Ponyboy has been experiencing depression. Depression is a mental disorder that makes you feel lazy and bad about yourself. Depression is caused when someone is very tensed. This disorder is causing harm to Ponyboy’s physical/mental health. After Johnny and Ponyboy got jumped and after Johnny killed Bob Ponyboy has been very tense. Many problems occurred in Ponyboy’s life after they got jumped which caused him to go into depression.. For example the death of his parents and also the death of his close friends dally and Johnny. Johnny and dally died right in front of ponyboy. Johnny dies after rescuing kids from a burning church. And dally dies after not being able to bear the death of Johnny. The symptoms that ponyboy in facing is starvation since the death of his close friends ponyboy has stopped eating. Starvation is loss of appetite or when a person stops eating. Chapter 10 pg 156 “I was hungry and thirsty, but my stomach was so uneasy” this shows how ponyboy stopped eating…show more content… Another symptom he was experiencing was weakness ponyboy felt very weak after seeing his friends die right in front of him. Weakness is when someone feels a loss in energy or when someone feels anxiety. Chapter 10 pg 153 “I felt sick. I felt as if any min i was going to fall flat on my face” Ponyboy was also experiencing denial. Denial is when someone isn’t ready to accept the truth. Ponyboy was not ready to accept the fact that he lost two of his close friends. Chapter 11 pg 165 “Johnny is not dead”. Ponyboy was also feeling very sleepy. Due to all the problems in his life ponyboy is feeling tired and fed up. Chapter 10 pg 155 “I closed my eyes. I was feeling awfully tired”. Finally ponyboy starting feeling acceptance.
