...How do you think the U.S. schools can be improved? Schools should focus on the bottom of the hierarchy of the student needs, such as food and shelter. Schools should provide reduced cost or free breakfast and lunch to all students. We cannot change their home lives, but we know that learning on a satisfied belly takes better than learning over the growls of an aching tummy. School should eliminate social promotion. This would help for two reasons. First, we live in a capitalist society where work is only engaged in when there is a clear end reward such as a paycheck. Even at a young age, kids can understand that to. To get what they want they need to do the work that the parent gives them to do. Second, social promotion is the reason kids come unprepared into subsequent classrooms. This is obvious. We can blame ineffective teaching, or a numerous of other issues, but if they did not get the skills or content they needed, they ought to be given the opportunity to try again. School should reduce the teacher workloads at all levels. In elementary this would mean smaller class sizes and more collaboration time where kids are with PE, music, and art specialists. Many schools are cutting out most of the academic time for the children, which make teaching less interesting to most children. We need our schools to find what is exceptional in each child, teaching each that these strengths can be used to create meaningful lives for themselves. We need to improve education with a focus...

...How effectively do you think Rachel spent her day? In my opinion, how she spent her day is quite effectively. Because she has a mixture of relax and hard-work modes. She can also manage her project on schedule and has a very good social relation by help other project that is behind schedule to be back on track. She has very good planning both in the morning and evening. However, if the communication breakdown was not occurring and no weekly status meeting, she will use only 20 minute to listen to their team members in one day. I think this is less than it should be. Actually, the discussion between manager and group member is significant in order to keep project on track and build up their relationship. When the communication breakdown occurred, Rachel was not fear to face with the problem but on the other hand she shows her investigation skill by she immediate indentify the root causes of the problem by discuss with another department where the problem occurred. Also, after finish defining root cause she shows her good coordination skill by directly report to her boss and give her team know what is happening and reviewing the impact that could have on this project. Nevertheless, her project can follow schedule when she only met team member 20 minutes a day. This is maybe because of her ability to control / manage people. What does the case tell you about what it is like to be a project manager? Project manager is not like other managers because they have to deal with...

...GCSE Science How to answer extended writing (6 mark) questions The new GCSEs in Science have slightly different style exam papers to the old courses. One of the big differences is that the new papers have questions worth 6 marks. These questions will ask you to write longer answers than you might be used to. So, in this guide, we'll try and show you some ways to cope with these new questions. We'll look at some examples of questions ‐ and some answers to them ‐ so that you can get used to the sorts of questions that may come up. You’ll also see some examples of how other students have come up with answers to them. Probably the most important piece of advice to give you at the start of this guide is ‐ DON'T PANIC! OK, some of these new questions might look a bit scary ‐ there's more reading than most other questions and a much bigger space for you to write your answer. But, look on the bright side. The bit of reading before the question may contain some information that can actually help you answer the question. And the answer space has to be big because some people have really big writing – and other people will write whatever comes into their heads! Remember that you don't need to fill all that space – even writing one or two sentences can provide enough information to start scoring marks. Know your enemy Where will these 6‐mark questions appear? All of Edexcel’s exam papers have the same format...

...only one that knows what most things are and what to do. Piggy seems like the only one with common sense. Piggy says, “ an’ this is an island. Nobody don’t know we’re here. Your dad don’t know, nobody don’t know−” (14) Piggy is the only one that thinks no one knows the kids are on the island. This shows Piggy is very clever because he is using common sense and proving his point. Piggy also knows what the shell they find is, and shows common sense towards it, “−a conch; ever so expensive. I bet if you wanted to buy one you’d have to pay pounds and pounds and pounds− he had it on his garden wall, and my auntie−” (16) This quote shows that Piggy knows what the conch is. Therefore, he is characterized as smart. During this same scene, Piggy tells Roger what to use the conch for, "We can use this to call the others. Have a meeting. They’ll come when they hear us—" (16) this quote tells us that Piggy appears very intelligent because he knows how to use the conch. He knows that the conch is loud enough for everyone on the island to hear it and come together. Piggy is also characterized as very sensitive. He gets bullied a lot and ganged up on by the people on the island. This is why Piggy gets very easily offended by people. The one person that is especially mean to Piggy is Ralph. Piggy gets very frustrated with Ralph, “About being called Piggy. I said I didn’t care as long as they didn’t call me Piggy; an’ I said not to tell and you went an’ said straight out−,” (25) Ralph tells everyone...

...“Do you think that business practices in an Islamic country are likely to differ from business practices in the United States? If so, how?” I think that business practices in an Islamic country are different from business practices in the United States, some factors influence the business practices in different cultures. As the culture, values and norms, social structure and diversity of individual all might affect the business practices. Culture is a complex factor that includes beliefs, knowledge, arts, morals, law, customs, and other capabilities obtained by people as members of society (Hill, 2011). Values and norms are the cores of the components for culture, values are general ideals about a society’s good, correct and desirable fact. Norms are the social rules and guidelines that suggest appropriate behavior in specific circumstances (Hill, 2011). I don’t know much about Islamic country, but the American culture is different from Islamic culture. Due to the religion, social structure and much diversity in the two different worlds, the business practices would affect by these differences. International business is different from national business due to the culture and society. The ethics in Islamic world, governs almost all aspects of people’s life. Ethical norms and moral codes discernable from some verses of the Quran, and the teachings of the Prophet are far reaching and comprehensive (Azim, n.d.). Islamic teachings extremely influence the observance...

...Module 1 DQ 1 I believe that the undergraduate learning experience is a period where there is the introduction to new information. This information is embedded in subject area of concentration that is delivered by the instructor. During this undergraduate period there is a change that happens in the mind of the student as they become familiar with the subject being studied. The student begins to adjust their thinking to the principles, terms and theories of the subject. In a graduate learning community the student has a level of knowledge that is now being expanded upon. The purpose of this in my opinion is to develop a level of mastery in the subject. The student also learns how to develop a deeper understanding of the subject that exceeds that of the undergraduate student and has the ability to develop ideas based on subject mastery that can possibly progress the development in that area of study going forward. I would describe a graduate learning community as a group of students and staff that share the same interests in objectives based on an area of study; that allow these people to learn, grow and develop together. In the learning community I believe that the key elements would include a malleable structured environment for learning that permits both the instructors and students to have input in the way in which the classes are designed. Learning communities must also promote an environment that creates a thirst for knowledge based on both instructor and student perspectives...

PRIMARY QUESTIONS: Do you think that shooting a hand gun should be part of the carry and conceal class? What else do you think the class may need? Do you think adding a shooting portion to the class would violate the 2nd amendment if they do not pass the shooting portion of the class? REASONING BEHIND THE QUESTIONS: I think that people should learn how to shot before they are allowed to carry and hand gun and potentially use to and hurt themselves or an innocent bystander. I don’t think it will because everyone that wants to carry has the opportunity to as long as they show they can...
