Chapter 1
How Demons Indwell Man's Spirit
We established in our first book on demons that the devil and demons (or evil spirits) are fallen beings.
Regardless of their previous state, it stands without argument that they fell, and that they seek embodiment in man.
The Word of God tells us this in Matthew 12:
17 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 18 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
19 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. . . .
We also learn about demons seeking embodiment in man in the story of the Gadarene demoniac in Mark 5.
The madman of Gadara was possessed with the devil and had a legion of spirits in him.
If demons can't embody man, they'll seek to go into

animals as their second choice. When Jesus delivered the demoniac, the evil spirits didn't want Him to send them out of the country, so they asked to go into a herd of swine.
Jesus gave them permission.
It's obvious why evil spirits seek embodiment in man.
They do it because they need a body in order to find their fullest expression in this

Reflection Paper

...Morgan Perry THEO 104-D30 April 9, 2015 Reflection Paper INTRODUCTION: My first reflection paper will address temptation and Demons. I do not have a lot of knowledge in these subjects but I want to challenge myself in places I am not familiar with. However, temptation and demons have relation with one another so that’s why I chose these topics. These classes at Liberty University have definitely opened my mind to what it is to be a Christian and appreciate the morals and values I hold. Temptation and Demons are spoken of in the Bible and all over the world. I am excited to further my learning in these topics. THEOLOGICAL DEFINITION: What is temptation? Temptation is what moves us to sin. It is important to know that God does not tempt us to sin (Jas 1:13) and temptation is not to be equated with sin. Christ was tempted (Matt. 4) yet he never sinned (Heb. 4:15). James 1:12-16 is the definition of temptation. Great blessings are given to those who are tempted and remain faithful and your own desires lead you into temptation (James 1:12-16). We must be able to get to a point to resist temptation. It is also important to realize temptation is not sin. Sin is not to blame when we sin (Napier, 1993, para. 12). BIBLICAL DEFINITION: According to the Bible there are two definitions of temptation. Temptation was demonstrated in the Bible when God “tempted” Abraham (Gen. 22:1). In this case temptation meant a trial or being put to the test. Temptation can also mean solicitation...

Blue Demon Bank

...Blue Demon Bank expects that the Mexican peso will depreciate against the dollar from its spot rate of $.15 to $.14 in 10 days.  The following interbank lending and borrowing rates exist:   Lending Rate Borrowing Rate U.S. dollar 8.0% 8.3% Mexican peso 8.5% 8.7%   * Assume that Blue Demon Bank has a borrowing capacity of either $10 million or 70 million pesos in the interbank market, depending on which currency it wants to borrow. * How could Blue Demon Bank attempt to capitalize on its expectations without using deposited funds?  Estimate the profits that could be generated from this strategy.   ANSWER: Blue Demon Bank can capitalize on its expectations about pesos (MXP) as follows:   1. Borrow MXP70 million   2. Convert the MXP70 million to dollars:   MXP70,000,000 × $.15 = $10,500,000   3. Lend the dollars through the interbank market at 8.0% annualized over a 10day period.  The amount accumulated in 10 days is:   $10,500,000 × [1 + (8% × 10/360)] = $10,500,000 × [1.002222] = $10,523,333   4. Repay the peso loan.  The repayment amount on the peso loan is:   MXP70,000,000 × [1 + (8.7% × 10/360)] = 70,000,000 × [1.002417]=MXP70,169,167   5. Based on the expected spot rate of $.14, the amount of dollars needed to repay the peso loan is:   MXP70,169,167 × $.14 = $9,823,683   6. After repaying the loan, Blue Demon Bank will have a speculative...

Global Warming Is Good for You: Critique

...global warming does in fact prove beneficial to human civilization and development by preventing a far worse ‘global freeze’. An interesting viewpoint, but the reasons he cites to justify his position seem superficial and poorly supported, making the article look like as if it were a fruit of a pointless literary mission to dwell on the topic from the ‘side not taken’. Mr. Steel starts off his argument by giving examples of how climate change- or rather global cooling if there is a term like that- has been a recurrent factor in the earth’s history. His argument is as follows. The “snow demon” he claims, if I may summarize metaphorically, has terrorized people from time immemorial- giving rise to epidemics, and wreaking havoc on human civilization, agricultural systems, economies, etc. Worse still the snow demon, once “unleashed”, apparently gains strength quickly. So to save ourselves from this monster, we should enrich the greenhouse gas component in the atmosphere. This may give rise to the Demon of Heat, but that grows more slowly and so we can deal with that- he would explain. On careful observation we notice that the author has simply extrapolated the pros of the greenhouse effect to global warming to suit his case. That without the greenhouse effect we wouldn’t have lived to learn about it would be known to even a primary school child. The greenhouse gases trap heat to provide the necessary balance for life to exist. But global warming, as the author himself acknowledges...

Assignment 2 Advertisement Analysis

...[pic] [pic] [pic] TABLE OF CONTENTS `McDonalds Advertisement Analysis 3 Dolce & Gabbana Advertisement Analysis 4 Givenchy Perfume Ange Ou Demon Advertisement Analysis 6 McDonalds Advertisement Analysis McDonalds’ advertisements are everywhere. The advertisements are on TV, radio, and in magazines. It is nearly impossible to go one day without seeing one. The company spends millions of dollars on advertising their product each and every year to a number of different target audiences. In this advertisement McDonalds is advertising one of the value meals on their menu. The target audience that McDonalds is aiming the advertisement to is middle to upper-class people. It is very effective because it shows that the high class restaurants do not give people the quantity of food that they are paying for. The main feature of the advertisement is a man in a nice restaurant looking at his small portioned meal in disgust. In the bottom of the picture there is a larger portioned meal from McDonalds which is more food for only a fraction of the cost of the meal in the restaurant. The advertisement consists of a middle aged man sitting in a restaurant. On the table is the silverware arranged neatly on the table and a flower. Also in the photograph is a waitress bringing out an exquisite plate of food to the table. It is obviously a formal restaurant. The man is wearing a suit which leads one to believe he is a middle or upper class individual. The man has a...

What Is Happiness Interview

... | Happiness The first person I decided to interview was my sister’s friend, Jared. He is 27 years old and has had what most would consider a hard life. The interview went as follows…. Me: What is your definition of happiness? Jared: I guess the definition would be to be being at peace with yourself and being at peace with who you are and where you are emotionally and mentally. Me: What makes you happy in life? Jared: A loud 375 hp Trans am with the top down (chuckling), being with a good woman. Me: Would you consider yourself to be a happy person, why or why not? Jared: No, some things make me happy, but still struggle with inner demons and I think too much most of the time. Me: Do you think you will ever get past your inner demons and be happy again? Jared: Yea, just personal things I have to deal with, my personal demons cannot be fixed, they are in the past and you can’t always change the past. Me: What experiences have influenced your definition of happiness? Jared: No real experiences, it is just what I think happiness is. Me: Has your definition of happiness changed over time? Jared: Yes, ten years ago I was just happy to have another party to go to, but now I see it is more about being at peace with yourself. Me: Do you expect the definition to change again? Jared: I am sure it probably will. The second person I decided to interview was someone I know very well, my Mom. She is 48 years old and she was a single mom of three girls and has since...

Dr. Josephson's Do Paranormal Even Exist Josephson

...In this world, there are many strange things that can be too much for the human eye. We wonder in our heads why and how do these happen and demand for an explanation. The experience of paranormal phenomena has been a source of curiosity for as long as man has existed. Stories of ghosts, demons, and mythical beasts are filled through American folklore and are based on facts. Even though it is hard to explain the unnatural and look for a logical explanation, science just simply cannot explain why and how these things happen. In the article, “Do Paranormal Even Exist“, even Dr. Josephson concedes, “It would have to be something we have not identified in physical experiments. I think if we can get some sort of model, then people then may start...

Never Been

...paths every day in our lives. Whether it is from the foods we eat, the people we talk to, or the choices we make, knowing that sometimes they aren’t right. This is why the rapper Logic decided to inspire, or rather uplift, any of his audience going through some adversities or rough patches in life, in his song “Never Been”. Throughout his song, he uses countless examples of how he overcame adversities of his own and is reassuring that immoral temptation is challenging but he believes that we can all overcome it. Logic opens this song with the lyrics, “I’ve been workin’ like I’ve never been, I struggle everyday but I just can’t let the devil in”. Logic is saying how he recognizes how difficult it is to refrain from temptation and how he learned from every situation he has been in. We not only deal with our personal demons, but we also come in contact with outside demons such as the environment that we are put in and by some people perceiving to be the devil to destroy us. In these lyrics right here, Logic is saying we struggle everyday but we can’t let anything or anyone distract us from what we want. These demons, whether internal or external, try to corrupt us but he wants us to know that we are not alone. Immediately after these lyrics, Logic raps “And if I knew back then what I know right now, what I know right now, I’d be better than I’ve ever been, better than I’ve ever been”. Everyone ages but not everyone grows. Here Logic is telling us that he recognizes if he were as...

Frankenstein: A Fictional Narrative

Well, the expression on its skull-like face seemed to indicate such an emotion. “I’m just a regular ol’ demon, Sir! I was just tryin’a do my job, honest!” “A demon?” That didn’t seem possible. “Yeah! Why should I let you go, huh?” “I was just doing my job!” James was far too tired to deal with this now. “Will you promise not to come back?” The demon frowned. “B-but… You’re an easy target. Historical Perspectives of Abnormal Psychology

...Historical Perspectives of Abnormal Psychology PSY 475 Historical Perspectives of Abnormal Psychology Abnormal psychology is the field of science that looks at why people behave in “weird” ways and how to change these behaviors. There are six concepts that are used to understand abnormal psychology the best. They are; the importance of context in defining and understanding abnormality, the continuum between normal and abnormal behavior, cultural and historical relativism in defining and classifying abnormality, the advantages and limitations of diagnosis, the principle of multiple causality, and the connection between mind and body (Hansell & Damour, 2008, pg. 40). Abnormal psychology has changed over time and is still changing every time a new study is conducted. For many years people believed behavior could only be explained by spirits and demons and not science. As science technology increased so did the way that mental illness and abnormal behavior was explained. Abnormal psychology may be a newer science but the interest in how the mind works has been around forever. Origins of Abnormal Psychology Although abnormal psychology has only been around for about 100 years as field of study, people have always been interested in the concepts behind the field. Dating back all the way to prehistoric times, people have interested in understanding the mind. Archeologists have come across skulls with holes drilled in them as far back as 8,000BC, which indicates...

Was There Magic in the Dead Sea Scrolls?

...Was There Magic at Qumran? Abraham Kahn Amongst the body of Qumran literature there is a small portion of textual material that seems to deal with different aspects of magical practice. These texts have sparked plentiful debate as scholars have attempted to understand the meaning of these texts, their role within the Qumran community, and how the community’s members felt about the texts. One of the key issues at hand for scholars has been trying to understand how the community reconciled its use of these texts that seemingly describe magical properties with verses in Deuteronomy that prohibit several forms of witchcraft and magic. The purpose of this paper will be to offer definitions for the term “magic” in a religious context in order to gain some context for the broader discussion of the paper, to study two Qumran manuscripts that describe practices that have been categorized to some degree as “magic,” to deliberate whether or not the issue raised by scholars is valid, and, if it is, to offer two scholarly theories proposed to explain how the community used these manuscripts in light of the biblical prohibitions based within the context of the Qumran community’s texts, practices and ideology as a whole. Scholars studying religious societies and practices have struggled to define what characterizes “magic” and to highlight what exactly separates religious practice from magical practice. The crude term itself, “magic,” has been assumed, for the most part, to describe practices...

Exorcism vs Schizophrenia

...Psychology, Florida Institute of Technology, 150 W. University Blvd. Melbourne, FL 32901, Email: tracerspear82@gmail.com Abstract Many years ago, many individuals who claimed to have spoken to “God” or seen angels and were coerced to commit certain harmful or illegal acts were considered to be possessed by demons or the devil. This was a problem that created a lot of panic within people to follow their religions and to pray that their spirit would not be consumed by the devil. Religion in most part viewed this as a spiritual aspect where in actual fact, this was a neurologic problem within these individuals. Schizophrenia has also been said to be a hereditary disease and many psychiatrists have to dig deeper into the patient’s family history for any correlation within the family. There are many aspects to take into consideration when dealing with someone who is suffering with delusions and a mixture of religious influence as it can create a lot of controversy. Many will argue this, but medical science throughout history has been solving these types of mysteries surrounding schizophrenia and their relation to exorcisms. Keywords: schizophrenia, exorcism, hallucinations, demons, religion. Exorcism vs Schizophrenia: Any Relation? Many cases throughout history have been misdiagnosed due to the impact of religious influence on a patient which is suffering from schizophrenia. A lot of these types of cases present individuals suffering from paranoid delusions which include hallucinations...
