How Does Zika Affect Children

Zika is a dangerous virus caused by mosquitoes biting you. Common symptoms of Zika are high fever, rash, or conjunctivitis, which is like pink eye. If you do get the Zika virus, the thing you should do is just rest and make sure to eat and drink plenty of water. The virus also causes abnormal-shaped heads in newborn babies if a pregnant woman were to get the Zika virus. People having to be hospitalized and dying is uncommon with this disease as well. This virus does not yet have a cure and is causing newborn babies to be born with smaller heads as well as brains. Zika affects 25,000 children in the United States each year. With a cure, the symptoms of this virus would not be occurring.
