...God, I want you to take God's word and turn to Second Corinthians Chapter 10 and tonight we want to continue to think about the battle is the Lord's. We are thinking about spiritual warfare. I don't know about you but I am in a battle. Amen? I suspect you are too if you are a believer. Somebody said if you hadn't met the devil, you are probably going the same direction he is. Amen? So if you are going toward God, you are going to have the devil try to stand between you and God and not the devil literally but demonic influence, demons. We studied last seek how to overcome the devil and we spoke about that and we spoke about how Jesus had vanquished the devil. The devil has been vanquished but the devil has not been banished. That is, the Bible says that God now has given us authority over him and power over him but he is not yet in the lake of fire. There is no need for any believer to be defeated by Satan because the Bible says we have been given the victory, the victory has been won and we don't fight for victory, we fight from victory. But nevertheless, we are still in a battle. Now look at Second Corinthians 10 and verse 3, "FOR THOUGH WE WALK IN THE FLESH, WE DO NOT WAR AFTER THE FLESH. (FOR THE WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE ARE NOT CARNAL, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD TO THE PULLING DOWN OF STRONG HOLDS) CASTING DOWN IMAGINATIONS, AND EVERY HIGH THING THAT EXALTETH ITSELF AGAINST THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD, AND BRINGINGINTO CAPTIVITY EVERY THOUGH TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST...

...Corinthians 5:17-18 If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, then you are a Christian. According to the New Testament, you are also a new creation. You are beginning a whole new life! And just as a newborn baby needs certain things in order to be healthy and to grow up, so do you, as a new Christian, need certain things to grow spiritually. First, you need to be in fellowship with other Christians. It is through fellowship that you will learn more about God and about how to live as a Christian. You should plan to attend church regularly and join a kinship group so that you can develop close friendships with other believers. Vineyard has many kinship groups that meet on different days and in different locations throughout central Ohio. Choose one that is convenient for you so that you can be encouraged in your new relationship with God! Second, you need to pray, which is simply talking to God. Prayer is how you will grow in your relationship with God and how you can begin to allow Him to work in areas of your life. And third, you need to read the Bible on a regular basis. It is through the Bible that God will speak to you about Himself and your life needs. Beginning the Christian Life Series was developed by Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Columbus for new Christians. It is a series of Bible studies that are easy to follow and can help you as a new Christian start to learn the Scripture. Each study takes one passage from the Bible and goes through it...

...In this world, there are many strange things that can be too much for the human eye. We wonder in our heads why and how do these happen and demand for an explanation. The experience of paranormal phenomena has been a source of curiosity for as long as man has existed. Stories of ghosts, demons, and mythical beasts are filled through American folklore and are based on facts. Even though it is hard to explain the unnatural and look for a logical explanation, science just simply cannot explain why and how these things happen. In the article, “Do Paranormal Even Exist“, even Dr. Josephson concedes, “It would have to be something we have not identified in physical experiments. I think if we can get some sort of model, then people then may start...

...live in a new kingdom, we must understand "kingdom principles" if we are to be victorious Christians. We cannot overcome until we have the keys that unlock the kingdom of heaven. The Lord never meant for us to wait until we die to experience heaven but purposed for us to bring heaven to the earth through the power of His Spirit. "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom" (Luke 12:32). We are unable to receive God's healing, provision and blessing if we do not know the keys the Lord has given us to accomplish kingdom living. Keys represent authority in the Kingdom of God, and authority is gained by using them. Fasting is only one of the keys to the kingdom; others are prayer, praise, worship, intercession and travail (a prayer burden from the Lord). The key of fasting has nearly been lost to the modern church. It is also one that some say was only for early day Christians. Looking closely at the Word of God, we find that the Lord never did away with the principle of fasting, but it has been man who has attempted to make it obsolete. Fasting is still a valid key that can be used today to bring...

He was the son of a successful Protestant merchant, and was provided with an excellent education that included the opportunity to travel widely throughout Europe. He was fluent in a number of classical as well as modern languages, including Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Aramaic, Spanish, Italian, French and Dutch. In 1625, he began his attendance at Cambridge University with the intention of becoming a clergyman in the Church of England, but was disillusioned by what he considered the arrogance and ignorance of his fellow students. He decided that his true calling was to serve God and his country as an author and poet. Inspired by Roman poets of antiquity, and particularly Virgil, Milton aspired to create a great epic poem in the English language. He considered two other distinctly British topics for his epic—the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and the military exploits of the general Oliver Cromwell—before settling on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve and their fall from God’s grace through disobedience. Milton was politically active throughout his life, and was outspoken...

...Temptation All of us experience temptations. So did the Savior, but He “gave no heed unto them” (D&C 20:22). Similarly, we do not have to yield simply because a temptation surfaces. We may want to, but we don’t have to. 3. Satan, who is called the tempter (Mt. 4:3; 1 Thess. 3:5), is out to get us. He doesn’t care how spiritual we are, or how secure we are in our Christian homes; he is going to tempt us to sin hoping to lead us away from God and our families. FIRST, TO RESIST TEMPTATION, WE MUST UNDERSTAND WHAT TEMPTATION IS. Temptation is an enticement or an allurement to sin against the will of God. 2. James explains temptation this way: (Jam. 1:13-15) “When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” 3. These verses teach several things about temptation. a. First, God does not tempt us to sin, in fact, (1 Cor. 10:13) explains that God provides us with a way out of temptation. God allows us to be tempted in order to refine our faith and to help us grow in our dependence upon Him. b. Second, temptation in of itself is not sin. Jesus was tempted, however, He was without sin. Temptation only becomes sin when we give into the temptation. 4. Temptation is a process...

...Understanding Bitterness and Steps to Freedom Angela Tanner Liberty University Abstract Bitterness can causes many to be unable to forgive leading to anger, guilt and shame that keeps the soul sick and unable to move forward, because ‘the heart knows its own bitterness’ (Prov. 14:10). Knowing what bitterness is to begin with takes power from the enemy and starts the process of overcoming bitterness. Releasing the bitterness is possible toward self, God and others. To achieve this release (freedom) of bitterness includes discovering the root of it by working through blockages and dealing with self and God so the cancer and poison of the soul (Unforgiveness) can be eradicated from the soul and forgiveness can be achieved and received. With understanding and support, many can overcome these obstacles to overcome their bitterness leading to spiritual freedom so moving forward is possible. Bitterness In English, the concept of bitterness comes from the idea of something that has a sharp or unpleasant taste. We speak of something being bitter if it causes grief or is hard to bear; "a bitter defeat", "bitter failure". We also speak of a "bitter loss" when someone's death has caused great grief. Bitterness in speaking of personal experience is when something was unpleasant, undesirable, or when something bad was unexpected. Bitterness can lead to many to become ‘stuck’ into a trap that keeps them from moving forward in their lives. Abuse is a root that runs deep in bitterness...

...everything with prays. Prayer is essential for the true success of any worship leader. Maintaining the level of spiritual passion is priority number one. Without a vibrant relationship with God there is a lack of spiritual power to enable the worship leader to go beyond his or her natural talents and abilities. The private worship life of the leader makes all the difference in the world. Transformational worship leaders understand what it says in (John 15:5) “apart from me you can do nothing.” The priority of intercession on behalf of the previous fallen worship leader and those who were injured by what happened, will help usher in healing to the situation. As the new worship leader offers prayer regarding the frustration of the Pastor will serve like the intercession of Aaron or Hur for Moses during the battle Israel fought against the Amalekites in Rephidim in (Ex. 17). The Pastor of the church is like a Moses in the church and the worship leader is like a Joshua or an Aaron. The disgruntle members in the church need the prayer recorded in John 17:21-23. Jesus prayed, “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” The prayer of the worship leader...

...Religion and Morality REL1300 Melissa Giovengo July 14, 2014 Being born was not a choice. Someone, or something, has made the universe in which all life is sustained. Therefore, the question of “who or what” may never be answered until the afterlife. Yet, questions still evolve as to what makes a human being decide what is right, or wrong in their walk as a citizen of the world. As to the choices of being right this essay is referring to the moral equates of truth, respect, and the honor of human life. As to the choices of being wrong references will be made to lies, sin, and the disregard for human life. Looking at the similarities of Islam and Christianity one can find many common ideologies between the two religions. Although there may be some likeness between these two powerhouse religions there are certainly many differences to be discussed. It would be important to note that in the belief of Islam one similarity between Islam and Christianity are that both believe in one God. The Muslim faith is a monotheistic religion and they are very firm in their dedication and commitment to Allah. Christianity, too, is a belief in one God. Monotheistic in principle; however, some differences exist because of a belief in one God in three persons, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. These three are one, yet separate. For example, an egg is one, however; it has a shell, a yolk, and the white. These three parts make up one egg. Christians believe in one God with three...

...differences in daily monastic life for Christians and Buddhists, but the greatest differences became manifest in what the ultimate goals of those monks and nuns who practiced monastic life in the name of Christianity and Buddhism. In both Christian and Buddhist tradition monastic life is defined as having a cloistered existence, forsaking normal life and taking religious vows. In both traditions, the vows that are taken are meant to be binding for life. In the case of some types of Buddhism most of these vows are to be kept even if one leaves monastic life, and in Christianity monastic vows are only a more specific reaffirmation of the vows taken by all Christians when they are baptized.[1] More specifically, Christians vow to reject Satan and to accept Christ, and monks do this for a second time when they receive the rite of tonsure, which is why this rite is often called the second baptism. The rite of tonsure is the cutting of hair and shaving of scalp, which has had many reasons over the ages, but is always a sign of submission to God. Buddhists also shave their heads when entering a monastery, but this done more as a surrendering of vanity, as there is no monotheistic “god” in Buddhist tradition. The most...
