The laws of Lycurgus made a huge influence on Sparta’s political, social, and economic aspects which lead to its successful militaristic and healthy society. Lycurgus helped to establish harmony and strength in Sparta by implementing laws for all citizens to live by. For example, Lycurgus outlawed gold and silver as currency and reinforced iron dipped in vinegar to be used as money. Iron money had less value elsewhere in Greece which brought the rich and the poor on equal terms. Lycurgus focused primarily on altering the Spartan society so that it differed from other regions in Greece.
