children with autism almost always learn at a slower rate, have a lower rate of communication skills, and often times have repetitive types of behavior such as body rocking, clicking a pen for hours at a time, or turning the TV on and off again. Adults with autism continue to have difficulties interacting with society, show some socially inappropriate behavior, and show peculiar use of language such as repetitive...

Sexually Transmitted Diseases

...Sexually transmitted diseases For my research paper I decided to write on sexually transmitted diseases because it seems that we are hearing more and more about them. They are becoming more of a problem in the United States and it is fair to say that they are not going to go a way for a long time, if even at all. Sexually transmitted diseases can change a person’s life and even kill them. If a person wants to be sexually active they must understand the risks that are involved and how they can protect themselves. The first sexually transmitted disease that I want to talk about is chlamydia. Chlamydia, first of all, is a bacteria. The chance of being infected with chlamydia is very high among teenagers and young adults due to sexual activity. Chlamydia is transmitted through sexual contact, mainly vaginal or anal. It also has to be transmitted by someone that has been infected. Many people that have chlamydia do not even know they are infected, because they do not show any symptoms. To be exact, according to Engender Health, “there are about 75% of infected women and half of infected men have no symptoms of chlamydia.” The risk of a person becoming infected is very high if the person is engaging in unsafe sex, having sex with more than one partner, and being in a sexual relationship with someone who has multiple sex partners. To protect yourself and reduce your risk one should use condoms during sex, and limit your number of sex partners. (Engender Health) The symptoms...

Concession

...Welcome to the Concession Trailer Business Course. Here in this course you will find all the information you will ever need to know about food concession trailers and the concession business. I have broken down the relevant information into easy to read steps to help you get setup and into the business of making money with your very own concession trailer, espresso stand or coffee trailer. Keep in mind when I mention concession trailer that the concession stand also falls into this category. The difference is the concession trailer is mobile and can be moved from place to place to do shows, fairs, festivals, races, or just anywhere a gathering of people might be. The concession stand is set up just like the trailer except it is usually permanent. You will usually find concession stands set up in a busy park or in a parking lot in front of shopping malls or department stores. Whichever style your interested in both have their good qualities and maybe a couple not so good. But don’t worry about the downside if you are really serious about the concession business then the good will over come the bad. Another thing I want to add is don’t ever get in a rush. This process will take time and if it’s rushed you will not succeed. When planning to buy or build a food concession trailer think of it as an investment and like buying a home for you and your family. You don’t go out looking for a house one morning and buy the next do you? Neither should you with a food concession trailer...

...balances available on gift cards. Regulations also dictate whether expiration dates can be applied. In most cases this regulation is free of any requirements on the merchant regarding the management of the cash in the time between the purchase of the gift card and its redemption. As such, merchants are free to choose a business policy that fits with their business objectives. In some cases gift cards are partially redeemed by a consumer. The industry refers to this as breakage (Horne, 2007) and some estimates put it at around 10 percent. This data suggests that for every $100 gift card, the merchant gets to keep $10 of that money without providing goods or services in return. While this is appealing, it’s only part of the story. Further research has shown that consumer spending habits and even venue choice are affected in ways that benefit the merchant. For example, processor data indicates that consumers spend around $1.40 per $1.00 of the face...

...acid salts and normal salts POINTS TO NOTE f Non-metals form acidic oxides, while metals form basic oxides. f Amphoteric oxides show both basic and acidic properties, while neutral oxides show neither. f Non-metallic oxides dissolve in water to form acids. f Metallic oxides are basic oxides and dissolve in water to form alkalis. f Acids combine with bases to form salt and water only. f Salts can be formed from the reaction of acids with carbonates, hydrogen-carbonates, alkalis and metals. f The pH of a substance indicates how acidic or basic (alkaline) its aqueous solution is. The pH scale goes from 0 - 14 with a pH less than 7 described as acidic and a pH greater than 7 described as basic or alkaline. One can use pH paper (litmus) or indicator solutions, such as methyl orange and phenolphthalein, to determine whether substances are alkaline or acidic. f Strong acids and weak acids differ in the number of molecules that react or dissociate to form ions. For a strong acid, a vast majority of the molecules form ions, while only a small proportion of ions are formed from a weak acid. f Dibasic and tribasic acids can form both normal and acid salts. f Soluble salts can be prepared from the action of an acid on a metal,...

Food Packaging & Envrronmental Effect

...consumption. However, packaging technology must balance food protection with other issues, including energy and material costs, heightened social and environmental consciousness, and strict regulations on pollutants and disposal of municipal solid waste. Municipal solid waste (MSW) consists of items commonly thrown away, including packages, food scraps, yard trimmings, and durable items such as refrigerators and computers. Legislative and regulatory efforts to control packaging are based on the mistaken perception that packaging is the major burden of MSW. Instead, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that approximately only 31% of the MSW generated in 2005 was from packaging-related materials, including glass, metal, plastic, paper, and paperboard—a percentage that has remained relatively constant since the 1990s despite an increase in the total amount of MSW. Nonpackaging sources such as newsprint, telephone books, and office communication generate more than twice as much MSW (EPA 2006a). Food is the only product class typically consumed 3 times per day by every person. Consequently, food packaging accounts for almost two-thirds of total packaging waste by volume...
