Welles R. Crowther had a lot of survival skills in his life that he had learned. He was a fireman before he went and worked at the Sandler O'Neill Firm in the World Trade Center. On a fatal day two planes had stuck the towers. One hit each tower and many lives were lost on September 11th, 2001. Welles saved many and did the best he could to save more before he met his demise when the tower fell.Welles spent most of his life training to help people whether he was cleaning the fire engines or on a scene. He did his best for everything he was a straightforward man. He did as much as he could. “"It was a young man," She remembered a decade later. "Not very husky. Very short hair." She remembered that he was white, wearing a white T-shirt, and appeared to be uninjured.…show more content… She had remembered that he came up and brought them down, and then went back up to save more. He did as much as he could to save as many people as he could. He was calm and collective doing anything that was needed during the attack to save others. “Welles was known to keep a bandana on him all the time and it was Red. He had the bandanna cause of his father, His fathers was blue and Welles was red.” ( Isn’t a quote from the book but they did mention this in the book.) People knew him from the red bandana that he was wearing over his face. He had always kept it with him no matter what because of his father. His father was also a firefighter and also taught Welles a lot."Whenever Welles was asked about his future, he had an immediate and confident answer: he would be a fireman." Welles worked as hard as he could to do a lot of the things in life he wanted to do. He was well trained over the years aspiring to be like his father. He was a hero to him and Welles wanted to be a hero for other no matter what the cost during 9/11.
