Explain how the body has been preserved for such a long time?
The iceman’s body has been preserved for such an immense period of time thanks to a range of incredible coincidences. Natural preservation of mummies are an extremely rare case, especially a corpse that is 5, 3000 year old. The find of Otzi shocked many scientist and archaeologist because it was an extraordinary find and scientists were shocked at that his body has been unharmed for numerous amounts of years and no animal has eaten on the remains of the corpse. In an environment where there in snow and ice there is no chance of the growth of bacteria which is a major factor for decomposition and insects eat dying reman. Decomposers do not grow or reproduce in cold environments resulting in the body being prevented from decaying .Scientists have performed numerous amount of experiments of the iceman and the have observed that Otzis hair, toenails and all but one of his fingernails have fallen of his body concluding to the fact that his body must have been immersed in water (when a dead body is in water for a long a certain amount of time it loses its hair and nails) .
