How Did Puritans Gain Religious Freedom In The 1700s

Prior to the 1700’s, freedom was accepted to a certain extents, the colonies were diverse in their choice on whether to be lenient or strict about religious freedom in the new world. Religious freedom in the New England colonies was at a minimum; little to no freedom. People from New England were barely accepted. Puritans, Quakers, and other leaders created reforms for religious freedom in New England. Puritans did not agree to the way the church in England was ran so they set up their own way of government and only the puritans could be freemen. Believers and non-believers of God had to pay taxes on the church and follow God’s law. In the New England colonies no other religion except Puritanism was accepted. If you were not a Puritan you
