How to get grounded

Some might say that this is a completely unnecessary piece of writing. After all, who really wants to get grounded? But what people fail to realize is that there are certain times when getting locked in your room is really the best thing that can ever happen to you. Now, let’s say that you have a really long paper due on a subject that you can’t bear to even talk about. On one side, there is that Biebs concert you have being waiting all month long for to go with your friends and on the other side there is your gradebook that needs some serious saving. In this case, your best option might be to stay in and work on that paper instead of cheering for Biebs on some stage. But, this is just hard to do isn’t it? Let’s be honest. …show more content…

The first thing you have to do to get started is to gather supplies you need to color point one of your family member’s cars. These are the recommended supplies:
Color paint: Preferably red since it is an intense color that is bright and can attract a lot of attention.
A brush: Get yourself a big brush that can create huge, visible strokes in the least amount of time.
Courage: You’re going to need a lot of courage to pull this off. Don’t back out in the last minutes. Like Shia Labeouf says, JUST DO IT!
Second, you need to pick a relative’s car to paint. It is better if the car belongs to your parents but any other sibling will do just fine.
The next thing you must do is to pick the right time to do the deed. You must make sure that you have the time required to completely finish the job. It is recommended to spend about half of an hour to complete this job.
Now, go out there and paint it up!

Admit Defeat If the tips above don’t work out, accept your situation and admit defeat. Sometimes doing this is one of the best ways to solve the problem. Admitting defeat is hard but anyone can accomplish it with the following

No Placr Like Home

...“There’s No Place Like Home’’ written by Joel Kotkin he talks about a new popular trend known as “localism’’. Joel Kotkin’s assertion of localism is that people are beginning to like to stay at home rather than moving from one place to another. He describes it as being rooted more in your community. He even goes on to say that the longer that people live in their homes or communities that they begin to identify more with those places, which helps local businesses and other institutions thrive. I agree with some of Joel Kotkin ideas of localism for instance I am very much rooted within the city I live in but I am very nomadic. In my twenty-one years of life I have never moved outside of the city limits. Joel Kotkin stated in his essay that people are wanting to stay at home more to stay close to their relatives, friends, local clubs, religious places of worship and just familiar surroundings. One of the main factors that keeps me rooted in Kansas City is my mother. My mother is at an age to where she is comfortable with the city she’s in so instead of her leaving the place she knows and calls home she would rather stay here in Kansas City and just move every so often. As an only boy I feel like it is my duty to always be near my mother and as close to her as possible she is the driving force for the reason I am so rooted or as I like to say stuck in Kansas City. As a nomadic man of my era, I have always resided in many different communities within the Kansas City...

...Studies, and this may be a bit unorthodox, but I wanted to say that your book Writing Essays About Literature was one of the best books I have ever read in the world of academia! I am taking a Critical Theory class, and we were assigned only the first 55 pages, but I really could not put the book down. Your writing is magnificent, and I am constantly referring to the book when writing papers. You have done a brilliant job making essay-writing easy, structured, and actually enjoyable!" - Lauren Gaylor, University of Kansas "Katherine O. Acheson's Writing Essays About Literature is a concise, fully portable and very well-priced guide that gets it right. Acheson's emphasis on inductive reasoning is wonderfully refreshing. It really helps English professors persuade their students to argue from the specific to the general, to found their arguments on the details of evidence and on the careful—and affectively sensitive—analysis of that evidence. And the very best thing about this book is that Acheson's casual and unassuming prose style makes students want to read it. And they do. And then they bring it to class!" - Glenn Clark, University of Manitoba "For those of us interested in teaching writing through literature, Katherine O. Acheson's guide is an indispensable companion, teaching students that writing is more about process and less about imagined giftedness. The book begins by teaching students how to perform a close reading of a text--a craft that every writer should learn to...

...TYPES OF POWER ESSAY MOTIVATION AND LEADERSHIP 1/20/13 BRIAN PHARRIS I learned a lot in watching the types of power videos. I learned that it is five different powers you can display as an individual. Those powers are referent, reward, legitimate, coercive, and expert. These powers are all intriguing to me. Referent power means being trustworthy and going above and beyond the call of duty to do a job you’re ask to do. Reward power is offering something of value to get somebody to do something. Legitimate power is showing authority of power with a certain position or rank. Coercive power is being demanding, intimidating, and using some type of fear to get what you want. Lastly expert power is being comfortable to influence others because of expertise, knowledge, or skill. The type of power I find most effective is reward power. I think reward power is the most effective because usually when you offer somebody some type of reward or something of value it usually motivates them to do their job a lot more. The types of power I think I have as an individual are two types of power. The first power I exude as an individual is referent power. I consider myself to be a very trustworthy, hard working, and going above and beyond to do what ever it takes to get a job completed. The other type of power I display is reward power. As a manager I tend to give my employees certain rewards for goals they make each month hoping that it will motivate them to come to work...

Labelling Theory

...in terms of explaining crime and or social problems in modern society. This essay is going to examine and asses the usefulness of labelling theory in our understanding of crime and social problems in modern society. This essay is going to firstly look at what labelling theory is and also look at the key writes that have influenced and help to develop the term labelling theory. The essay will then go on to look at empirical research that has been carried out such as Jock Young’s study of marijuana users and their experience of labelling which in turn led to further deviance and also different examples that will help illustrate the key points being put forward in the essay. Finally it will look at some of the criticisms labelling theorists face. Interactionist generally sees society from the point of view of individuals. They believe that individuals are creative free thinking people who are able to choose their own behaviour and the also believe that behaviour is self-directed based on the interactions we have with one another. The labelling views on deviance is generally grounded in what is now known as labelling theory which emerged in the 1960’s from the work of American sociologist Howard Becker. Labelling theorists are mainly concerned with how and why certain people and actions are labelled as criminal or deviant, and they...

Biblical World View Essay

...CHRISTINA M. SANFORD WORLD VIEW ESSAY L26463326 BIBL 104-D82-LUO MAY 5TH, 2014 INTRODUCTION: Opinions are everywhere, everyone has one. This essay will attempt to explain one opinion or worldview of Romans: 1-8. There is so much discussed in this book. Paul touched on so many different topics and made descriptive points on what we as Christians are supposed to do, how we are supposed to live and walk in our day to day life. This essay will break them down in several different categories; The Natural World, Human Identity, Human Relationships, and Culture. It will be one sided and the writers opinion only. THE NATURAL WORLD: God created this world in only a few short days. With a few words, He spoke everything we know into existence. We know this to be true through God’s Word. It is the inspired word of God, God breathed His Word into His chosen writers. The prophetic word that was told of in the Bible, is what helps us know that the Bible is truth. The natural world is sin for us. There are so many things that lure us to sin. Jesus is our way to forgiveness. The natural world is dangerous, and this is some of what Paul was trying to help people understand in his writings. Everyday we have a choice to take the right path or we can choose to take the wrong one. Either way we go, there are consequences to our decisions. If we choose the right path, then we have salvation and mercy. When we choose the wrong path we have eternal damnation...

Human Society

...hormonal differences. Gender inequality stems from distinctions whether empirically grounded or socially constructed. Gender inequality is still an issue today and since 2010, there has been a measurement for this. It’s the Gender Inequality Index (GII). This shows the loss of achievement within a country due to gender inequality. Sex and Gender. As soon as a female is born, gender expectations influence how a girl is to be treated. Girls wear pink and yellow and wear dresses, play with Barbie dolls and help Mommy cook. Boys are to wear blue and green, wear jeans, play with trucks and eat mud. Seriously, if a boy comes into the house after he has been playing outside and is all dirty, that’s expected, whereas if a girl does that, it’s not lady like and is frowned upon. God forbid if you get your Easter dress DIRTY! Three areas that I will look into for this essay is sex and gender in the military, sexism and patriarchy and how women fulfill 4/5 properties of a minority. Sex and Gender in the military could be this whole essay, but I will try to just go over a few points. Even though, the ban has been lifted for women to serve on the front lines in combat, there is still a long way to go. An example of this is rape. 1 in 3 women serving in the U.S. military in Iraq are raped. This will continue to go on because this behavior is shoved under the rug and the military doesn’t want this to get out in to the media’s hands. The men that are in charge will try to stick up...

Why Is Boredom Bad?

...Essay for english Everyone may think different reasons of why and why not boredom does or doesn't lead someone into trouble. Boredom does lead to trouble; this can be found for not only teens, but adults as well; however, boredom can lead some to find a new perspective about him/her. A kid decides to explore his family’s house, and then BAM, his mother/father is yelling at him because maybe he broke something or he wasn’t supposed to go in that room. This can bring about problems within the family and can be a result of a broken family. Lots of teens hang out with friends, and sometimes do stupid things. I think this because, since they were bored at home all day, and finally getting out with their friends, makes them want to do dumb things or act stupid and could lead them and their friends into big trouble. If teenagers are bored, they may start hanging out with the wrong group of “friends” just because it would seem to them to bring some entertainment. The same motivation can make them try and use cigarettes, alcoholic drinks or even drugs. Boredom often makes young people do something illegal to get their share of adrenaline. Boredom and peer pressure - these are the big culprits when it comes to teenage drinking, drugs, sex and violence. If they have enough knowledge they can also become very dangerous thieves and hack people’s credit cards or computers. This helps them focus their brain and get their sense of pleasure. If youths are not that intelligent, they might...

In this essay, I will demonstrate how the AIDS activist movements unveiled the lack of help from political figures, and their stand on sexual behavior in the community. As demonstrated through David France’s documentary, “How to Survive a Plague,” the activist movements allowed the HIV/AIDS community to gain power and make progress in the advancement and fight of the AIDS epidemic. In addition, it served as tool to expose issues in the way of fixing the epidemic. It illustrated how a community dedicated to a...

Asses the View That Interpretivist Methods Are the Most Appropiate Methods for Researching Society

...human behaviour by being able to emphatize with it. In order to do this, interpretive sociologist use interpretivist methods. This essay will asses wheter these methods are the most appropiate ones for researching society, focusing on Ethnographic research, Focus groups and Sampling. First of all, it is important to understand why do interpretive researchers prefer interpretivist methods, also known as qualitative methods. Qualitative methods are any type of methods that aim to undercover the meaning of social action rather than measuring it. Qualitative research allows to search for the meaning for participants of events, situations and actions. Interpretivist argue that a full understanding of society can only be presented by understanding how individuals build up their patterns of interactions. This type of research usually studies small scale groups in specific situations, which allows the researchers to preserve the individuality of each in their analyses. This provides them with a detailed understanding of the events, actions and meaning. In contrast to positivist research, qualitative researches dont necessarily have an idea of what they are looking for in a research, but instead, start with a particular area of interest and follow the lead, which leaves them much more open for the unexpected and fresh ideas; This is refer to as “grounded theory”. Lastly, interpretivist researchers are interested in the actual dynamics of the situation, the process, rather than patterns...

Hume's method of moral philosophy is experimental and empirical; Kant emphasizes the necessity of grounding morality in a priori principles. Hume says that reason is properly a “slave to the passions,” while Kant bases morality in his conception of a reason that is practical in itself. Hume identifies such feelings as benevolence and generosity as proper moral motivations; Kant sees the motive of duty—a motive that Hume usually views as a second best or fall back motive—as uniquely expressing an agent's commitment to morality and thus as conveying a special moral worth to actions. Although there are many points at which Kant's and Hume's ethics...

Ethical Viewpoint

...strong relationship builder and restorer. I have always tried to be objective and well-grounded when connecting with others. I have always maintained a sense of tradition and compassion. My foremost downfall is that I can be arrogant or overconfident at times. The following essay will reveal more about my sunny disposition in life as well as the demons inside me. Personal Preferred Ethical Lens I am lucky to be torn between two very good lenses. The first that will be covered is the Relationship Lens. Let’s define the relationship lens. My understanding is a group of people reflect upon the relationship between deciding what needs to be accomplished and the ethical plan in which to complete it while keeping in mind their duties. The second preferred ethical lens is the Reputation Lens. My interpretation of this lens is simple. People make decisions based on two items. What is ethical and how their reputation or role will come into play with the decision that is made. These two lenses uncannily describe me very well. When there are decisions to be made in my life, I always attempt to look at the big picture and then break it down into segments before making a possible rash decision that will haunt me later. I first look at what is ethical or the right thing to do. I try to keep the Golden Rule in mind while in the decision making process. Another item I evaluate is how my decision is going to affect others in the way they look at me. I try to be a good role...
