How Did Chief Joseph Decided To Fight The American Army

QUESTION 6 & 7: Chief Joseph had decided to fight the American army because he had to defend his young warriors or he knew that the American army was looking for pay back. General Howard gave orders to bring the chief and young warriors in. Their attempt at a sneak attack of Chief Joseph was unsuccessful in which the American army lost more than a third of their army while the Nez Perce had lost only a few. Chief Joseph had only wanted freedom for his people and to cultivate and hunt on the land that they owned. The reservations were no more than a prisoner camp. The American Indians were not allowed to travel from place to place, but only confined to the reservation. They needed permission from the federal government to leave and move …show more content…
Joseph only had one choice, and that was to get to Canada and live free like other Native Americans have done before him. There was no need for them to give up because they had won all of the battles; they were out maneuvering the American army as they constantly fled to closer to the Canadian border. There was no need to depend on the Crows or any other Native American because they had won these battles against the American army without them. They had faced no defeats in combat regardless of the size of the battle, and they were moving closer to the land of freedom in Canada. The casualties of the Nez Perce were hardly of any, so they did not really feel or see the impact of the war on them. Even when they were attacked at Big Hole, they fought off the American army and started on the pathway north again. They were only tired from running and trying to get to Canada. The loss of life suffered by the Nez Perce was not equal to the death totals of the American army. If the causalities were switch between the two of them, there the cost of life to the Nez Perce would have been too valuable and surrender would be the only choice to avoid the additional

That bomb had more power than 20,000 tons of TNT. It had more than two thousand times the blast power of the British "Grand Slam" which is the largest bomb ever yet used in the history of warfare.” This was vocalized by President Harry Truman in his famous speech where he declared the bombing on mainland Japan and, educated the American people of the capabilities their military had. Developed by a group of American scientists, atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6th and 10th 1945 respectively. These are the only two times that these bombs have ever been used to inflict damage on other countries but, physicists estimate that both bombs only used about 1/10th of 1% of their total capacity. From a moral standpoint, dropping the atomic bomb was the right thing to do because it ended up preventing millions of people from being killed by military warfare.
