A person uses integrity, honesty, and conscience in everyday life and even in books the characters also show these traits. In the book, “How To Kill A Mockingbird” Harper Lee uses many conversations through characters to show how they use integrity, honesty, and conscience. Integrity is based on the honesty and the moral concepts of a certain person. In this book, Atticus uses integrity more than anyone throughout the whole book, he uses certain clues to say everyone is equal and how everyone should be treated the same. Calpurnia shows integrity when Lee says, “They’s my comp’ny:It’s the same God, ain’t it.”(Lee 135-136). Calpurnia is telling Lula that in her morals, it does not matter the race of these children because they all worship the same God. Honesty and conscience also play a huge roll in the book. Scout, Jem, and Dill use honesty when in trouble instead of lying because honesty plays a huge role in Atticus’ character. As Atticus finds the kids doing something they are not supposed to be doing, Jem uses honesty when he says, “I was-we were just tryin’ to give somethin’ to Mr. Radley.” (Lee 54). Conscience leads the character to a certain way of rightness or wrongness. Tom Robinson has a strong pure conscience for the court case.
