My perception of the character Gatsby changed, because of love, determination, and the emptiness he had in himself. This novel is combined with a tragic, and passionate love through which Gatsby falls in love with Daisy. Gatsby has to go to war. Suffering, tests the romantic love story of these two.

The novel, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a tragic love story of lost love. Gatsby, the main character based his love for Daisy, a young girl he met before going off to war. In their time apart, Gatsby attempted to build the American dream while Daisy enjoyed the riches by those who adored her. The character Daisy is described by Fitzgerald throughout the novel as flighty and shallow. It is their difference in character and devotion …show more content…
He attempted to build the American dream, and he did. Gatsby’s passion of becoming rich was unbelievable. As he was a kid Gatsby went through a tough time without money, but his dream was to be rich and famous for when he grew up. Gatsby over came the American dream and was rich and famous as he always imagined he would become. One of the reasons he made the American dream come true was because of Daisy her self. He wanted to supply everything for Daisy so when they got married they would have no troubles and live life to the fullest. I really liked this factor that the character Gatsby had, because it shows that no dreams are too big, and that everyone can overcome whatever the want to be in their …show more content…
In my first main point, I talked about love. Love was one of the main important things in this book. Gatsby’s life is run around love, and his love for Daisy. My second point was about the American dream and how he made it come true. Because of that, we see that no dreams are too big, and everything is possible. Gatsby started as a very poor boy, and didn’t have much, but his goal was to overcome the American dream and live a happy life. Gatsby’s inspiration as he was growing up was Daisy. He wanted to build the best possible house for her so she wouldn’t have any problems. But after Gatsby went to war, Daisy got married with another man. Gatsby build his house across the water in front of Daisy’s house, so he would be able to see her. My third, and last point was about Gatsby himself and what he had in his life. As we got closer to the end of the book, we realized that Gatsby was very alone and didn’t have many friends. This surprised me, because in the beginning of this book it shows that Gatsby throws these huge parties for everyone to come and enjoy, and we him with his friends, but when he died we saw that no one showed up to his funeral. I also used an expression that I thought linked with this book which was, “Some people are so poor that all they have is money”. In my opinion this shows Gatsby also how he was
