a. What should Cindy do and why? Frame your answer in terms of a safe and healthy workplace.

After reading this case study, I think you can’t but think that Cindy needs to prepare that report immediately and provide all information necessary to change the way Campus Food Services (CFS) conducts business especially in the safety and health of their employees.

Cindy should begin to prepare the report that Jake has requested however, she should definitely not lie and omit any of the incidents that have taken place at the workplace. I know Cindy is concerned about her report because not only does her grade for the internship depends on it, a favorable job recommendation does too. You cannot improve the safety and health of your employees and the workplace if you don’t accept and recognize incidents that have occurred and take the necessary steps to minimize additional incidents from occurring.

It’s imperative that Cindy list all incidents that have occurred at that location during the past year since the report will be forwarded to both state and federal agencies (OSHA). OSHA has strict safety and record keeping/reporting standards that employers must follow. Cindy will learn how the company is complying with or not complying with state and federal safety and health regulations. She will also learn the standards that apply to the organization and check to see how they are being met. This will also cause

OSHA to conduct and inspect the location which will ultimately result in a safer workplace. I also think that an inspection by OSHA would cause CFS to conduct additional training to all their employees due to OSHA’s report cards.
