...to everyone that China has a major role in the global economy since its economic growth has moves the country into the ranks of middle income countries. Unfortunately, issues that China faced in most recently are whether it can contribute to the vigour of the worldwide economy and manage its internal stability. China's economy is now weakening and its GDP is perhaps below the government target of 7%. Investment sentiment is the weakest indicator, while the production level in China's industries has dropped which left surplus production capacity in the industries. Although China growth is slowing down, the probability that it will collapse suddenly is small. 2.0 Discussion The biggest problem in China is that the massive debt explosion is now threatening its entire economy, leading to a reduction in capital investment. There has been a boom in the Chinese stock market, yet buying share with borrowed money had magnified the fall when companies with huge debt begin to sell their investments to pay debts (Walker, 2015). Shanghai Composite Index decreased about 8.5% in August followed by China economy downturn which perhaps was the biggest decrease since 2007 (McHugh, 2015). Overreaction in Chinese market then affect the world such as Japan's Nikkei index had slipped by 4.6%, while the Eurofirst 300 index has had its worst day since 2009 (Matthews, 2015). However, falling of stock markets in itself will not cumber the global economy down. Allen (2015) reported that, individual whose...

Play Fair The core values of Mattel, the world’s largest, branded toy manufacturer, appeared on its company website, and on its literature, under the heading ‘Play Fair’: “Act with unwavering integrity on all occasions. Treat each other with respect and dignity. Trust each other to make the right decisions. Be accountable for all that passes in front of us.” In 2007 these values would be put to the test as never before, when it was discovered that substantial numbers of Mattel branded toys had been contaminated with lead paint with global signature brands such as Barbie™ and Fisher Price™ affected. This followed hard on the heels of a much larger recall of toys containing small magnets, when it was discovered that a serious health hazard was posed to children if the magnets became loose. In fact, more than 19 million toys were to be recalled by Mattel worldwide, including a warning issued on 4th September 2007 covering 675,000...

Dear Student: Reproduction of copyrighted material, without prior permission of the copyright owner, particularly in an educational setting, is an issue of concern for the academic community. Unfortunately, the impropriety of much unauthorized copying is all too often overlooked by users in an educational setting. Although copying all or part of a work without obtaining permission may appear to be an easy and convenient solution to an immediate problem, such unauthorized copying can frequently violate the rights of the author or publisher of the copyrighted work, and be directly contrary to the academic mission to teach respect for ideas and the intellectual property that expresses those ideas. ...International-North America; M.A. in International Relations from University of Chicago; International Trade and Transportation specialist, Hunton & Williams (Greg, “Why we should invest today in 'Airports Inc.'”. March. http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/labor/218525-faa-why-we-should-invest-today-in-airports-inc) With the latest Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) forecast predicting a doubling of passengers and cargo by 2030, the current funding system is not up to the job of ensuring airports will have the infrastructure they need to handle such dramatic increases in traffic. This will have far-reaching consequences. Commercial airports are powerful economic engines, generating 10.5 million jobs and $1.2 trillion for the U.S. economy, according to a new Airports Council International-North America study. Across the country, workers and businesses count on local airports to attract investment and move people and goods around the world. Since 2001, the total number of jobs associated with airports has increased by more than 50 percent. Despite unprecedented growth and clear evidence of the economic benefits of infrastructure investments, airports expect to have $80 billion in unmet needs through 2015 because of the flawed system used to pay for infrastructure projects. That has not always been the case. Airports generated millions of jobs and trillions of dollars for local communities between 2001 and 2010 because President Bill Clinton and Congress made two decisions...

...The Evolution of FinTech: A New Post-Crisis Paradigm? Douglas W. Arner* Jànos Barberis** Ross P. Buckley*** Abstract: “Financial technology” or “FinTech” refers to technology enabled financial solutions. FinTech is often seen today as the new marriage of financial services and information technology. However, the interlinkage of finance and technology has a long history and has evolved over three distinct eras. FinTech 1.0, from 1866 to 1987, was the first period of financial globalization supported by technological infrastructure such as transatlantic transmission cables. This was followed by FinTech 2.0, from 1987-2008, during which financial services firms increasingly digitized their processes. Since 2008 a new era of FinTech has emerged in both the developed and developing world. This era is defined not by the financial products or services delivered but by who delivers them. This latest evolution of FinTech, led by start-ups, poses challenges for regulators and market participants alike, particularly in balancing the potential benefits of innovation with the possible risks of new approaches. * Professor, Co-Director, Duke-HKU Asia America Institute in Transnational Law, and Member, Board of Management, Asian Institute of International Financial Law, Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong. ** Senior Research Fellow, Asian Institute of International Financial Law, Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong; and Founder, FinTech HK. *** CIFR King...
