...and Swift use different literary form to support their ideas about charity and generosity. Barrow uses sermon to persuade the rich people in his country to be charitable to the poor. Moreover, Barrow is being repetitive in his work, which is good because he wants to the readers to get his main ideas of being charitable to the poor, and he also relates charity to God and official Church of England. He emphasizes that being charitable will change God’s decisions on salvation and if you are not charitable you will be damned. His sermon also backed up by church’s doctrine, so the wealthy people of England believe on what Barrow stated. He stated that people were born equally, but economy in the world creates discrepancy between people, which he wants the poor also be equally recognized as a person and the poor can feel some luxuries that the rich people have. On the other hand Swift use ironic satire to mock about the careless attitude in his country, also he has gone to extreme on his proposal, giving nasty concept and illustration to draw people’s attention. In his work, he tells the poor family should sell their baby as food, because they will get money for it, and the burden of raising the children are gone. He also support his proposal by giving calculations of how much money the poor have to spend to raise a child and how much money will the family get for selling it. This sort of calculation supports his ideas that by following his proposal, poverty problem can logically be...

...have heard about many stories and breaking headlines of the rich and their various activities in our daily lives. The immense exposure of the rich leads to them being viewed as socially powerful and famous, capturing the attention of many people. Since the media constantly covers stories on the rich in many forms, there have been numerous perspectives and opinions on this certain cultural group. With the help of the media, the rich have succeeded in communicating the power and dominance they have in society due to their economic position. Based on my experience with the media, I have often seen news flashes and television shows of rich personalities and characters. This started right from my childhood days, when I watched cartoons and it had rich characters (such as Muffy from the show “Arthur”), up to the present time, when I’m logged on to Facebook and I see trending articles on rich celebrities (such as Kim Kardashian’s grand wedding). The rich are over represented in the media, and I feel it’s heavily due to the high amount of money they make, allowing them to indulge in various activities (for example, producing reality shows, buying sports teams, or even acquiring illegal drugs). From my experience, I have often heard widespread criticism on the meaningless activities that the rich get involved with, when they could have used their money to support policies or initiatives that benefit the poor. Instead, a lot of rich personalities land themselves in the limelight for wasting...

...Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires By Grant Cardone Learn how to generate multimillion-dollar wealth -- and enjoy the journey on your way to the top. First, understand that you no longer want to be just a millionaire. You want to become a multimillionaire. While you may think a million dollars will give you financial security, it will not. Given the volatility in economies, governments and financial markets around the world, it's no longer safe to assume a million dollars will provide you and your family with true security. In fact, a Fidelity Investments' study of millionaires last year found that 42 percent of them don't feel wealthy and they would need $7.5 million of investable assets to start feeling rich. This isn't a how-to on the accumulation of wealth from a lifetime of saving and pinching pennies. This is about generating multimillion-dollar wealth and enjoying it during the creation process. To get started, consider these seven secrets of multimillionaires. No. 1: Decide to be a multimillionaire You first have to decide you want to be a self-made millionaire. I went from nothing — no money, just ideas and a lot of hard work — to create a net worth that probably cannot be destroyed in my lifetime. The first step was making a decision and setting a target. Every day for years, I wrote down this statement: "I am worth over $100,000,000!" ...prosperity and wealth make it clear: A job will not make you rich. If you want to be wealthy, at some moment of your life, you will have to create a source of income other than your salary. This is an evident and crushing reality: If you sell your time to others, you will quickly reach a limit in your capacity to generate income. In his book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad," Robert Kiyosaki said that the rich do not work for money; they generate assets that work for them. If you want to learn how to work for money, go to school. If you want to learn how to work even harder, you should get an MBA. OK, some top managers earn millions (and they are therefore millionaires). Some people still think they can get to those positions with an MBA — as if the Businessweek study, which found an MBA does not have a causal relationship with professional success, was not convincing enough. Do you want some more proof that an MBA will not get you there? If you look at the degrees of CEOs of the CAC 40 (the main stock exchange index in France), you will see that the MBA is nothing but an "optional" degree. In some companies, it is still desirable to climb the corporate ladder. These companies represent a very low percentage of the companies in the market, and you do not need an MBA if your biggest ambition in life is to climb to a top management position. But let's go back to the topic that interests you: how to be rich. If you want to be rich, you must be an entrepreneur, investor, or both. By a simple...

...nations in the 19th century because of two very major roles the rich and the poor back then the rich and the poor were in completely different worlds the rich had a lot of respect royalty and value as for the poor you can say there had nothing in my essay I am going to take you back to the 1900 to tell you the harsh conditions the poor went through as well as how the rich give injustice to the not so fortunate and how the rich lived compared to the poor. One of the main things that were extremely different was the quality of the houses, the rich had grand houses which would suite there comfort in every way there had heating servants and even toilets to themselves. A Poor persons house in the 1900 wouldn’t have even been well constructed there were holes in the walls which rats came in 20 at a time when it rained there were big leaks from the roofs there had one room/bed for several families and had to share a public toilet that didn’t even flush. In the 1900 transport was a very big issue because when trains were first released the rich couldn’t bare the filth and the dirt of the poor therefore rich and the poor were split up into completely different platforms the rich had their own comfy seats a had a roof over the top so no rain could get in but for the poor there was only wooden seats and no shelter of course it was cheaper the price for a poor person was about 1 to 2p so it was affordable. The meals to the rich and the poor were exceptionally different the poor had to have...

...an article that appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Peter Singer, a professor of bioethics, calls attention to the urgent need for food and medicine in many parts of the world. Singer argues that prosperous people should donate to overseas aid organizations such as UNICEF of Oxfam America all money not needed for the basic requirements of life. “The formula is simple: whatever money you’re spending on luxuries, not necessities, should be given away.” Singer’s solution can help some people in some situations, but it can’t help everyone. There are many instances where donations of money given to people would help immediately and there are rich people that can support many families. However, I don’t believe that people in poverty should be given handouts, there are people that wouldn’t necessarily benefit from donations, and if the rich are controlling all donations they have more power than our government. I believe that some money should be given to help create jobs in our country, and instead of donations being used for funds it should be the tax money from all the people....

...Lizet Moreno Professor Allen October 7, 2013 Rich Dad Poor Dad In the book rich dad and poor dad basically was summons up that for an individual to be wealthy, one must aim to own the system or means of the production. In other words the book shows you how to strive for success, there is different types of ways to succeed like the book tells you. The rich dad and poor dad both had strong point of views in earning and succeeding in life, in my opinion I would have followed on the same footsteps Kiyosaki did in following his rich dad. It is true when his poor dad says in order to get somewhere in life you have to get a good education and have a secure safe job but that really isn’t the path to become a wealth person. The rich dad’s opinion differ from the poor dad, he said in order to become wealth you first need to understand how money works. Based on the book rich dad poor dad it taught me and changed my mind in how to deal with money and finance. That financial literacy is key, also rather own business instead of work at them. Also it thought me to understand taxes and the power of corporations. One thing that he helped me understood was when he was explaining that the rich don’t work for money; they force money to work for them, when the rich required assets then liabilities. To know the difference an asset and liability, He quoted that “in order to be truly wealthy, your asset column must be robust and able to offset your living expenses” and that most people think...

...Corruption in the play “A Man For All Seasons” The main plot in the play “A Man For All Seasons” by Robert Bolt is corruption, more specifically political corruption. While the play focuses heavily on the social demise, and moral strength of the character Thomas More. It also covers the inverse process with other characters, such as; Richard Rich, Thomas Cromwell, and the king of England Henry VIII. In the play Thomas More stands as a beacon of selfhood and virtue, while the other three men used manipulation and disloyalty, to gain wealth and power, no matter what the consequences may be. The character Richard Rich did not start out corrupt in the beginning of the play, but became corrupt with prospect of becoming wealthy and powerful. Rich was denied a high-ranking position by More, and in turn accepted a position from Cromwell in exchange for assisting him in taking down More. Rich is aware that he is being used by Cromwell, but he is so obsessed with jumpstarting his career, and rise to power, he turns a blind eye to it. Throughout the play loses his innocence, he even stated that to Cromwell when he accepted the offer as post at York, and Cromwell ask why he looked so depressed, Rich’s reply was “I’m lamenting. I’ve lost my innocence” (Bolt 74). He is quickly reminded by Cromwell that he had lost it a long time ago, when he decided to assist him and the King in taking down More, who was supposed to be a friend of his. Now, what is pretty ironic about Rich’s situation...
